Milani Embrace Amore Matte Lip Creme
Milani Embrace Amore Matte Lip Creme

Milani Embrace Amore Matte Lip Creme ($8.99 for 0.21 fl. oz.) is described as a “deep reddish plum.” It’s a brightened, medium-dark berry with strong, cool pink undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff that went on fairly evenly, but there was some slight “streaking” where the color appeared lighter/darker in areas. The formula was thin and easily spread across the lips, but it was also easily spread past the natural lip line with the amount pulled on the applicator so be careful or wipe off excess prior to using. The color lasted for eight hours with minimal fading and was just a tad drying after six hours of wear. Tarte Fly (P, $20.00) is darker (95% similar). Anastasia Plumeria (P, $18.00) is more shimmery, darker (95% similar). Bite Beauty #100 (P, $18.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). ColourPop Gifted (P, $7.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). NARS Wasted (LE, $27.00) is darker (90% similar). Bite Beauty #096 (P, $18.00) is brighter, warmer (90% similar). Makeup Geek Cougar (P, $12.00) is cooler (90% similar). MAC Acai (LE, $20.00) is darker, brighter, glossier (90% similar). ColourPop Phoebus (LE, $8.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). NARS Warm Leatherette (P, $26.00) is darker (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Velvet Violet (16) (P, $55.00) is glossier (90% similar). NARS Damned (P, $27.00) is darker, warmer (95% similar). ColourPop Songbird (P, $6.00) is lighter, glossier (90% similar). NARS Give It Up (P, $26.00) is lighter (90% similar). NARS Damask (LE, ) is darker (90% similar). Tarte Twerk (P, $20.00) is lighter, brighter, cooler (85% similar). MAC Si, Si, Me! (LE, $20.00) is lighter, cooler, glossier (90% similar). Fenty Beauty Unlocked (P, $24.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). Anastasia #10 (Vol. 1) (PiP, ) is darker, glossier (85% similar). Sephora Mulberry (P, $14.00) is darker, cooler (85% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Milani Flirt Amore Matte Lip Creme ($8.99 for 0.21 fl. oz.) is described as a “deep vampy wine.” It’s a deepened–but a bit muted–burgundy with cool undertones and a matte finish. This one took forever to dry, even longer than the other shades, at ten minutes. It applied unevenly and only had semi-opaque pigmentation. While the color lasted for eight hours, it just didn’t look that good on as a result of the unevenness. I found it to be a little drying after six hours of wear. ColourPop More Better (P, $6.50) is lighter (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Fetishist (P, $54.00) is warmer (95% similar). MAC Talk That Talk (LE, $20.00) is darker, glossier (90% similar). MAC Fixed on Drama (LE, $20.00) is warmer, glossier (90% similar). Tarte Hangry (P, $20.00) is cooler (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Black Dahlia (10) (LE, $55.00) is darker, less pigmented, warmer (85% similar). NARS Trashed (LE, $27.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). Charlotte Tilbury Festival Magic (Was Glastonberry) (P, $34.00) is cooler, glossier (85% similar). Tarte Killin' It (P, $20.00) is more muted, warmer (85% similar). Chanel Rouge Vie (58) (P, $38.00) is lighter, glossier (85% similar). MAC Sin (P, $20.00) is darker, warmer, glossier (90% similar). Tarte Wet Suit (P, $22.00) is darker, cooler, glossier (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

FORMULA SUMMARY | Milani Amore Matte Lip Creme ($8.99 for 0.21 fl. oz.) is a new, limited edition liquid lipstick that dries to a matte finish. You’ll mostly find them at your local drugstore (I got mine from Walgreens), but they are available online as well through Milani directly. These have a very thin, liquid-y consistency–they easily get outside the lines and in general, the applicator can apply far more than you need, so I highly recommend a little patience and maybe using a lip brush (if you can) to apply and get really precise, neat lines. The formula has a longer dry down–about five to ten minutes before you can press your lips together–and gets very tacky after two minutes or so (do NOT! press your lips together or else you will lift color in large patches!). They’re one of the lesser drying liquid lipsticks I’ve come across (but these did get a bit drying after four to six hours of continuous wear), and they are long-wearing and pigmented. They have a moderately strong sweet, vanilla scent.

Embrace and Romance are my favorites. They are so pretty and I love the way these feel and how you can actually build them up. Next to Kat Von D’s formula I like these best. I always thought the color flirt looked patchy on everyone who swatched it or applied it. Great color in the tube but doesn’t translate well on the lips. Great review as always 🙂 (I really wish they would make these permanent.).

Pretty colors, but I tried some others of these and really didn’t like the formula, so I’ll definitely pass! Not exactly friendly to beginner liquid lipstick users. I’ll stick to the Kat Von D ones.

Both colors are pretty, too bad the formula on these shades are thinner, and I can see it spreading beyond the natural lip line, will definitely need a lip liner. But on the bright side, it does make your lips look very full, good if you want the Kylie Jenner look !

I picked up Embrace, despite it being a bit streaky, because the color is gorgeous! I’m happy that I did, though the streaking is a tinsy bit annoying. This also dries a bit darker on my fairer skin, but it’s a great color.

Between deep burgundy-reds and purples, I wonder what gives??? I was hoping Flirt would’ve broken the proverbial “curse”, but that never seems to happen….deep, vampy lipstick seems to always ultimately go on streaky or patchy or something!

I have never been a Milani user. I did pick up two shades of the liquid lipsticks but can’t remember the shade names. Probably Flirt was one, as I am looking for deep, red, oxblood shade for brown skin.

I ordered Lust. I was wanting these, but they were sold out. I’m kind of glad, because they don’t look so hot. I have not been able to find these in stores at all.
