MAC Augmented Reality & #Shockwave Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Augmented Reality
MAC Augmented Reality Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark orange-red with warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had rich, opaque pigmentation that applied smoothly across the lips. The texture was velvety and smooth, so it did not tug on the lips but still yielded even coverage that adhered well to the lips. It lasted for over eight hours and was lightly drying toward the end of wear.
The shade is part of the upcoming MAC Chromat collection, which launches on June 29th at select MAC locations and online.

MAC Lipstick comes in a variety of finishes, and the pigmentation and wear tend to be dependent on the finish. The sheer finishes, like Lustres, tend to wear for only a couple of hours and have sheer coverage (as designed) and are non-drying.
Some of the original Matte shades have a stiffer, drier formula, while newer ones have a more velvety, silicone-feel to them, and the latter are creamier, more comfortable to wear, and easier to apply, but most Matte shades are quite pigmented and long-wearing, though some are drying.
The Amplified and Satin finishes tend to have good pigmentation, lightly creamy to moderately creamy consistencies with a bit of shine, and moderate to long wear with deeper, richer shades wearing longer. The Frost and Metallic finishes have the most variance between shades with coverage ranging from semi-sheer to opaque with average wear and non-drying to slightly drying formulas. All MAC lipsticks are vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste.

Shockvalue
MAC Shockvalue Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a bright, medium blue with subtle, cool undertones and a cream finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied without streaking, but there was a lot of visible color in my lip lines. The texture was lightweight with moderate slip, which might have been why there was noticeable settling. It lasted for five hours, left a subtle stain behind, and was neither drying nor hydrating.
The shade is part of the upcoming MAC Chromat collection, which launches on June 29th at select MAC locations and online.

Augmented Reality is nice, but nothing new. It’s good that Shockwave rated pretty well, although the settling into lip lines isn’t something I want.
Of course there’s a new MAC collection releasing tomorrow – LOL! Both of these are outside my comfort zone so I can easily pass. Although I have to say, I wish I had the nerve to wear the blue. I suspect maybe there’s more releasing so…uh oh…. Thanks for your review!
It’s that time again 😉
No problem, Michele!
It’s almost always that time. Again.
I’m loving these brights, but I have dupes for both.
When I saw Shockvalue, I got visions of Smurfs dancing in my head !
I love both?! They both look pretty creamy, and nice!!!!!
I kind of wanted Shockvalue but I already own NYX Blue velvet and MUFE C602 to alleviate my blue lipstick craving. lol
Also, Sephora’s 30 Sea Mist is another option n liquid lipstick. 😉
Augmented Reality got 8 hours of wear? Seriously? Now THAT is one major kick-butt orange-red, plus it looks perfect for our hot weather!
I’m leaving Shockwave alone. It looks great on you, but not my kind of blue, though.
I actually have a bunch of dupes for the blue – all these plus others from indie brands! Doesn’t stop me from wanting it though, I love wearing blue lipstick!
Augmented Reality – love!
Augmented Reality is pretty!
