Love Weapon
MAC Love Weapon Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Metallic ($21.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a medium-dark, reddish berry with cool undertones and flecks of sparkle. This did not look very metallic on; it seemed more matte with some sparkle thrown in. The coverage was medium, buildable with a second or third layer. The texture was rather watery, took longer to dry, and was harder to control on the lips as it wanted to move too readily across my lips. This shade wore well for six and a half hours, left a stain behind, and was somewhat drying.

Formula Overview
$21.00/0.17 oz. - $123.53 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "pure matte metallic colour" that "lasts and lasts" for eight hours. Most of the shades were quite pigmented--semi-opaque to opaque--and applied evenly, though there were a few misses that had more watery textures that either lacked in pigmentation or went on patchily. I'd say about half the range felt non-drying over time but some were noticeably drying. They were vanilla-scented but had no discernible taste.

Crowned
MAC Crowned Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Metallic ($21.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a deep burgundy with subtle, cool undertones and a metallic sheen. It was richly pigmented and applied smoothly and evenly across the lips without dragging or feathering along the edge. The texture was lightweight, thin without being watery or patchy in application, and it was comfortable on the lips after it dried down as it did not cling. It stayed on beautifully for eight hours on me, but it did start to feel a tad drying after six hours of wear.

Atomized
MAC Atomized Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Metallic ($21.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a medium-dark purple with subtle, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied fairly evenly, but the the consistency was on the thinner side and needed some care to ensure an even, smooth application. I would recommend waiting for it to dry and then applying a second layer if full coverage is desired. The formula itself dried down quickly but did not feel clingy or dry on, and the thinner texture kept the color from flaking off as it wore away. On me, it lasted for seven hours and was only slightly drying after five hours of wear.

Crowned is a beautiful shade, but the first lip gloss was pretty poor.
Luckily I don’t care for the retro matte formula and returned all of the ones I had purchased a couple of years ago. The colors are pretty and will be nice for someone who likes the formula. It wore off in a funny manner, was so drying on my lips and felt uncomfortable to wear. Not a fan, unfortunately.
Rats, rats and double rats about Love Weapon just not being very good – I just love the colour and it seems so hard to find a darker pinky- red!!!
OMG, I’m not a fan of retro matte formulas, but Atomized is stunning and tempting me to try it!
I don’t use any lip products that are drying. Period . If its drying on you after 6 hours it means it would be drying on me in 6 minutes. But for those who like these matte liquid lip products its a shame about Love Weapon’s poor score, the color is so beautiful. It would have been my favorite.
Atomized looks beautiful! It is a shame that the Love Weapon got a bad performance because I like the colour as well!
I wish I had seen your review before I bought Love Weapon. I have Crowned and it’s great! So based on that I got Love Weapon, but was pretty disappointed. It doesn’t apply as smoothly and felt too dry/cakey from the get go.
Do you think it’s a formula issue with red(ish) metallics? I have a Milani amore metallic liquid lip in Overdramatic and it’s also weird in terms of application and formula (needs several coats, and then feels a bit on the dry side).
