MAC Apres Chic: Gentle

MAC Gentle Mineralize Blush ($23.50 for 0.10 oz.) is described as “raspberry with gold pearl.” It’s a plum-tinged pink with fine gold shimmer. MAC Stay Pretty is lighter, pinker, and has much less shimmer. Tom Ford Wicked is cooler-toned and richer. Illamasqua Ambition is more muted, more plum. MAC Giggly is purpler.

It has good color payoff, though it is a little dusty. The texture is soft, lightweight, and finely-milled, which makes it easy to apply, and it’s even easier to blend out. It can be layered to get mostly true-to-pan color. The gold shimmer gives off a soft, warm sheen, but there are a few bits of shimmer on the skin. Gentle wore the best on me, out of the three here, and it lasted a full six and a half hours with only minor fading after seven hours.  This shade reads only slightly cool-toned, while the golden shimmer adds a veil of warmth, so it should work well on both cool and warm skin tones.

P.S. — According to MAC’s site, it’s permanent and not limited edition.

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! This is such a pretty pink blush! I just picked up my first Stereo Rose and I love it, but I might have to go back for this one.

Christine, will you be reviewing the Mineralize Eyeshadows from the Apres Chic collection? I’m curious to see the swatches since they have such beautiful veining in them.

Pretty but I just bought TF’s Wicked and Stereo Rose so I’ll be skipping this one and for some reason, these Mineralized blushes don’t last that long for me but still pretty enough to bring along and reapply. As usual, thanks for the review! xoxo

The press release always says everything is LE unless everything is permanent, but it is a blanket limited edition launch. I don’t know if it is or not, because MAC corporate’s press release says yes, the MAC website says it is not. Nordstrom has it as a separate listing.

I bought Gentle a month ago at a MAC store that was not freestanding, one of the artists recommended it. I am looking at it right now and it appears to be the same, but i could be wrong

are you looking for more of a highlighter or blush? soft and gentle is generally used as more of a highlighter. It has a lot of shimmer, where as the msf blushes are strictly blushes with multi-dimensional color with some shimmer but much less then soft and gentle. Other msf blushes not limited edition to try are Warm Soul and Daintily

I picked this up on a whim a few days ago along with Dollymix, and this looks AWFUL on me. It applied patchy, wouldn’t blend out, and just looked awful on my skintone. Like I had a fever or something. 🙁
