MAC Out for Fun Lip & Cheek Colour
MAC Out for Fun Casual Colour Lip & Cheek Colour ($20.00 for 0.43 fl. oz.) is a muted, medium-dark orange with a little hint of red, so it has a coral-like tint. On cheeks, it looks like a peachy-tangerine, and it can be built up to a more intense shade of orange. MAC Optimistic Orange is more orange. It’s like a cream version of MAC Modern Mandarin. Make Up For Ever #5 is similar but matte. On the lips, it has a coral-orange appearance with opaque color coverage, but it definitely comes out more coral on the lips than when applied to the cheeks. Laura Mercier Kissed Lips is pinker. NYX Haute Melon is a smidgen pinker. Guerlain Nahema is darker. NARS Niagara is a touch pinker. Laura Mercier Tangerine is very close. MAC Crosswires is also quite similar!
For an in-depth review of the formula, please see this post. The main takeaways were that as a blush, this yields a dewy finish that might be just the wrong side of dewy for some, but it may be the perfect recipe for those with drier skin; as a lip color, the finish is more like a satin matte, and it has a slightly clingy nature that works as a way to make the color lightweight and very natural-looking.
Out for Fun is a great summer shade–it’s that warm pop of coral that so many brands offer during the warmer season. It looks more coral on the lipsthan on the cheeks, due to the natural pinkness often found on bare lips. As one of the darker shades in the launch, it’s flattering across the spectrum of skin colors, from light to dark and everything in-between. Those with warmer undertones will find it slightly more complementary than those with really cool undertones. When I wore this shade for testing, it lasted seven hours on the cheeks and five hours on the lips.

Thank you for the swatches, Christine; I always appreciate your work! I am curious about something, though. I know you’ve stated that this colour is almost universally flattering, but do you think the formula can be sheered out enough to look natural on relatively pale (NC/W15) cheeks?
@twostoreys Of course – you can definitely sheer these out as much as you’d like, since they have a lot of slickness, so they spread/blend out well. Just use the smallest amount possible!
I love this shade. Bright tangerine blushes are my faves for summer.
I love this one! One question – have you tried using a translucent setting powder over these? Does it work to take away some of the dewiness?
@Emi at Project Swatch It will take away some of the dewiness! 🙂
This is my favorite so far – such a lovely shade! But of course, Christine, you always make every product look its best and make me want it 🙂 !!
Corals (and just about every other colors) are great on you!
i dont get the whole shiny-greasy cheek look of cream blushes…
Keep in mind that Christine’s application and yours will vary. It also depends on skin type (as stated in her original review) what it will look like on each person.
Christine, this color is “perfect” for you for a light, natural makeup look, for the pool or beach & for hot, steamy summer days. Definitely grab a backup or 2.
That is gorgeous on you Christine! Probably the best of all of the Casual Colours I’ve seen on you so far. Not for me sadly as anything with a slight orangey undertone looks rubbish on my in my experience- I look better in the cool toned pinks and lilacs. This collection really does have something for everyone. I’d get several of these if I was you Christine!
Hi! How similar is this to Ever Hip? Thank you! =]
Ever Hip is pinker!
This colour looks beautiful on you! Very summer-appropriate 🙂 I’m really leaning towards getting a few pots of these, but like you said they do have the potential to spoil easily…Also, you mentioned it tends to “cling” onto the lips –are you referring to the slight “tightening” experienced with the prolong wear lip cremes? Would you recommend these over the prolong wears in terms of comfort/staying power? Thank you! xoxo
More like they feel like a second skin on the lips – not the tightening of a PLW though.
All of these look SO good on you!
How would you compare this to Illamasqua Rude? They look pretty similar in your blended out swatches, is there any reason to own both?
Rude is more of a true orange, whereas this has red tones to it! It depends on how often you’d wear a color like this, I’d say. http://www.temptalia.com/illamasqua-rude-cream-blush-review-photos-swatches
I don’t usually like orangey lip/cheek colours but this looks absolutely gorgeous! ! I’m going to swatch this asap as I’m slightly worried it won’t suit my very pale skin tone. It looks so lovely on you Christine!
Everyone’s already said it, but WOW this is gorgeous on you! A keeper for sure!
Beautiful! Do you know how this compares to Illamasqua Rude cream blush?
Rude is a little lighter and more orange – no red-tones! http://www.temptalia.com/illamasqua-rude-cream-blush-review-photos-swatches
How does it compare to Benefit’s ChaCha Ting, color-wise?
Lovely! How does it compare to Benefit’s ChaCha Tint, color-wise?
I find that this looks almost identical to Vegas Volt. -____-
