MAC x Steve J. & Yoni P. Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Spotlight Me
MAC Spotlight Me Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a light-medium, peachy-coral with warm undertones and a satin sheen. The lipstick was creamy with some slip but did not feel overly slippery on the lips, so it did not slide around or feel like a high maintenance product. It had good pigmentation that covered the lips evenly, though it was shy of being truly opaque on me. There was a smidgen of color that sat in my deeper lip lines but was not noticeable from a normal viewing distance. The color stayed on well for four and a half hours and was lightly hydrating.
The Steve J. and Yoni P. Collection will be available in select stores and online on June 1st.

MAC Lipstick comes in a variety of finishes, and the pigmentation and wear tend to be dependent on the finish. The sheer finishes, like Lustres, tend to wear for only a couple of hours and have sheer coverage (as designed) and are non-drying.
Some of the original Matte shades have a stiffer, drier formula, while newer ones have a more velvety, silicone-feel to them, and the latter are creamier, more comfortable to wear, and easier to apply, but most Matte shades are quite pigmented and long-wearing, though some are drying.
The Amplified and Satin finishes tend to have good pigmentation, lightly creamy to moderately creamy consistencies with a bit of shine, and moderate to long wear with deeper, richer shades wearing longer. The Frost and Metallic finishes have the most variance between shades with coverage ranging from semi-sheer to opaque with average wear and non-drying to slightly drying formulas. All MAC lipsticks are vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste.

Yoni Crush
MAC Yoni Crush Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a brighter, medium-dark red with neutral-to-warm undertones and fine gold and pink pearl over a creamy finish. The color coverage was semi-opaque and buildable to mostly opaque coverage, though my lip freckle peeked through at all times. The consistency was creamy, smooth, and emollient without being too slippery, as I felt there was a touch of tackiness that helped the lipstick to adhere well to the lips and helped it to not feather or bleed on me. It lasted for five and a half hours, left a stain behind, and was lightly hydrating.

Candy Yum Yum
MAC Candy Yum Yum Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a neon, cotton candy pink with strong, blue undertones and a satin finish. It had good pigmentation–just a little shy of opaque in places–with a creamy consistency that wasn’t too heavy or too thin. There was a slight bit of color that sat in my lip lines, though. This shade is part of the permanent range, so it can be purchased in standard packaging at any time. On me, it wore well for over six hours and was slightly drying toward the end of wear.

A Killing Smile
MAC A Killing Smile Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark fuchsia-red with subtle, cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had, rich, opaque pigmentation that applied evenly to the lips and did not tug on them during application. The consistency was smooth, almost velvety as it glided on, and lightweight. The color was still mostly intact after six hours of wear and was slightly drying after five hours of wear.

Just wanna confirm, steve j. & yoni p’s version of candy yum yum is in satin finish?
Hi Liz,
The descriptions are mine, not MAC’s.
I wonder if this collection is going to be available at Mac counters in Macys. I hope so because I would like to get a lipstick, the dazzle shadow duo, and perhaps the peachy blush. I’m torn between spotlight me or a killing smile for lipstick though. I had wanted to get the peachy lip shade form fruity juicy but it looked like it leaned more brown than peach. So I went with love at first bite. I just want at least one for packaging. Lol
My guess would be no but you could call your local counter – usually “select locations” means bigger stores (NYC/LA/SF).
Yay! Just in time. I’m going to try to get A Killing Smile and Candy Yum Yum for a friend. The blushes don’t look like they suit me and I really want something from this collection, so I’m glad the lipsticks got good ratings 🙂
Perfect 😀
Yoni Crush is gorgeous! I’m a sucker for a good red and that looks to be a good red. I hope the collection doesn’t sell out lightning fast, I would love to get a lipstick and a blush!
I love a beautiful red, too, Sarah! 🙂 MAC sure knows how to make one!
I am so glad to see that all 4 did very well! The 2 that I had previously said that was interested in, Spotlight Me and A Killing Smile, are duped within my hoard, however. Although, it would appear that Spotlight Me has a softer, more coral tinged look to it compared to my tube of Reel Sexy. So Idk?
The shocker was how truly magnificent Yoni Crush looks! And NOT duped in my bunch of reds, either! Therefore, that’s the one for me!?
Yoni Crush is so rich!
Yoni Crush is really nice. Feels more holiday though!
I could see that!
I’m glad these rated well! I am really digging A Killing Smile, both in shade and finish.
Happy to hear it 🙂
I always get excited when there is a recommended product by you! Please let me know the speciality of Yoni Crush lipstick as it seems like a normal red and so many other Mac reds.
It’s just a very lovely red and is of great quality 🙂
The Yoni Red is stunning!
It is!
Oooh, I want A Killing Smile. I have Candy Yum Yum in the regular MAC packaging, but these cute tubes make it tempting to get a backup.
Have you made a good dent in your original CYY?
Decent, but there’s still a lot left.
A Killing Smile will probably end up in my MAC lipstick collection. I really want Yoni Crush as well, but I do have UD F-Bomb, so maybe I’ll just skip it. I really do love F-Bomb though, I think it’s the best red ever for me and what if Yoni Crush is even better!?!?! I think I need professional help 😀
LOL! Well, if you wear F-Bomb often, then maybe if you’re close to finishing it then it makes sense to gt Yoni Crush?
I think I might already have something similar to A Killing Smile, but the packaging makes me want to get it anyway!
Definitely check your stash for dupes!
Thanks for the awesome reviews! Those shades look amazing on you 🙂 Definitely want to get A Killing Smile, maaaybe Spotlight Me too?
Sorry if this is redundant–I didn’t see the reviews for them–but how would you describe the quality of the eyeshadow duos? Worth getting? Thanks 🙂
Hi Mary!
I reviewed both duos: Touch Me Baby, Midnight Fever
Awesome, thanks so much! (Sorry, didn’t see them when I did a search earlier :/ )
I just received “Spotlight Me” yesterday and I’m obsessed. What a beautiful color and texture. Almost reminds me of Riot House, but not as matte. Love the brushes and the bag too!
