MAC One Hit & Beck and Call Matte Lip Mousses Reviews & Swatches
One Hit
MAC One Hit Matte Lip Mousse ($20.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark peachy brown with warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had semi-sheer color coverage in a single layer, which was buildable to semi-opaque coverage with a second layer.
The texture was lightweight, watery without being too wet, and had some of that airy, whipped quality of a true, mousse-like consistency would have. The color applied evenly but sank into my lip lines and emphasized them. It wore well for four and a half hours and felt non-drying.

Formula Overview
$20.00/0.24 oz. - $83.33 Per Ounce
The product is supposed to have "immediate and long-term hydration" paired with a "long-wearing," "sheer-to-medium buildable coverage" formula that has a "soft matte finish" that wears for "eight hours." All of the shades had the typical vanilla scent (but no discernible taste). The pigmentation was more medium coverage with some getting closer to semi-opaque coverage using one pull of product (applying across my lips using what was on the applicator after removing from the tube). To get sheerer coverage, you'd have to wipe away the excess or spread out with fingertips.
The texture was like a watery mousse; it didn't seem as whipped or as airy as a typical mousse, but it was very lightweight, thin, and had a soft-set--still some transfer initially but wore down to a transfer-resistant finish after a gentle blot or some drinking (where some product transferred onto the glass). The product didn't feel "wet" or creamy after it was applied. The finish was more satiny to me and wore down to semi-matte within an hour and then further mattified after one to two hours of wear. Some shades applied evenly and sat well on my lips, while others were streaky, patchy, or separated along and emphasized my lip lines.
The formula did not seem to be hydrating either immediately or long-term, as I felt like my lips were always drier and a bit worse for the wear after wearing the products for 16-18 hours per day. I did not use lip balm for 48 hours, and my lips started to crack, so I had to resume my normal use of lip balm (at night, while I sleep). They were long-wearing and flexible/comfortable to wear for the most part, and most of the shades lasted five to six hours with some lasting closer to the eight hours claimed. I didn't experience any feathering/bleeding during wear.

Beck and Call
MAC Beck and Call Matte Lip Mousse ($20.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a medium-dark plum with cooler undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had buildable pigmentation from semi-opaque (one layer) to opaque (two layers), and the only way to get sheerer coverage would be to wipe off excess prior to application or to dab on the center of the lips and use a fingertip to spread and diffuse the color.
The consistency was lightweight, spreadable, and felt like a watery mousse, a little airy but not as whipped, and the color applied evenly across my lips without emphasizing my lip lines noticeably. It stayed on well for six and a half hours and felt a touch drying over time.

Something about these reminds me of ColourPop Blur liquid lipsticks. Probably due to yours and MACah0lic’s descriptions of them, I’m getting that thought on them, except for them not sounding as drying. Beck & Call is very fresh, almost Spring-like! And believe it or not, I actually like One Hit, too. It really doesn’t look as bad as it sounds, tbh! But I’m more intrigued by the darker and redder shades, so I’ll stay tuned…
They have a similar effect for sure, Nancy! I think these actually apply a little more kindly to lips overall.
It’s a shame that One Hit wasn’t better as it’s a nice peachy kind of shade. Beck and Call looked good too.
Deck & Call is lovely!
I really like Beck & Call. While Colourpop Chance isn’t an exact dupe, I think it’s close enough for me to not have both, otherwise I would love to have it. I like that collection’s packaging too.
I got One Hit and Stone’s Throw and my experience is similar to yours, but I love it for all the reasons it’s rating pulled down. I have never used a mousse-type lip product like this before — it’s so easy to get that stained popsicle pout, K-beauty look. I love the texture and it’s really easy to control the amount of color. The staying power is alright though. I’m very tempted to pick up the brick red one and a deeper pink.
