Melt Cosmetics Blueprint Stack Review & Swatches
Blueprint
Melt Cosmetics Blueprint Eyeshadow Stack (x4) ($48.00 for 0.36 oz.) is a new, permanent eight-shade set featuring pops of blue and copper. The blue-hued packaging is limited edition, but the palette joins the permanent Stacks (presumably in black packaging then). Each level of the stack features two shades (each in its own pan but placed right next to each other). Two of the shimmers–but the lighter ones–had a chunkier consistency, while the more mid-tone shimmers were smoother, creamier, and easier to work with. The deepest blue matte blended out decently but did take more effort than the typical matte (though good for this type of shade, in my experience).

Nailed
Nailed is a muted, golden copper with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It was yellower and more muted compared to Hot Wire, which was more orange-based. The eyeshadow had rich color payoff that applied well to bare skin as the color went on evenly and smoothly without losing its intensity or coverage. The consistency was creamy, dense without being too thick or too firmly pressed in the pan, and blended out easily. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours before it showed signs of wear.

Hammered
Hammered is a deep brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The pigmentation was opaque in a single layer, while the consistency was soft, velvety and substantial so a little went a long way. If you prefer to build up pigmentation, this might be “too” pigmented. The eyeshadow applied evenly and blended out without issue along the edges. It lasted nicely for eight hours on me before I noticed any fading.

Beaming
Beaming is a light, peachy gold with strong, warm undertones and a frosted sheen. It had nearly opaque pigmentation with a more loosely-pressed consistency that felt a little chunky to the touch, so it worked better with pressing/patting motions with a brush to avoid fallout. I found this easiest to use with a dampened brush, which helped ensure it went on smoothly without fallout. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Hot Wire
Hot Wire is a bright, golden copper with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The color payoff was fantastic, while the consistency was smooth, lightly creamy, and blendable. It was easy to apply and work with on my skin, as it adhered well to bare lids. This shade stayed on well for eight and a half hours before creasing faintly.

King Stud
King Stud is a bright, medium-dark blue with cool undertones and a metallic sheen. It had full color coverage that adhered well to bare skin with a smooth, even application, though the edges could have diffused more seamlessly. The eyeshadow had a lightly creamy, slightly emollient quality to its texture that helped it sit well on my skin but made the edges a more “ragged” look as I diffused the product on that made it take longer to really diffuse and soften those edges. It lasted well for eight and a half hours on me.

Dim-out
Dim-out is a deep, inky blue with strong, cool undertones and a matte finish. It was richly pigmented, especially as the shade seemed to darken slightly when it came into contact with my skin; it was more forgiving over a drier primer (like a typical eyeshadow primer vs. a concealer base), though. The consistency was surprisingly smooth with only a touch of fallout during application. For this type of shade, it was better than anticipated, as these are often more challenging to blend out along the edge, and this one was definitely harder to work with than a more readily blended out color family like brown. It showed signs of fading after wearing for eight and a half hours on my eye.

Skylight
Skylight is a pale, green-leaning aqua with neutral-to-cool undertones and a sparkling, frosted finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that was hard to build up without using a dampened brush with it. The texture was chunkier, thicker, and had some fallout when I pressed and patted it onto my skin. With a dry brush, it was hard to even out the coverage, though from afar, it was very brightening, but with a dampened brush, I was able to get the texture to lay down more smoothly/consistently. The eyeshadow stayed on nicely for eight hours on me.

Deadbolt
Deadbolt is a muted, medium blue with cool undertones and a metallic sheen. It had a lightly creamy, denser consistency that had noticeable slip, which is a characteristic that I find makes eyeshadows have a great finish but can sometimes makes it take a bit more effort to blend out the edge seamlessly. It had opaque pigmentation that lasted well for eight hours on me.

Christine you really outdid yourself this time, the eye look is gorgeous!!!
Thank you for reviewing this!!
My love for Melt is very, very deep, and I’m so happy they released another stack (LOVE STACKS); but I’m on the fence with this one. I like blue, but don’t wear it often, and just got a bunch from Colourpop. While bronzey colors are flattering on everyone, I have *so many* and don’t really want any more. And lastly, as cool as it is to have special packaging, I don’t care for that shade and would rather have the basic black stacks.
Having said all that………………….I’ll probably still get this at some point and all three of the liquid lips they released with this collection.
Forgot to include this in my first comment – THOSE LIPS ARE PROBABLY MY FAVORITE YOU’VE EVER DONE!!!!
How I don’t have Squid Ink already, or some other deep blue is beyond me, but I am stealing this look with whatever I have on hand to recreate it and might wear it forever. It’s. Fucking. Gorgeous.
And I love how playful you’ve gotten with your lips lately, it’s really inspiring. 🙂
That combination of Squid Ink and Cocoa Crush is just gorgeous. I’m less impressed with the palette though. It looks surprisingly non-versatile for 8 shades.
I don’t know if it’s because I can easily dupe the shades I really love in this right within my stash or if it’s something else, but for some reason I’m just not drawn to this Stack. Yet, I really love how you used it in the look you did with it!
What a beautiful set; I’m adoring the blues. It’s pretty easily duped aside from Dim-out, though.
Seems like there is a bit of controversy brewing over this stack as a lot of the products are arriving broken. I was looking at Melt’s IG and there were several hundred complaints indicating the the product arrived broken. I wasn’t interested in this stack but my daughter was so she was disappointed. She doesn’t want to risk ordering and having it arrived broken. Will wait and see how it all plays out. May be just one batch wasn’t pressed firm enough or something because I haven’t heard of a problem with their other shades that come in the black pans.
I hope they’re able to resolve it! I’m surprised mine arrived okay, lol, I feel like I am usually the recipient of the broken palettes!
Mine arrived with no issues as well.
They have addressed the issue and are taking care of it.
Mel Thompson said in her review that a couple of the shades are extremely crumbly and that you need to press them down after using them or you will lose a lot of product.
2 of my stacks arrived broken! I sent Melt a picture of the broken shades. They replied promptly and sent me a replacement right away. I’m very pleased with their customer service!
I ordered on launch day, and mine arrived broken. Customer service was lovely and they sent me a replacement. That, too, arrived broken. I asked for my money back, and they sent me another replacement. It was broken as well.
There is something wrong with their production, because Deadbolt has THREE TIMES IN A ROW been broken. I highly recommend not ordering this.
This is a stunning stack of eyeshadows, if you happen to love the combination of blues and coppery golds/bronzes. I guess if you had the Beached palette by UD, you wouldn’t need this one.
Love the varying shades of blue and the brand has done these so well.
Gorgeous, beautifu eye look Christine and I LOVE that lip look.
This is sold out on the Melt website, that aside I love the coppers, peaches and the deep red Browns , ,but would have preferred greens and gold in place of the blues .
You are KILLING it with these eye looks, Christine!!!!
Thank you!
LOVE your eye and lip look! It’s the look that sold a thousand stacks! Melt should thank you, or at least send you some free samples to review
DIM-OUT IS SPECTACULAR!!!
Sorry, I’m excited.
Rest of the stack is soooo dupable many times over (in my collection) but I am eagerly awaiting a time when they will start selling that one disc separately so I can slather it ALL OVER MY EYES! ?
I emailed them to ask when they think they’ll start selling the single discs for this (like they do for their other stacks) and the answer is not good:
“We are not quite sure at this time if we will sell individuals for this palette but if we do end up making them we will make sure to make an announcement. 🙂 ”
???
I’ve been tempted to make this my first Melt purchase, but now I realize how similar the blues are to UD Kaleidoscope – at least similar enough for as often as I wear them. I so appreciate the look inspo.
I came in here to shout “LORD ALMIGHTY WOMAN … WHAT IS ON YOUR LIPS??? But I already checked out the “look details” so I know. You’re my makeup-creativity hero!
Hahaha!
You look so beautiful! I really love the whole look you created. I’ve been using this stack all week and I really, really like it. While I know not everyone is going to like everything, most of the reviews I’ve seen of this stack have been tepid, so your positive assessment has validated my feelings 🙂 Dim-Out, Hammered, and Skylight are my favorites of the bunch, with the only dud in my book being Beaming (which made my eyes burn when placed in my inner-corner). Melt has cemented their place as my favorite makeup brand—now all I need is for them to make a palette full of rich jewel tones.
Thank you so much, Sarah! 🙂
