MAC Sock-it Xiqu Cream Colour Base
MAC Sock-it Xiqu Cream Colour Base

MAC Sock-it Xiqu Cream Colour Base ($23.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “dirty lavender.” It’s a bright, light-medium lavender with cool undertones and a pearly sheen. It had sheer, buildable color payoff with a lightweight, emollient consistency that applied easily to skin and blended out well. I like to pat it on with fingertips and then use a synthetic brush to blend out. The color lasted for seven hours on me. ColourPop Howlin' (P, $4.50) is darker, less glossy (90% similar). ColourPop Two to Mango (P, $4.50) is less glossy (90% similar). MAC Full of Joy (P, $24.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). ColourPop No Sleep (PiP, $4.50) is less shimmery (90% similar). Natasha Denona Naga (344CM) (LE, ) is less shimmery, warmer, less glossy (85% similar). Fenty Beauty Concrete Lavender (LE, ) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (85% similar). Natasha Denona Feather (434CM) (LE, ) is less shimmery, warmer, less glossy (85% similar). NARS Sex Fantasy (LE, $30.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Urban Decay Optimized (PiP, $19.00) is less shimmery, warmer, less glossy (85% similar). ColourPop Macaroon (PiP, $4.50) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (85% similar). Huda Beauty Lilac #7 (LE, ) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (85% similar). Viseart Cool Mattes 2 #4 (PiP, ) is darker, less glossy (85% similar). About Face Freaked (P, $16.00) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (80% similar). Makeup Geek Secret Admirer (DC, $9.99) is darker, warmer (80% similar). ColourPop Brr Baby (LE, $4.50) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (80% similar). Sephora Over the Moon (14) (DC, $14.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). Viseart Liaison (Violette) (PiP, ) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

MAC Rich Coral Cream Colour Base ($23.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as an “orange.” It’s a medium orange with warm undertones and a natural sheen. It had sheer, buildable pigmentation that applied well and blended out easily. It worked well over liquid foundation as well as over bare skin. The naturally emollient consistency (which doesn’t dry down) gives the skin a soft glow. This shade wore well for seven and a half hours on me. This shade is also part of the permanent range. A note: CCBs typically come with advisory sheets as some shades are not recommend for eyes and/or lips, but mine were press samples and none had those sheets, so I am not sure if this is eye safe (a lot of pinks/reds are not). Melt Cosmetics RBF (LE, ) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (90% similar). MAC Honey Jasmine (LE, $24.00) is lighter, less glossy (90% similar). ColourPop Dynamite (LE, $4.50) is less glossy (90% similar). Makeup Geek Summer Fling (DC, $9.99) is less glossy (90% similar). ColourPop Bonus (DC, $8.00) is less glossy (90% similar). ColourPop Get Leid (P, $8.00) is less glossy (90% similar). Inglot #45 Face Blush (P, $10.00) is less glossy (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty African Violet #4 (PiP, ) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (85% similar). YSL Rebelle (7) (P, $47.00) is lighter, less glossy (85% similar). Natasha Denona Tone (223CP) (PiP, ) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler (85% similar). Sephora Fire Opal (PiP, ) is less shimmery, cooler, less glossy (85% similar). ColourPop Pass It On (LE, $4.50) is less shimmery, darker, less glossy (80% similar). Natasha Denona Jasper (PiP, ) is less shimmery, darker, less glossy (80% similar). MAC Peony Pavillion Cream Colour Base ($23.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “hot pink.” It’s a medium pink with subtle, cool undertones and very fine pearl. It is pretty much the color of what I think of when I hear “pink peonies.” It had semi-sheer, buildable coverage with a natural sheen. The consistency is thin, emollient, and almost “greasy” as it never dries down on the skin. It lasted for seven hours on cheeks. A note: CCBs typically come with advisory sheets as some shades are not recommend for eyes and/or lips, but mine were press samples and none had those sheets, so I am not sure if this is eye safe (a lot of pinks/reds are not). ColourPop Mochi (DC, $8.00) is lighter, less glossy (90% similar). Maybelline Pink Fever (20) (P, $8.99) is more shimmery, lighter, brighter (90% similar). Urban Decay Quickie (DC, $26.00) is cooler, less glossy (90% similar). Makeup Geek Rendezvous (DC, $9.99) is less glossy (90% similar). MAC Pink Swoon (P, $24.00) is lighter, less glossy (90% similar). Too Faced Justify My Love (P, $26.00) is lighter, less glossy (90% similar). MAC Sweet Sentiment (LE, $29.00) is more shimmery, darker, cooler (85% similar). Milani Delizioso Pink (10) (DC, $7.99) is lighter, brighter, less glossy (85% similar). KIKO 110 Bright Pink (P, $12.00) is lighter, warmer, less glossy (85% similar). Make Up For Ever #210 HD Blush (DC, $26.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). ColourPop Thumper (P, $8.00) is lighter, less glossy (85% similar). Makeup Geek Head Over Heels (DC, $9.99) is lighter, less glossy (85% similar). ColourPop Olive (LE, $8.00) is more shimmery, lighter, less glossy (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

I never thought I’d be saying this at my age, but I really want the CCB in Rich Coral because I love the packaging. It’s a good colour for me and I don’t already have any thing in this particular formula.

Looks like I will need to get Sock It Xiqu! It’s such a unique color. Also, blushes tend to pull warm pink on me, so I’m hoping this will help “cool” down any pink/ purple blushes, and help me pull off cooler toned pink/purple lippies, like Plum Princess

I really like the lavender one, but don’t often use cream blushes of the variety that stay tacky and aren’t cream-to-powder. I’ll think about it. I love you wearing the whole collection lol. Somehow the purple lipstick especially ties it together.

OMG Your makeup is so gorgeous! :0
You’re so good at matching together interesting colour schemes and blending. I’m kind of getting inspired to wear tropical-themed eyeshadow and lipstick, now. hmmm

Your eyes though, Christine! Soooo beautiful and colorful! Looove it! Summer “in a bottle” 🙂

Did not think I’d want anything from this collection despite the cutest packaging, but it looks like Sock-it Xiqu Cream Colour Base is a good candidate for my stash. Glad that it got a good rate from you, hope a) it gets to our end of the World eventually, b) does not cost an arm and a leg here and, most importantly c) suits me enough to justify the purchase. Look forward to seeing it live.

Hi Christine! Thank you so much for the reply.

We normally do, yes. Not every single one (I.e. don’t think we had the Bao Bao Wan one here), but almost all for sure. We have Charlotte Olympia currently, I think. A little rant though. 1. We get them a month or two later than you guys do (that I can survive) and 2. They markup the prices on those so bad usually, I feel like being ripped off 🙂 Example. Not long ago we had Zac Posen collection in our store. They were asking the equivalent of ~$26 for the lipstick! I mean c’mon. We are not Norway here. So, again, yes we do get them, but the more special/unique the packaging is, the more they markup the prices. Rant over 🙂

I do hope we get this launch too, really want to check in out 🙂

On the positive note (I probably sounded like negative Nancy) we do get so many great deals on the brands other than MAC and Becca that I shouldn’t complain really. So life is mostly good in this makeup addict’s land, thanks so much for helping me navigate through that sea of choices 🙂

I know I’ve complimented your skills many times, but daaaaaang. I’m not worthy ::::Wayne and Garth bow:::: ?? I would not have believed those colors could all be combined to form an actual wearable look. I wasn’t interested in this collection enough to really pay attention, now that I know those are CCBs I’m interested. My dry skin loves them. I’m thinking I want the peony and the lavender. I did get that select promo code for$10 off so it’s actually saving money to get them….right?
