MAC Apres Chic: Amber Glow

MAC Amber Glow Mineralize Blush ($23.50 for 0.10 oz.) is described as “warm peach.” It is a soft peach with a hint of pink–almost apricot-like–with a pale champagne shimmer. NARS Sex Appeal is a touch pinker, and it doesn’t have any shimmer. MAC By Candlelight is warmer, rosier, and very metallic in comparison. MAC Porcelain Pink is pinker and appears much more metallic on the skin.

This has a soft, luminous finish to it that works well on the skin. It’s not frosted, and it’s not too shimmery, so it doesn’t emphasize pores or skin imperfections. Though it seems plenty pigmented, the color blends out quickly, so depending on the intensity you want, you may have to pat and very lightly blend along the edges.  The texture is finely-milled, but it is also powdery. Those with natural redness in their cheeks may find this a quick and easy way to neutralize it without adding too much color.  I only wish Amber Glow lasted longer once applied–I get a mere six hours; by seven, it’s half gone!

I just ordered this last night, as my first mineralize blush and I’m so excited to hear that it’s not absolute crap and will suit my extremely pale skin with redness! This collection really does seem to be one of the better ones this year.

Christine, thank you for all your hard work, it doesn’t go unnoticed. Lots of makeup addicts depend upon your reviews. Your awesome! I stopped by my local MAC counter today and I put Stereo Rose on my cheeks and brushed Amber Glow on top of it. It was stunning on me (I am NC 20/NW20) by the time I left the store, I had compliments. I purchased Stereo Rose b/c I missed it last year, but picked up Porcelain Pink. Now, I have to decide if I should go back and get the Amber Glow….I was waiting on your review to make that decision. What are your thoughts?

Thank you for the swathes. I have this, a Porcelain Pink and Stereo Rose on hold at Macys. I can’t wait to pick them up tomorrow. I will double check for gold veins, that was a great tip!

Also, I cannot wait to see a swatch of Apres Chic and Haute Altitute. I always wait for your swatches since we have kinda the same skin (NC25)

I just bought this the other day and love it! I wore it for 8 hours yesterday and it still looked amazing! It is a great blush for when I wear more dark lipstick because it doesn’t clash…it just makes my cheeks look healthy and glowing.

I wish I had read this before commenting on Porcelain Pink. I have a lot of redness, and I love peachy shades, so it would be awesome if I could get my hands on Amber Glow.

This looks much nicer to me than Porcelain Pink. I was totally turned off PP when I swatched it in store. Far too many irredescent shimmery/metallic shades of all types going on in that one.

This shade looks much more wearable. It looks great on you! I might have to go back & give this one a try if my local store still has it. How did I miss it the last time I was there?? Crossing my fingers that they’re slow to sell out again!
