MAC Imaginary Pro Longwear Paint Pot ($22.00 for 0.17 oz.) is described as a “deep blue plum shimmer.” It’s a deepened, muted, navy blue with fine navy blue and violet pearl. It had semi-opaque color payoff with a lightly creamy consistency, but it is really dense in the pot. The denser texture made it less blendable on the skin; it was better as a defined area rather than used as a cream eyeshadow (so I preferred it as an eyeliner). The color lasted for twelve hours on me before starting fade (the formula has a stated wear time of 15 hours per MAC’s site). Cle de Peau Serenity (Left) (PiP, ) is lighter (95% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Night Sky (Cream) (LE, $45.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). MAC Shop & Drop (LE, $17.00) is darker (90% similar). Sephora So Demure (LE, ) is lighter, more muted (90% similar). MAC Panda Riot (LE, $17.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Urban Decay Heroine (LE, $19.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Urban Decay Goddess (LE, $19.00) is more shimmery, lighter, warmer (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Starry Night #4 (PiP, ) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Pat McGrath Underworld (PiP, $25.00) is more shimmery, darker, warmer (90% similar). Giorgio Armani Minuit (02) (DC, $39.00) is brighter (90% similar). NARS Ubangi (P, $25.00) is more shimmery, darker, glossier (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Daydream #3 (PiP, ) is more shimmery, more muted, warmer (90% similar). Givenchy Bleu Soie (4) (P, $23.00) is brighter (90% similar). Too Faced De La Mer (PiP, $16.00) is darker (90% similar). Bobbi Brown Blue Onyx (LE, ) is more shimmery (95% similar). Wet 'n' Wild Mythicool Creatures #3 (LE, ) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (85% similar). NARS Long Game (DC, $25.00) is more shimmery, darker (85% similar). Chanel Urban (LE, $36.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). Dior Black Night #4 (LE, ) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (80% similar). bareMinerals Shaken Not Stirred (P, ) is darker (90% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

MAC Nice Composure Pro Longwear Paint Pot ($22.00 for 0.17 oz.) is described as a “mid-tone cool grey.” It’s a muted, medium-dark gray with cool, almost purple-like tones, and a satin finish. It had nice color payoff with a creamy enough formula that it applied well and still retained some blendability if you wanted to use it as a base or cream eyeshadow. The texture is still denser than your average cream eyeshadow, so you’ll want to work one eye at a time to maximize the time you have to blend out any edges. This shade lasted for twelve hours on me before fading. Viseart Cool Matte #11 (PiP, ) is lighter (90% similar). Urban Decay Slanted (PiP, $19.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Smashbox Granite (PiP, ) is more shimmery, lighter, warmer (85% similar). MAC Text Me Later (LE, ) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). Rouge Bunny Rouge Trumpeter Koel (P, $19.00) is warmer (85% similar). MAC Silver Gull (LE, $17.00) is lighter (85% similar). Maybelline Tough as Taupe (P, $6.99) is warmer (80% similar). Chanel Noir Supreme #2 (PiP, ) is less shimmery, darker (80% similar). MAC Rose Blend #2 (LE, ) is darker, warmer (80% similar). MAC Fabulous Fit (LE, $17.00) is warmer (90% similar). I know this may see like a ridiculous question, but what are these supposed to be used for? Or, is it just a do whatever works thing? The only paint pot I own is painterly and that’s just because everybody has it and it’s a base.

I have the paint pot in Soft Ochre, and it’s my perfect color for camouflaging dark circles and brightening the eye, but sadly, it creases on my oily lids, so I haven’t bought another one. But I like the violet shimmers in Imaginary.

I’m obsessed with Grey shades in any form these days … from makeup to dresses
liner , shadow , top , pants and what not ….
MAC NICE COMPOSURE is looking like a great addition in my grey collection 😀

I can definitely see Imaginary being great as an eyeliner vs a shadow or base. Very pretty shade! I wish my Waveline Fluidline worked as nicely, it takes 2-3 coats, which is a major pain in the butt even though it’s a really nice, brightening shade.

I’ve got a MAC question. Do ‘regular’ dept. stores only have product in compacts? I was able to snag 3/4 of the things I was looking for: Tailor Gray paint pot + Make You Mine blush, but I see depotting ahead for the blush + powder shadow I got. Do you have to go to a pro store for pan-only, or scope it on-counter, then order it online? Tomorrow I’m putting tiny dog stickers on Nose For Style. All the SAs agreed they’d be all over the collection, if it was dog-themed packaging. Mac blew that one. I think I’m in for the gray, and probably Stormy Pink.

Wwendy: I’m brand new to paint pots & much older than you, so what’s the aging thing?
