MAC Azalea in the Afternoon & Petal Power Mineralize Blushes Reviews, Photos, Swatches
MAC Azalea in the Afternoon Mineralize Blush
MAC Azalea in the Afternoon Mineralize Blush ($25.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “mid-tone cool pink.” It’s a light-medium pink with very subtle, cool undertones and a high, frosted finish. It had mostly opaque color coverage, which could be applied lightly and then built up in its intensity or blended out. The texture was mostly smooth with the typical dryness of Mineralize products, and it was somewhat powdery and prone to fading–it was noticeably faded after six hours of wear. MAC Stunner (LE, $21.00) is darker. MAC Porcelain Pink (LE, $30.00) is lighter, warmer. MAC Blonde (LE, $30.00) is lighter, warmer. Chanel Pink Cloud (LE, $43.00) is less frosted, more muted. See comparison swatches.
Petal Power Mineralize Blush ($25.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “coral pink with gold shimmer.” It’s a brightened, medium coral with warm, orange undertones and a golden, frosted finish and sheen. It had a fair amount of sheen, and it did slightly emphasize pores when I wore it. The color payoff was great, though, and the texture, though a little powdery, was easy to blend out on the skin. This blush lasted for six and a half hours on me. NARS Soulshine (Together) (LE, $29.00) is darker. Physicians Formula Warm (P, $11.99) is slightly pinker. MAC Fleet Fast (LE, $21.00) is darker. NARS Orgasm is pinker, slightly darker. See comparison swatches.

Both of these are beautiful but I think I’ll pass (I have more than enough blush so if I add, it’s got to be something I’m crazy about). I’ll probably check out Azalea in the Afternoon just for the heck of it when I’m next at the MAC counter though. I just SOOO want them to re-promote Subtle Breeze. If that were available, I’d be waiting for the store to open first thing in the morning to get my mitts on it!
Aww! Are you almost through your Subtle Breeze or did you miss out on it?
No, I bought Early Morning instead, thinking it wasn’t quite as peach as it is. Thing is, I absolutely LOVE the finish – it has this beautiful sheen that looks like my own skin is glowing and I would guess that Subtle Breeze is the same. I could kick myself for not getting it – they had it at the counter and I was like “No – one blush from this collection is plenty”. Yeah, one blush would have been plenty if I’d chosen the right blush! GRRRR. So much for “move out of your comfort zone”.
Awwww! 🙁
Mac collections don’t excite me that much nowdays but these blushes look very interesting more so because I would love a Stuner dupe, mine is halfway through and I love it!
Stunner was a nice shade!
Petal power looks pretty… But man I have too many blushes right now…
And it’s a blush that has a lot of similar shades!
what?? too many blushes, i dont know what that means??! haha.
Thank you so much for the review Christine! All day yesterday I kept adding petal power to my cart then removing it. I couldn’t find a review or swatches of it anywhere, especially since you hadn’t reviewed it yet. I finally decide to skip it after reading your review I’m so happy I didn’t get it, especially since I already own pf warm! Thanks again.
My pleasure, Abby! 🙂 Wish I could have reviewed for you sooner, but I just got these yesterday!
I hate that all the prettiest colours come out in limited edition collections, which really are VERY limited. They run out so quickly and, as someone who doesn’t live in a place where MAC is available, I can only dream of picking up a limited edition product. This is why MAC just annoys me. -.-
I like the look of Petal Power. I love blushes with a natural sheen so I don’t have to use a highlighter separately.
Speaking of, can you do a top 5 or 10 pick of peach powdered blushes?
I have! Here you go – http://www.temptalia.com/5-pretty-in-peach-blushes
I don’t think anything has sold out from this collection, actually.
I hope they stay till the end of March then. I really want to try them out, they look so pretty.
Azalea in the Afternoon is sold out on the Canadian site. Figures that’s the one I was interested in. I have Springsheen and Nars Orgasm so I’m good for corals.
Will be getting both, they look so lovely =)
Enjoy, Deniz!
Wow! They both look good, especially the petal power one! I think I’ll risk the grade and go for it!
A lot of it comes from poorer wear, so if that’s not an issue or Mineralize blushes usually wear better on you, sounds like a plan 🙂
I think Petal Power is a dupe for Springsheen!:)
They’re definitely similar!
I like how Petal Power looks on you Christine! Is it similar to NARS Orgasm?
Hi Chelsea,
Here you can compare them – http://www.temptalia.com/swatch-gallery?sg=155918,111349,94462,94136
I felt like NARS Orgasm was pinker swatched and applied, so it didn’t turn out as warm/orange! Also seems a bit darker.
I love petal power!
Yay!
I think both colors looks absolutely stunning on you, Christine. They definitely *look* like A’s 🙂
Thank you!
How do you think Petal Power compares to NARS Orgasm? Or if you have it, Sleek’s Rose Gold blush? Looks like they could be similar! Thanks for the lovely reviews as always! 🙂
Hi Chelsea,
Here you can compare them – http://www.temptalia.com/swatch-gallery?sg=155918,111349,94462,94136
I felt like NARS Orgasm was pinker swatched and applied, so it didn’t turn out as warm/orange! Also seems a bit darker.
Petal power looks a lot like mac springsheen blush, which is not ever mentioned by us, but is so beautiful and in my opinion, much better than Nars orgasm.
They’re definitely similar, but I think Springsheen is lighter!
They both look lovely but petal power looks amaziiiiiiiiiiiiing!
I have Nars Orgasm but I’m thinking I *need* petal power! Thanks for the swatches.. will you be showcasing any of the lippies from this collection?
Yes!
I like both colours, they seem a bit too sparkly for my liking but I have to check them out in person. I am rediscovering MAC lately, so lots of products I have to take a closer look at, haha
How fun to rediscover the brand!
Petal Power is pretty to me. I like MAC’s mineralized blushes.
It is a nice shade!
Both are cuuuuute, but I feel like I’ve seen coral with gold shimmer about one million times. I mean, it looks great on pretty much everyone, but still.
It is true – there are a lot of corals like this!
Petal Power is so pretty!! I have a few of the dupes so I know I can pass but it’s so tempting lol
You can pass!!
Pretty! Petal Power reminds me of milani’s coralina 🙂
Thanks for sharing a possible dupe, J!
Petal Power reminds me of Springsheen. 🙂
I can see the similarities!
When will it hit the UK stores please? 🙂 I love them both very much!
And you should check out Sleek cosmetics > sleekmakeup.com They have amazing blushers *Rose Gold8 is a best seller and a dupe for Nars Orgasm.
MAC just gave “March” as the international date!
Your skin looks RADIANT! That is all.
Thanks, Cat! 🙂
Both look lovely on you christine! esp the finish. But these fade on me way too quickly!
Same! They just don’t last!
Ordered them both. I love Petal Power! Azalea in the Afternoon is nice, but maybe a bit light and too frosty. I’m pretty sure I can make it work, though.
Can’t wait for you to receive!
Both of these are beautiful, but I really can’t say they are that unique. And I’m not a huge fan of the mineralized blushes.
Very true – they’re definitely not super unique shades.
Woah…Petal Power! In love with that!!
It’s a nice spring shade!
Hi Christine, thanks for the post. How do you think Azalea blush compares with MAC’s mineralize blush in Dainty? Would Azalea considered to be more cool toned than Dainty?
I think Dainty is lighter and cooler-toned!
Love your earrings!!!
Thanks, Jenny!
I have to get Petal Power, that’s just beautiful. It’s not too similar to MAC Springsheen is it?
It’s similar enough where you don’t need both, I’d say. Springsheen I think is lighter and pinker.
you look so naturally pretty in this look !!!
Thank you, Aris! 🙂
Aww, Petal Power looks stunning on you!! That’s exactly how I always want my blushes to look – fresh and pretty (whether or not I achieve that is another story! ;-))
Thank you so much! 🙂
Both blushes and mineral skinfinishes will be mine. i ordered dreaming dahlia, fluer Dcoral and rose lily already so excited!!!!!
Yayy!!
Could be Azalea in the Afternoon a dupe for Armani Eccentrico palette or is it on my screen only?
Eccentrico is a bit darker, not as pastel/light!
Hi Christine,
I was wondering what brush you used to apply these? You look simply flawless!
Thanks!
MAC 131, I think!
Hello Christine! Do you own Sleek Rose Gold? If you do, how does it compare to Petal Power?
I don’t think I do! It’s possible I bought it at some point, and it is tucked away “to review” (someday), but I haven’t actually played with it. I’m not even confident that I bought it, lol!
Oh! Hahahaha! Well. If you ever get around to reviewing it. I can’t wait to see your thoughts on it. I own Rose Gold and I love it! I just caved and ordered Petal Power. I’m a sucker for peachy/pink shades with a gold sheen. Anything to highlight my extremely dry skin, is always welcome! And even if they are similar to each other, I still have two blushes I’ll be using a lot in the Spring and Summer months. 🙂
Love both shades on you, Christine! I am so tempted but I already know I’m not head over heels with Mineralize blushes, bummer How would you compare Petal Power to Style?
I don’t think I have Style, but from what I can remember, Style would be a bit brighter and more orange.
Thanks Christine!
How does petal power compare to springsheen?
I think Springsheen is pinker, not quite as warm!
What’s the name of the lipstick you’re wearing? It looks so pretty on you!
Here are all the details!
THE MAKEUP LOOK
On face: Guerlain Parure de Lumiere Foundation, Kevyn Aucoin The Celestial Liquid Highlighter (mixed with foundation), Urban Decay Naked Loose Finishing Powder. On lips: MAC Pagoda Cremesheen Glass.
Hi Christine!
I was wondering if you have ever tried Anna sui rose blushes? What do you think of them? If you’ve tried them, can you recommend one for a NW20 from Mac?
I haven’t, unfortunately!
I just bought Petal Power from Nordstrom today! I LOVED it. I had to get it when I saw it on my cheeks! I have Nars Orgasm blush and illuminator, but it didn’t remind me of it, personally. I also got my foundation corrected! I have no idea how someone there labeled me an NC42 when NC44 is more my shade. Nevertheless, it’s fixed now and Petal Power looks great against my NC44 skin!! 😀
Yay!! I thought it was a little different from Orgasm – I think it’s just more intense/warmer in general.
I bought Petal Power the day it came out but I’m seriously considering returning it. Both of these blushes are crazily frosty. Petal Power could’ve been a gorgeous shade, if it wasn’t so heavily iridescent and gold. It’s actually got quite an intense metallic sheen to it, not great for people with enlarged pores & scarring. Not at all what I was expecting after seeing swatches here. My skin is decent enough to wear it but I’m not overly impressed with any of the products in this collection. The MSFs are even more disappointing. Stereo Rose is especially disappointing.
Yet another MAC letdown 🙁
Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience, Sandra! 🙁
I took my theBalm hot mama blush with me to Macy’s to see the similarities with Petal power. Petal power has more pinky tones while the Hot mama is more red. I am sooooo torn on if I will kick myself later if I dont buy it…:(
Awww! 🙁 I don’t know how to help. I can convince you either way, lol!
I am a semi-new visitor and I just want to tell you that I LOVE your page!! It’s amazing and my first go-to before I purchase a product. But I have one question.. How do you store your makeup and do you make good use of everything or do the products “lay around” after the swatches/reviews?
Much love from Sweden/Norway. <3 x
Thank you SO much, Nathalie! I’m so glad you found us 🙂
This is my full-time job, so I’m not a regular customer any more; my focus isn’t on using products over and over again, so I don’t go back and use things I’ve tested again and again as a result!
