Melt Cosmetics It’s Showtime ElecTRIP Lip Paint ($19.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a brighter, medium purple with warmer, pink undertones and a metallic finish. The product began as a thin, fluid liquid and dried down to a mostly transfer-resistant finish that was more like “matte” metallic as a result.
The shimmer intensified by gently rubbing one’s lips after the product dried down as well (not atypical of this type of formula). It had semi-opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which went on somewhat evenly. It left a very strong, berry-ish stain behind that went on and on–it was almost immediately, intensely staining. It had a clingier feel while worn, and it seemed moderately drying over time; it wasn’t doing my drier lips (from the brand’s regular lipstick formula) any favors at all. It pretty much lasted until I ate something oily or removed it on purpose, and even then, it was a struggle to remove, so longevity was certainly there!

Strange and Unusual
Melt Cosmetics Strange and Unusual ElecTRIP Lip Paint ($19.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a brighter, pinky-red base with lighter flecks of fuchsia and pink sparkle that gave it a metallic finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage where the base had less intensity than the shimmer. The texture was more fluid and not too thick or too thin when initially applied, and then it dried down to a more “matte” metallic, transfer-resistant finish, but it wasn’t conducive to a second layer. When I tried to build up coverage, it seemed to result in some lifting and flaking. The product applied fairly evenly but was prone to pulling into my lip lines as it dried down.
The product stained immediately with a very intense, cherry red kind of color that lingered and lingered. This was the last shade I tested, and it looked like I was part-vampire as the stain clung to the inner area of my lips quite a bit, but it was a blotchy effect overall. You’ll definitely want to be prepared to wear more opaque lipstick after wearing this shade! It lasted for over six hours and was somewhat drying over time.

Melt Cosmetics Weirder and Weirder ElecTRIP Lip Paint ($19.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a cooler, black base with finer, violet and purple pearl throughout. It had more of a “matte” metallic finish–not glossy or shiny but still had visible pearl to it. It had opaque color coverage in a single layer, which applied evenly and fluidly on my lips, so it wasn’t difficult to control. The texture was lightweight, not too thick or too thin, and fluid. It stayed on well for over six hours and was lightly drying over time.

These are such fun looking shades! If I thought I could pull off Weirder & Weirder, I’d hop on that one. But I just cannot due to my coloring, aging and un-cute, gappy teeth.
These are pretty damn glorious. I’d buy them all if they were my color preference. If I can score Weirder and Weirder on sale I 100% will.
