LORAC Fairytale Forest PRO Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Fairytale Forest
LORAC Fairytale Forest Pro Palette (2020) ($35.00 for 0.56 oz.) is a more desaturated neutral eyeshadow palette with a mix of mattes and shimmers. It included eight matte eyeshadows and 10 shimmer eyeshadows, which all performed pretty well; they were pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing.
There were a few shimmers that seemed to have more transparent bases, but they weren’t dry, so they still had good adhesion and shine. The matte formula can be a touch powdery but tended to have higher coverage that wasn’t prone to sheering out or having fallout, so it was more something present in the pan but not during application.

Birch
Birch is a muted, medium-dark yellow with warm, more orange-leaning undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage with a soft, blendable texture that was somewhat powdery. It wore well for seven and a half hours on me before fading visibly.

Formula Overview
-
In 2020, the brand reformulated their PRO eyeshadows and released new palettes (and new shades, however new-new they might be). The formula is supposed to be "highly pigmented" that "last[s] without creasing" and "blend[s] effortlessly." Each eyeshadow can also be removed from its respective palette--there's an included tool to do so--to rearrange the palette or depot (nice touch!).
The mattes felt less thin and were not quite as dry as the prior formula--a bit silkier--though the matte eyeshadows are still lightly to moderately powdery with light fallout but are blendable. I think it's a formula more suitable to someone who tends to prefer buildable coverage and a little more muted color.
The shimmers were slightly creamier, smooth, and blendable with higher color coverage that had good adherence to bare skin. They seemed a little thicker than the prior formula, which I think gave them better hold.
For the most part, they were easy to use with most shades lasting between seven and eight hours, which is average, so the longevity wasn't any better/worse than most eyeshadows on the market (including the prior formula).

What a beautiful palette to wake up to on my birthday! This is gorgeous and I love all the shimmer shades, every single one of them and not a pink, red or bright orange to be seen.
This is going to be added to my wishlist for Christmas for sure.
Happy birthday 🎂
Thank you Robin, I had a really lovely day.
hi Genevieve! I hope you had a nice birthday! Just wanted to let you know that this palette is 40% off today at Lorac for Black Friday. Take care!
Ever so nice. What a pretty palette. I think there’s maybe 1 shadow (or 2) that I’d be less likely to use but all are useable for me. Love this!
Really enjoyed it!
I’ve always been a fan of Lorac shadows, but they’ve fallen off my radar in the last couple of years. It’s nice to see something new from them. These shades are very typical “Lorac.” I think if this palette had been split in half for a lower price, it might be tempting. Regardless, I have these shades multiple times over, so I’ll only be admiring this lovely from afar.
Very solid quality, and very much my taste! However, this probably also bodes to it very possibly having dupes all through my stash. But boy oh boy, is it wonderful to see Lorac bring something new and beautiful to the table!
I agree on both points….great to see something so lovely from LORAC (if the brand was easy for me to purchase, I’d be buying this but I can’t purchase in person and that’s an issue for me) but like you, I can probably dupe most of these shades from palettes and singles I already own. That doesn’t stop me from wanting it, though!
I’m glad to see this review! I ended up picking up the palette since I have been loving the Lorac palettes I have. I’m excited to use this when it’s delivered!
Lorac still doesn’t ship internationally, I suppose one might buy their products from Amazon though.
This palette isn’t really for me, I find it a bit too warm, but it looks like a very nice one that can easily be used to do very natural to very festive makeups.
I love the look Christine did.
Fog is the color I’ve begun asking for again as an answer to overly pink transition shades and Wind was a surprise love. No regrets on picking up this palette as my holiday makeup purchase. I love it, I love the other two in this format, and I will buy more. Lorac is quietly killing it and I’m here for the brand’s future releases.
