It’s a richly pigmented lipstick with a lightly creamy consistency that glided on without tugging but didn’t feel clingy on either. It’s a shade that didn’t seem to apply as crisply as other shades directly from the tube, so you may want to use a lip brush or a lip liner to get cleaner edges. What I liked was how it applied evenly and didn’t look streaky, as some deeper shades can, and the color wore well for six hours strong without being drying (not hydrating, to be clear). This shade is from the limited edition MACnificent Me Collection.

I love this! I have already pre-saled this one. I will surely be using a liner with this. I’m glad you got to review it before Thur.!

Hey, on your post for Mariah Carey & Mac, the comment box is closed, but I’m curious about that champagne shimmer lipstick – might make a nice topper

That’s a funny question, because I actually wear Anita like you do! It’s such a bold dark shade that I try to keep the rest of my makeup simple. In winter, I’m pale, so I warm up my face with Wet N Wild Reserve Your Cabana (so I don’t look goulish), do bold brows (to balance the strong lip) and keep my eye makeup pretty simple (a little liner, mascara, maybe a soft wash of bronze shadow), then finish with dusting of a soft gold face highlighter (so I don’t look too matte). It’s still warm and sunny here, but I can’t wait to bust out Anita 🙂

Perfection!!! I have to get this as my vampy deep red, as it seems like it would work wonderfully with my warm medium olive complexion! And I think a bit better than smoky purple lippys like CP Nevermind or MAC Smoked Purple do for me.

Oh geeze- I don’t know! It’s a shade that’s not in my comfort zone- but it looks awesome on you Christine! And I buy every black, dark purple or funky shade they wanna sell me. Oh heck, for the price I think I’m gonna go for it…Thanks for the review!

I’m happy to see a smooth vampy lipstick that isn’t blue based like many “wine” or “burgundy” colors tend to be! I may have to see this in person 🙂

Is Deep Love worth getting if I already own Antique Velvet? I can’t tell the difference from the swatches but I’ve heard the undertone is more visible IRL so I’m not sure.

They’re really, really close. Unless you’re super cool-toned, I don’t know that you could really tell the difference.

Try Jordana Terra Kiss (a bit lighter but should work well) or Coco Loco (choc brown but will definitely work)…and lastly Cabernet…although Cabernet leans towards purple rather than red brown. I don’t have any of my NYX liner with me so I couldn’t check those (I literally just swatched all those liners next to the lipstick…it’s too bad I can’t insert pics in this comment :))
