Saint No Angel

MAC Saint No Angel Look in a Box Lip Kit ($26.50 for 0.28 oz.) includes travel-sized lipsticks and lipglosses (two of each) in shades of peach/mauve–I liked that the set was more two duos in a box. In the past, MAC has released lip kits that featured full-sized products at a higher price tag, and I’m digging the travel-sized shades with the more palatable $26.50 price tag. Each Lipstick is 0.06 oz. (full-sized is 0.10 oz.) and each Lipglass is 0.08 fl. oz. (full-sized is 0.10 fl. oz.), which puts the value of the set at $47.60: $20.40 worth of lipstick and $27.20 worth of lipgloss.

Dandy Apple

Dandy Apple is a peachy-pink with subtle, warm undertones and a cream finish. It had good pigmentation that covered the lips evenly with just a touch of color in my deeper lip lines. The texture was lightweight, creamy enough not to tug but did not slide around when worn, and was comfortable to wear. It lasted for four hours and was lightly hydrating.

Formula Overview

$19.00/0.1 oz. - $190.00 Per Ounce

MAC Lipstick comes in a variety of finishes, and the pigmentation and wear tend to be dependent on the finish. The sheer finishes, like Lustres, tend to wear for only a couple of hours and have sheer coverage (as designed) and are non-drying.

Some of the original Matte shades have a stiffer, drier formula, while newer ones have a more velvety, silicone-feel to them, and the latter are creamier, more comfortable to wear, and easier to apply, but most Matte shades are quite pigmented and long-wearing, though some are drying.

The Amplified and Satin finishes tend to have good pigmentation, lightly creamy to moderately creamy consistencies with a bit of shine, and moderate to long wear with deeper, richer shades wearing longer. The Frost and Metallic finishes have the most variance between shades with coverage ranging from semi-sheer to opaque with average wear and non-drying to slightly drying formulas. All MAC lipsticks are vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste.

Love Me Lots

Love Me Lots is a muted, medium mauve with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. It was richly pigmented with a velvety, smooth consistency that glided on without tugging and applied even color with ease. This shade stayed on well for five hours but was a touch drying.

Saint No Angel

Saint No Angel is a light, pinky peach with warm undertones and fine peach and gold pearl. It had semi-sheer color coverage that applied evenly and gave my lips a lighter, glossy look with lots of shimmer. It would work well as an easy, go-to gloss or layered over a more pigmented lip color. The texture was lightweight with moderate tackiness. It wore well for four hours and was lightly hydrating.

Formula Overview

$21.00/0.1 oz. - $210.00 Per Ounce

The Lipglass formula is supposed to be “pigmented, very shiny and can impart subtle or dramatic color” that can be worn “on its own, over lip pencil or lipstick” and will “condition lips.” MAC could use an update on the description as some shades are more pigmented than others but several are sheerer and likely intended to be that way. The formula has a very glossy, high-shine finish with a light-medium weight and moderate tackiness.

I have found that newer Lipglasses (over the last couple of years) are smoother and not quite as tacky as the formula was many years ago. They wear from three to six hours on me and are usually lightly hydrating. MAC recently updated the shade range and packaging for the range (though the formula was said to be unchanged), so worth noting is that with that packaging change came a reduction in quantity to 0.10 fl. oz. (was 0.17 fl. oz.), which may matter for some but not everyone.

Totally Buff

Totally Buff is a muted, medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and fine gold pearl. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied evenly but had some color pool in my lip lines. The consistency was moderately sticky, light-medium in thickness, and smooth on the lips. The gloss lasted for four and a half hours on me and was lightly moisturizing.

Oh my gosh! I love this set so much! However, it needs to wait until after this particular weekend is over with. Because this Friday through Sunday is my annual Regional Convention in Tucson. I’m *still* in the process of mapping out each days mu LOTD. Figured out Friday’s, possibly Saturday’s, too. Stumped on Sunday… would love having this set to use on Sunday!

Is the quality of packaging on the mini lipsticks the same as on the full size? I know sometimes (in the case of many Sephora points lipstick minis) the quality of the plastic is thinner and cheaper, or parts that are usually “metal” or just a silver colored sticker instead of an actual separate piece. I’ve never seen MAC’s mini lipsticks, so I’m curious.

Okay, I absolutely need “Love me lots”! I might actually get the set just for this lipstick as it doesn’t seem to be available regularly?

Thanks for the quick response, Christine! In that case, I’ll ask at my MAC counter tomorrow when they’ll get it and to set one aside for me. 🙂
