MAC Lap Dog & Dressed to the K9s Mineralize Lipglasses Reviews, Photos, Swatches
MAC Lap Dog Mineralize Glass
MAC Lap Dog Mineralize Glass ($23.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is described as a “pale light pinky nude.” It’s a light, milky beige with warm undertones and finer pink shimmer and white sparkle. It noticeably lightens my lips and gives a layer of semi-sheer coverage. The gloss settles into lip lines, but the more medium-weight consistency manages to make it appear less disastrous than a lot of similarly-hued glosses on. It disappears within two hours of wear, though, and it was slightly hydrating after wearing it twice in a row. MAC Softly Lit (P, $20.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Maybelline Sandy Sensation (115) (LE, ) is less shimmery, lighter (95% similar). MAC Happiness (LE, $22.00) is darker, cooler (95% similar). KKW Beauty Super Nude (LE, $18.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). ColourPop Just Cuddle (P, $8.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Chanel Zephyr (377) (LE, $30.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). MAC Flair for Finery (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Charlotte Tilbury Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds (L.S.D.) (LE, $22.00) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). Hourglass Imagine (P, $28.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). MAC Saint No Angel (LE, $21.00) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). MAC Deco-a-Go-Go (LE, $21.00) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). Maybelline Life's a Peach (P, $4.49) is less shimmery, cooler (90% similar). Charlotte Tilbury Bardot Beige (P, $22.00) is less shimmery, warmer (90% similar). MAC Girl on Board (LE, $21.00) is more shimmery, more pigmented (90% similar). MAC Dressed to the K9s Mineralize Glass ($23.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is described as a “deep burgundy plum.” It’s a medium-dark, plummy red with subtle, warm undertones and a glossy shine. It had no shimmer and yielded semi-sheer to semi-opaque coverage on its own. It settles into lip lines, though the higher shine coupled with the darker color made it less noticeable from a normal viewing distance. It wore well for four hours on me and was neither drying nor hydrating. Chanel Distinction (21) (P, $34.00) is lighter, warmer (95% similar). Urban Decay Vice (DC, $26.00) is cooler (95% similar). MAC Sultana (LE, $20.00) is darker, more muted, warmer (90% similar). Chanel Crazy Fuchsia (194) (LE, $30.00) is more shimmery, brighter (90% similar). MAC Modern Lure (LE, $21.00) is more shimmery, darker, more muted (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Studded Kiss (310) (DC, $28.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Dior Intrigue (995) (P, $35.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). MAC Lust for Life (LE, $21.00) is more shimmery, brighter (90% similar). NARS Shade III (LE, $26.00) is lighter, more muted (90% similar). Maybelline Caviar Couture (050) (P, $8.99) is brighter (90% similar). NARS Sixties Fan (P, $26.00) is lighter (85% similar). Chanel Crushed Cherry (DC, $30.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). MAC Warp Speed Ahead (LE, $21.00) is more shimmery, cooler (85% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Red Corset (P, $54.00) is darker, brighter (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
FORMULA SUMMARY | MAC Mineralize Glass ($23.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is marketed primarily as a hydrating formula with a “luminous, modern shine.” The shade range has run semi-sheer, lightly to moderately tacky, and lightly hydrating to just non-drying. The wear depends on the shade with lighter shades lasting two hours, while darker shades are more apparent for three to four hours (at most). They are vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste.

I’m not impressed by either. The wear time is poor and the creeping into lip lines is a turn off and what is up with the price?! These cost more than lip glass which seem to perform better! I have Bardot Beige and Water Deites which are close enough to Lap Dog. I really like the look of Lap Dog minus the lip line settling. But, I refuse to pay that much for a two hour wear time. Looks like most of the dupes are LE or low on the ratings. So, I’ll survive with those two. As for Dressed to the K9’s, UD Vice just shot up on my wish list! I need that one soon! 🙂
I wish the formula was better 🙁 It’s just okay (for sheerer gloss – don’t find that there are THAT many amazing sheer glosses!).
Nicole, not sure if you’ve noticed another rule, but for Ebates & Mr. Rebates, you can only use promo codes listed on their website. Otherwise, if you use other promo codes, it will negate your cash back (it’s in their rules). I lucked out because Mr. Rebates sent me an email that I could get 10% off Saks with code AND 12% cash back, so I jumped on it, and ordered a bunch of stuff. Then, I created a Saks account and got another code for 10% off, and I was getting really excited, but since the code isn’t listed on the Mr. Rebates site, I can’t “stack it” with the 12% rebate, but oh well, 12% off is still pretty darn good. I’m keeping a wish list of items, hoping Mr. Rebates sends me another one of those emails…..
Thanks for telling me Katherine! Sounds like I need to find these rules and read them! That’s a good idea. I always have a running list, lol!
The 1st one is better as a topper, the 2nd one is pretty. In the 2nd pic, I love your eye look –you’re tempting me to buy Pure Bred!
Thank you, Katherine! 😉 It’s a pretty combo, but I bet you have dupes!
As much as I lurrrve the name and color of Dressed To The K9’s, I’m definitely getting it’s dupe that I have loved ever since I first saw it: UD Vice!
The other one, Lap Dog, is just too light for my skintone and with only 2 hr. wear-time, a big “nah”.
Yay for Vice 😀
Dressed to the K9s is really pretty on you. I like the color, but it definitely would need some help from liner and/or lipstick.
Thank you, Rachel!
Just wanted to let you know the links to get dupes of both colors are not working. It just goes to a random swatch page. I’m not sure if it matters that I’m using my phone.
Fixed!
I like how the first one looks on you, but I have more liplines, so I’ll pass on it. I generally have a problem with darker glosses, as I eat so much of the glosses I put on, and whrn they are darker, it’s so visable 🙂
I’m also one of the lip-presses, I try to stop, but it’s hard.
Thanks, Helene! Those pesky milky glosses!
Not feeling either of them, but i do love the name they picked for the last shade, haha, very witty 🙂
Haha!
I like the shade of Dressed to the K9’s but it’s just get the Vice dupe!
Phew!
