Iconic Red (400)
Make Up For Ever Iconic Red (400) Artist Acrylip ($24.00 for 0.23 oz.) is a bold, bright medium-dark pinky red with cool, blue undertones and a natural sheen. It had more semi-opaque, buildable coverage; it was one of the few shades in the range that I actually felt was truly buildable.
It’s a liquid lipstick formula that is supposed to have “buildable color intensity and shine” with a “non-sticky, non-drying” formula that includes a slanted, flocked applicator and a squeeze-tube format. I don’t know that I would really describe the formula as buildable; I would say that you can apply the tiniest amount and get less coverage, though it would still be medium-to-semi-opaque and have less shine. For me, it seemed that more product yielded glossier coverage with slightly more pigmentation. Iconic Red had a thinner texture than most of the shades in the range, which also resulted in less glossiness in the finish. I noticed more color pulled into my lip lines, but between the intensity and brightness of the shade, it was hard to notice. This shade wore for seven hours and left a strong stain behind. It was neither drying nor hydrating.

Raspberry Red (401)
Make Up For Ever Raspberry Red (401) Artist Acrylip ($24.00 for 0.23 oz.) is a deep red with neutral-to-cool undertones and a glossy finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable coverage that had a more translucent effect to it than the other sahdes, which looked creamier and heavier (though they didn’t feel heavy!). The consistency had more slip, too, and I think this could be a shade that might feather on some, though I did not personally experience it. It lasted well for six and a half hours and was lightly hydrating.

Eggplant (501)
Make Up For Ever Eggplant (501) Artist Acrylip ($24.00 for 0.23 oz.) is a deep brown-based burgundy with warm undertones and a glossy finish. It had semi-sheer, buildable coverage (to about semi-opaque) with a very glossy finish and more slippery texture. Some of the color migrated past my natural lip line, which isn’t something that happens too often to me, so I would recommend using a lip liner with this shade. The texture, while comfortable, seemed too slippery for this type of color, as it yielded uneven coverage. This shade wore for five hours on me.

Both of these colors are gorgeous! I can definitely see where Raspberry Red could feather on some- knowing my luck, I would probably be one of them- but it might be worth the risk for such a nice burgundy.
It definitely has the type of consistency that makes me nervous for others!
I will not buy more reds. I will not buy more reds….Oh but that Iconic Red and Raspberry Red! I’ll be searching for justification to buy them!
lol! Hopefully, 2017 doesn’t have too many lipsticks then 😉
No kidding! I just bagged up 2 dozen this weekend to give away. Not really altruistic…just making room 😉 LOL
I am eagerly waiting for this in the mail!! I am always impressed by MUFE’s formula and range!
Can’t wait for you to try it!
i love mufe lipsticks formula ! i will be getting iconic red only because i am in a no-buy mode 🙁
Enjoy your Iconic Red, Claire!
Well, aren’t I a lucky duck; I’ve got great, high quality dupes of all 3 shades!
Nice to be covered! ?
You are 😀
Raspberry Red is gorgeous!
Agreed!
Raspberry looks so delicious and juicy!
It does! The finish is quite glossy!
I’m with Michele…no mor reds, but I love Iconic Red. So beautiful. Christine, do you apply lipstick using a brush? If so, what is your favorite?
I applied it directly from the tube!
Love those! Your eye look from the Ablaze palette goes very well with those colours! I have one dupe in Bite Beauty 009, so I’m covered for one of these. Good to see they’re permanent so there’s hope for buying the other colours next year.
They look lovely. Not necessarily shades I’d wear, but lovely nonetheless.
Raspberry Red is really nice but I have Coulis!
