Double Fudge

MAC Double Fudge Lipstick ($18.50 for 0.1 oz.) is a deep, reddish-brown with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which adhered evenly and applied smoothly across my lips without dragging. The consistency was lightweight, dense but not too stiff to work with, and didn’t slide around when worn. It stayed on well for five and a half hours, left a faint stain behind, and was non-drying.

Formula Overview

$19.50/0.1 oz. - $195.00 Per Ounce

MAC Lipstick comes in a variety of finishes, and the pigmentation and wear tend to be dependent on the finish. The sheer finishes, like Lustres, tend to wear for only a couple of hours and have sheer coverage (as designed) and are non-drying. Some of the original Matte shades have a stiffer, drier formula, while newer ones have a more velvety, silicone-feel to them, and the latter are creamier, more comfortable to wear, and easier to apply, but most Matte shades are quite pigmented and long-wearing, though some are drying. The Amplified and Satin finishes tend to have good pigmentation, lightly creamy to moderately creamy consistencies with a bit of shine, and moderate to long wear with deeper, richer shades wearing longer. The Frost and Metallic finishes have the most variance between shades with coverage ranging from semi-sheer to opaque with average wear and non-drying to slightly drying formulas. All MAC lipsticks are vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste.

Move Your Body

MAC Move Your Body Lipstick ($18.50 for 0.1 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark brown with subtle, warm undertones and a cream finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage in a single layer, which applied fairly evenly but had some room for improvement. The texture was lightly creamy, emollient without feeling too slippery, and comfortable to apply and to wear. It lasted well for four and a half hours and was lightly hydrating over time.

Move Your Body reminds me immediately of a Revlon lipstick I wore to death back in the 90’s that looked so good on me then. Probably not now, though. Not with my teeth. I do still love it anyway.

Have 2 solid close dupes for Double Fudge, so I’m not going to let myself fall in love with it! But, I really love these deep, rich brown shades as nude options for those who have deeper skintones, and also for those who just love 90’s lips like me, LOL!

I think the Revlon lipstick you referenced was called Bali Brown! I had that one, as well as L’Oreal Spice & Mahogany, as well as a Maybelline one, Chocolate-something (with matching nail polish) that I wore quite often… I’ve totally forgotten how much I really loved deep brown lippies… And yes, this was back in the mid-/late-90s, LOL!

Yep, that’s the one, Amy! Also wore the Bali Brown eyeshadow to death, too.
Throw in WnWW 666 lip pencil, bronzer…oh, it was on with my heavily highlighted, spiral permed hair!

I can’t even begin to could how many of those Wet n Wild pencils I must have gone through in college alone, LOL! I was in a Theatre program, and someone discovered it was a dead-on dupe for our coveted lip cream I our Been Nye kits, and literally every woman in my class was wearing it daily, and it was so flattering on all of us… That would have been ’93/’94… Revlon Coffee Bean was another one… I also had a slew of Jordana lipstick, since back then they were a dollar, and I had several browns.

Now I want a deep brown lipstick…

Move Your Body looks so different in the tube than on the skin. I like how it actually looks, but it would be beautiful (albeit not quite as nude!) if that microshimmer were visible when worn.

Double Fudge is stunning, but I’m willing to bet without checking that I have a few “close enough” lip colors already.
