MAC Divine Divine Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick

MAC Divine Divine Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as a “light creamy pink.” It’s a brighter, light-medium pink with cooler undertones and a matte finish. It applied really evenly, especially for a lighter shade like this. Unfortunately, there was some “cracking” after it dried down and I smiled. The color wore well for six hours, and it did have a tendency to fade from the center a little more than the rest. It was moderately drying. MAC Steady Going (P, $19.00) is darker, cooler (95% similar). MAC Silly (LE, $19.00) is darker, glossier (90% similar). Maybelline Pink Sugar (P, $7.99) is darker, warmer, glossier (90% similar). Urban Decay Halo (P, $22.00) is more muted, cooler (90% similar). Maybelline Ravishing Rose (P, $7.99) is darker, glossier (85% similar). MAC Happy Song (LE, $19.00) is darker, more muted, cooler (85% similar). MAC Feeling Fizzy (LE, $19.00) is darker, glossier (90% similar). MAC Wagasa Twirl (LE, $19.00) is darker, cooler (85% similar). Urban Decay Brat (P, $18.00) is darker (85% similar). Smashbox Just Hit Play (P, $21.00) is warmer (85% similar). KVD Beauty Melancholia (P, $20.00) is more muted, warmer (90% similar). MAC Pandemonium (LE, $19.00) is darker, more muted (80% similar). NYX Audrey (P, $6.00) is darker, glossier (80% similar). Bite Beauty Lotus (P, $24.00) is darker, more muted, glossier (80% similar). NYX Pale Pink (P, $6.00) is darker, glossier (80% similar). Rare Beauty Energize (P, $20.00) is darker (80% similar). Tarte Fomo (P, $20.00) is darker, more muted (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

MAC Personal Statement Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as a “shocking pink.” It’s a neon, fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque color coverage with a really smooth, flat matte dry down. It dried fairly quickly compared to other medium-to-dark shades in the range. There were a few streaks that didn’t seem to disappear once dry. It wore for eight hours but was quite drying after four and a half hours of wear. MAC Tailored to Tease (P, $21.00) is darker (90% similar). Bite Beauty #092 (P, $18.00) is cooler, glossier (90% similar). Make Up For Ever M201 (DC, $22.00) is more muted, glossier (90% similar). Urban Decay Crush (DC, $18.00) is darker, glossier (90% similar). KVD Beauty Backstage Bambi (P, $19.00) is cooler (90% similar). Tarte Adorbs (P, $20.00) is darker, glossier (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Pop-arazzi (606) (P, $28.00) is lighter, glossier (90% similar). KVD Beauty Backstage Bambi (DC, $21.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). NARS Michiyo (P, $34.00) is darker, glossier (90% similar). KVD Beauty Crush (LE, $21.00) is darker, more muted, glossier (85% similar). MAC Embrace Me (LE, $19.00) is cooler, glossier (85% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Violet Fatale (P, $54.00) is darker (85% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Electric Pink (15) (P, $55.00) is darker, glossier (85% similar). Makeup Geek Cha Cha (LE, $12.00) is darker, more muted (85% similar). MAC Pink Pigeon (P, $19.00) is glossier (85% similar). MAC Pop Babe (LE, $18.50) is lighter, cooler (85% similar). MAC Aim for Gorgeous (LE, $19.00) is darker, more muted (90% similar). ColourPop Highball (LE, $6.50) is darker (90% similar). Makeup Geek Bunny Hop (LE, $12.00) is darker, more muted (85% similar). FORMULA OVERVIEW | MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is pigmented, liquid lipstick formula that dries down to a flat, matte finish that is mostly transfer-proof. They have a runnier mousse-like consistency; it is not quite mousse-like in thickness, but it is not as runny as some liquid lipstick formulas–somewhere in-between there. The formula of these is thicker than their Pro Longwear Lustre Lipcolours (which is like the OG of matte liquid lipstick to me). The lighter shades are the least forgiving and most of them “crack” as soon as they dry down and I move my lips or smile. They don’t flake off in chunks, and most of them fade relatively evenly. I get slight transfer on occasion when drinking anything more than water (e.g. latte), and while a lot of the color will make it through a meal, it will vary depending on the oil-content of your meal. They do respond well to layering or touch-ups after there is an initial layer done. They dry down within thirty seconds to two minutes (darker shades took longer to dry), and I was able to manipulate the color as it was drying down without lifting the color entirely. Some shades appeared streaky during initial application, but once it dried down, most of the streaks disappeared (kind of like nail polish can self-level). I found the formula moderately drying after three to six hours of wear, and it is one of the more drying formulas I’ve tried, personally. They are vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste.

For Divine Divine, I would most likely get either the Maybelline Pink Sugar dupe due to the fact that I don’t wear lighter pinks hardly ever, or just stick to my tube of Milani Color Statement in Fruit Punch.
And I don’t even need to buy a dupe dupe for Personal Statement as I do have Pink Pigeon already. Of which I haven’t worn since April or May!
Idk, maybe it’s just me, but these MAC liquid mattes are not bowling me over. Not yet, anyway.

Hey, I have divine divine and I’m rubbish at applying it myself! The Mac lady applied it with edge to edge lip liner which I chose not to buy due to the cost. I was just wondering if you applied the lipstick with a liner first??
