MAC x Caitlyn Jenner Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Authentic Red
MAC Authentic Red Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a medium-dark ruby red with cooler undertones and fine, red pearl paired with a natural sheen–a little shine but not truly glossy. The consistency was denser and lightly tacky, so the bullet dragged a bit as it applied but moved more readily as the warmth of my lips melted the lipstick. It had semi-opaque color coverage, which was somewhat buildable, that went on evenly. It wore well for five hours, left a subtle, reddish stain behind, and was neither drying nor hydrating.

MAC Lipstick comes in a variety of finishes, and the pigmentation and wear tend to be dependent on the finish. The sheer finishes, like Lustres, tend to wear for only a couple of hours and have sheer coverage (as designed) and are non-drying.
Some of the original Matte shades have a stiffer, drier formula, while newer ones have a more velvety, silicone-feel to them, and the latter are creamier, more comfortable to wear, and easier to apply, but most Matte shades are quite pigmented and long-wearing, though some are drying.
The Amplified and Satin finishes tend to have good pigmentation, lightly creamy to moderately creamy consistencies with a bit of shine, and moderate to long wear with deeper, richer shades wearing longer. The Frost and Metallic finishes have the most variance between shades with coverage ranging from semi-sheer to opaque with average wear and non-drying to slightly drying formulas. All MAC lipsticks are vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste.

Rock it
MAC Rock It Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a muted, medium rose brown with subtle, warm undertones and a natural sheen. It had semi-sheer, buildable coverage (up to semi-opaque) with a thin, lightly tacky texture that sat fairly well on the lips. The lipstick dragged initially when applied, but as the bullet warmed up against my lips, it spread better and felt more malleable. On me, this shade wore well for three and a half hours and was neither drying nor hydrating.

Understanding
MAC Understanding Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark coral with warm, orange undertones and a natural sheen. The lipstick was thinner, lightly tacky but applied more evenly than other semi-sheer to semi-opaque lipsticks have in the past. The consistency took a few seconds to soften and warm-up against my lips, but once it did, it glided on with minimal drag. It wore well for four hours and was a touch drying for me.
FYI, this shade is available exclusively online.

All 3 look really nice on you. I still feel ok that I skipped buying any of them though. The shades don’t feel particularly unique.
Thanks, Michele! I don’t think they’re unique either! There are even some dupes within MAC’s permanent range for a couple if not all (can’t remember off the top of my head).
I think Rock It is on my list – I’m surprisingly loving a lot of the products in this collection! Definitely would have been better if they donate proceeds of the sale too like they did with Caitlyn’s first lipstick!
It would have been fantastic if they did that!
Authentic Red is stunning!
It is a pretty red!
Authentic Red is a pretty color (but I have a mini of Legendary 🙂 )
And a mini will last awhile!
Love Rock It and Understanding looks lovely as well! Really like the lip products in this collection.
They are pretty!
I like the color of Rock It, but it looks like a Lustre finish which just doesn’t work for me.
All three are Cremesheens!
Are all of these Cremesheens?
Yes!
Very dupable shades right within my stash, but obviously pretty because I do have dupes. My wallet is happy! And so am I!
Phew 🙂
I like the sheerness of Rock it! I don’t like super super opaque nudes on me, it just looks weird with my full lips, and draws too much attention.
I’ll be checking out the dupes for it!
Understanding is a beautiful, brightening shade on you!
All of those colors are very flattering on you! Your makeup was super pretty today, loved the eyes, they really popped!
Authentic Red is very nice. I like it.
The Authentic Red shade is lovely and it complements the set.
Your makeup look is divine! I didn’t think I would but I like all 3 of these lipsticks.
