MAC Cybernaut Mineralize Rich Lipstick
%252Fc%252Fmac-cosmetics%253Forigin%253Dbrandindex”>MAC Mineralize Rich Lipstick ($23.00 for 0.12 oz.) is supposed to be a “lightweight” formula that “nourishes lips with maximum moisture” with “long-lasting colour” that is “buildable” with a “medium-shine finish.” The formula has MAC’s signature vanilla scent but no discernible taste. The majority of the shades I’ve tested in this formula have semi-opaque to opaque coverage, last three to six hours, are hydrating, and feel comfortable to wear. Some shades will leave visible “lines” if you press your lips together, but it varies from shade to shade. All five shades are from the Future MAC Collection, which launches online on March 31st. Touch the Earth is a repromote.
MAC Cybernaut Mineralize Rich Lipstick ($23.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “neutral pink.” It’s a light-medium pink with neutral-to-warm undertones and a soft shine. It had mostly opaque coverage with a lightweight, lightly emollient texture that applied without tugging. The texture of this one had just enough slip and density that it seemed to gather and sit in lip lines. I would recommend a lip primer, filler, or liner with this one to minimize that effect. The color lasted for three and a half hours and was moisturizing over time. Givenchy Rose Ruban (211) (P, $36.00) is warmer, glossier (90% similar). YSL Nude Beige (1) (P, $34.00) is darker (85% similar). Guerlain Rosy Silk (LE, $37.00) is more shimmery, warmer (80% similar). NYX French Kiss (P, $6.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). Bobbi Brown Pale Mauve (DC, $37.00) is darker (80% similar). MAC Myself (LE, $19.00) is darker (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
MAC Ionized Mineralize Rich Lipstick ($23.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “metallic silver.” It’s a muted, medium gray-ish taupe with cool undertones and a luminous sheen. It had semi-opaque color coverage with a lightweight, comfortable texture that had moderate slip. The lipstick applied evenly, but the color emphasized and pulled into lip lines. The color lasted for three hours on me, but it was lightly hydrating. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Disintegration (DC, $17.00) is lighter, less glossy (90% similar). ColourPop Marshmallow (P, $7.00) is darker, less glossy (80% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Stavros (DC, $36.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Sebastian (DC, $18.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
MAC Meta-Fabulous Mineralize Rich Lipstick ($23.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “soft peach.” It’s a light-medium, golden peach with warm, yellowy tones and a soft shine. It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque, buildable coverage with a lightweight, moderately slippery consistency that was comfortable to wear and apply, but it applied unevenly and sat in lip lines. This shade lasted for three and a half hours, but it was, at least, hydrating. Tom Ford Beauty Carine (LE, $36.00) is more shimmery, less pigmented (90% similar). Givenchy Beige Deshabille (108) (P, $36.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC How Tropical (LE, $19.00) is darker (85% similar). Bobbi Brown Mod (DC, $37.00) is darker (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
MAC Super Nova Mineralize Rich Lipstick ($23.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “cool off-white.” It’s a very light beige with a hint of warmer, peach tones and a natural shine. It had semi-opaque color coverage paired with a comfortable, lightweight texture that had some slip but didn’t slide too much. Despite being so light, it actually applied better than other shades in this launch! It wore for three and a half hours and was hydrating. MAC Beauty (LE, $19.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). MAC Innocence Beware (LE, $19.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Strange Magic (102) (DC, $30.00) is warmer (85% similar). MAC Flair for Finery (LE, $19.00) is darker (85% similar). MAC 2N (LE, $19.00) is darker (85% similar). MAC Crème d'Nude (LE, $19.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). MAC Japanese Maple (LE, $19.00) is darker, more muted, warmer (80% similar). Givenchy Rose Ruban (211) (P, $36.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). MAC I've Been Naughty (LE, $22.00) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
MAC Touch the Earth Mineralize Rich Lipstick ($23.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “mid-tone taupe.” It’s a muted, medium-dark taupe brown with warm undertones and a soft shine. It had good color payoff with a lightweight, creamy texture that applied fairly evnely and was comfortable to wear. This shade lasted for three and a half hours on me and was moisturizing. Maybelline Truffle Tease (930) (P, $7.49) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). ColourPop Polliwog (LE, $7.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). MAC Shitaki (LE, $19.00) is darker (85% similar). Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Soy Latte (DC, $17.00) is darker (80% similar). NYX Flawless (P, $6.00) is lighter, cooler (80% similar). MAC Styled in Sepia (LE, $19.00) is darker (80% similar). I was so hoping Ionized would be better. Though the grades on these are actually better than I anticipated. Do you think they’d be good toppers? Are they pearly enough?
I don’t think it would apply well over another lipstick, personally!
Thanks, Christine. I had a feeling that would be the answer. Still, I keep going back and forth with it. I’ve been into gray lipsticks so much lately, and I kind of like that Ionized is a weird bird.
I’m not feeling any of these. Going to pass I think unless I see a super cool combo with a liner. I like Ionized. But, it’s one of those that would probably sit in my drawer. Plus, it needs a liner. I wonder if the marshmallow liner would work?! It’s a maybe for summer fun! 🙂
I bet Marshmallow liner would work 🙂
From the first looks I thought I’d want Ionized…now not so much.
Awww! 🙁
Well I have a bunch of the dupes, and not so keen on $23 for a lippie that only lasts 3 hours. I was so hoping too because I’m into the gray/grayed purple lip look and I don’t have one that’s shimmery.
I don’t think any of these colors is wearable for me.
Bummer! Maybe next collection 🙂
No surprise, Ionized is my kinda thang. I love weird grey/purple/taupe shades of lipstick and I don’t even mind this one runs sheerer. I may have to pick this one up.
Haha! It is mine, too. There’s something about grays that call to me. I think the sheerness works for it – there’s something about it that says “more wearable” to me than some grays.
Hmm, I think they should re-name this the Zombie Lips Collection! Not my colors, although I have to give MAC kudos for the unique colors here, not one MAC red lippie in this entire lineup. I kind of like Ionized, just because it’s so different looking
I thought the colors ended up being pretty neat! Different, at least, which is nice.
I kind of like Ionized, but I don’t think I could pull it off. Except maybe for a zombie apocalypse themed party, lol! Shades lighter than my naturally pigmented lips always wash me out, so I can’t imagine wearing a lipstick with a gray tint on top of that. But I like the more unique shade, or at least the idea of it!
I feel like Ionized would look SO good with a really dark smoky eye!
So this is crazy, I tell you, but I really LOVE Ionized and Touch The Earth!!! Although I have a feeling they will most likely look thoroughly HORRID on my NC37-40 complexion! But I can’t help it, I love those 2 shades!
Ionized is coool!
These new shades look interesting, to say the list! I like Cybernaut by the look of it. I think it looks more natural. But on the other hand, Ionized could be used for an unexpected and different look! Very useful post, thanks!
They are different than the usual spring/summer shades 🙂
I like them all, especially because they appear sheer but not glossy.
I have to check them out at a counter though because my natural lip color is a bit darker than yours Christine. But they all look so pretty on you! And wow, do I really not pay attention to prices? $23 each? Are these more expensive or did I miss the memo on a price increase? I know I buy MAC with abandon, but hey… Don’t gouge me there MAC!
The Mineralize Rich lipsticks are more expensive than their standard formula, even when they initially launched!
The Star Trek is strong with these. 😀 I refuse to buy from MAC, but I admit, these lippies are kind of tempting! Very cool.
Hopefully you can dupe ’em 🙂
I still want Ionized, even though it has problems — it’s just a cool color! I love Stavros, but it’s darker. Sebastian is hard for me to wear (love the pencil, though). Marshmallow is on its way, but it looks much more opaque. Super Nova and Touch the Earth are calling my name, too, even though they’re warmer and much lighter than what I usually wear.
It is a cool one, Fran! I like it, even if it’s not perfect 🙂
I might just have to buy Ionized, I really like the look of it, and I do have a soft side when it comes to the “strange” lipcolours.
Strange is good, by the way 🙂
It is fun! I liked it. I’m glad they came out with another gray-ish shade!
These are too pale for me, but they look good on you. Just as well they’re not for me, I am trying to have a no or low buy for now!
Thanks, Claire!
Unfortunately not super impressed by any of these new releases, but hey more money in my wallet!
On a side note, I got to ask, I always notice in some of your photos your earrings are swinging!
For example in that photo of you wearing Cybernaut. Why is that?
No hate, I love the touch it adds to your photos, I’ve just always wondered!
It’s just because I sit down, snap a photo, and get right back up, so I don’t sit still long enough for the earrings to really come to rest.
I LOVE your earrings! They’re so pretty!
I like Cybernaut, it’s so pretty. Do you think this can be a dupe for mac royal ball lipstick (my all time fav from the Cinderella collection)?
Royal Ball is a bit lighter and has a lot more noticeable shimmer, but they are kind of close! 🙂
I don’t care much for the shades, but they sure picked cool names for these!
They did!
I really want Super Nova! I think it would work on me! Looking forward to when this comes out :3
Yay! So glad there’s one that might work for you!
I’m just kind of “meh” on these. They’re so sheer I don’t really see myself getting any of them.
Totally understand, Kelly!
Cybernaut looks like LE Mac Classical (that ive been waiting for them to rerelease for years!?!?) thoughts on their similarity? it’s my HG color 🙂
I don’t think I have that, sorry!
I’m actually loving 4 out of 5 of these! Meta-Fabulous is an easy skip, but the others are very appealing to me, especially Ionized and Touch the Earth. They are pastels with an edge, which is nice. But, what’s really impressive, is that none look chalky or horribly textured. Your lips look really healthy and these unique colors are very flattering.
Thanks, Christine!
Happy to help, Eliz! 🙂
I would love Ionized in contour powder form lol. It would be perfect for me!
If only!
I think Meta-Fabulous is my fave! I love them all though, surprisingly!
Ooh, nice!
None of these are for me though I do kind of like Supernova.
Money saved 🙂
Ionized is a very cool shade!
It is! You don’t see gray too often in mainstream brands, even MAC!
