MAC Barococoa Strobe Face Glaze Review & Swatches
Barococoa
MAC Barocococa Strobe Face Glaze ($28.00 for 0.5 oz.) has a translucent base with fine, copper and bronze pearl throughout a high-shine, glossy base. The formula is supposed to give the “dewiest, flushed glow” what is “translucent” and “oil-slicked” in look.
It’s best thought of as a tinted, glossy balm for the face with a hint of pearl and a lot of shine/glossiness–just as marketed. As you might expect, it does attract flyaway hairs readily, and the slightly thicker, a little tacky consistency does trap them. It’s a higher-maintenance product, though I know some will love that high-gloss finish, but it may be a better fit for someone looking for a more avant garde effect and not something they’d incorporate into everyday wear for all-day excursions.
The product applied best over bare skin but was workable over foundation, though I’d recommend something with sheerer coverage and a more luminous base. I’d also skip the powder wherever you want to have this on the skin. It lasted for five hours before moving/sliding noticeably on my face.

I was super curious about this product and glad you reviewed it! I was wondering if it dried down, now I see it’s a sticky situation. That wet shiny look is pretty but I hate when my hair gets stuck on my face or lips. Not a fan of sticky goopy products on my face. So pass for me.
The positive: it looks truly beautiful, and would work really well with my skintone. Wonder how it works mixed with foundation… 🤔
The bad: I have so many issues with my flyaway edges, that I know that I had better have my hair up with a heavy duty hair gel holding those up and back!
What will the makeup industry think of next? It seems like a real gimmicky product to me.
This is the kind of product that looks so good in photos, but on me it’d enhance pores and imperfections for about half an hour and then I’d get mistaken for a yeti with all my hair stuck on my cheeks 😀
It is fun that they do make products like this though, for all who can wear them.
