Huda Beauty Topaz Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Topaz
Huda Beauty Topaz Obsessions Eyeshadow PaletteHuda Beauty Topaz Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette ($27.00 for 0.35 oz.) is more of a mixed bag than I’d expect these types of shades to be, since we have certainly seen numerous orange/copper/red-themed shades over the last few years. The matte formula was noticeably drier, though actual application showed them to be rather pigmented and easy to use, so while they felt one way, it only seemed to inhibit the wear a bit. The shimmer formula seems denser and creamier to the touch, but then is harder to apply with dry brushes like a traditional eyeshadow due to the additional slip.

Topaz #1
Topaz #1 is a bright, tangerine orange with warm, yellow undertones and a matte finish. The consistency was soft, slightly drier and thinner, but it blended out well on my lid. It had opaque pigmentation that stayed on well for seven and a half hours on me.

Topaz #2
Topaz #2 is a medium copper with warm, orange undertones and a sparkling finish. It had medium coverage, which was hard to build up without using a fingertip or a dampened brush to apply it to the lid as the texture was denser and thicker. I had trouble blending and spreading it around, too, due to that thicker, denser consistecy. It wore well for seven and a half hours on me but had fallout over time.

Topaz #3
Topaz #3 is a slightly muted, medium orange with warm undertones and a matte finish. While the texture was drier and felt almost chalky to me (a combination of dustiness and thinness), it had excellent pigmentation and blended out easily on my skin. It didn’t seem to look dry or dusty on my skin either. The eyeshadow lasted well for seven and a half hours on me before fading noticeably.

Topaz #9
Topaz #9 is a medium brown with warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff paired with a lightly creamy, denser texture that had more slip, which I find often makes the base pigment harder to apply evenly (but can help more of the sparkle adhere without falling off the lid during application and that was true here). It applied best with a firm, pressing motion onto my lid or else using a dampened brush, which helped it apply more smoothly and evenly from the get-go. This shade wore well for eight hours with very little fallout.

Very pretty but an easy pass b/c I have all of these shades.
Probably the one out of all 5 that I am relatively certain I can locate dupes for within what I already have. I really DO love the color scheme of Topaz, but I wish that the quality was as wonderful as the colors within!
Beautiful colors and you did a very pretty orange-rust look! Thanks!
I’m going to skip this one. I have better oranges and coppers in my collection. I like the first shade a lot, though. It’s a really pretty tangerine color.
Hmm. I’m with you Christine. You’d think this palette would be gold. Considering these shades seem be incredibly easy to formulate these days. This was the one I was most excited to try. I need to check it out in person first sounds like
Definitely check it out in person! I think the mattes look/perform better on than they “feel” in the pan, at least.
It is certainly a very bright Topaz selection here, but the second shade is a major fail and shades 6 and 9 are perfect dupes for each other. The palette is a bit hit and miss with the mattes and I think this is an easily dupable palette.
It’s really Padparadscha, not topaz. Not to be hyper corrective or anything. P is a sapphire that varies within this color family. Agree that this is quite dupable for anyone who has acquired e/s since Mod Ren. I have 5 dupes for some shades, and these are not even my colors of choice. The CP dupes alone are endless. Still, the look of this in pan is quite impressive. Not everyone does the research, and I’m sure it will do well.
Exactly ! It really feels like Padparadscha Sapphire for me too. I would have expected more golden hues from a palette called Topaz. I hope they will do another one but more gold based
These colors are good on me. But I have Viseart Siren theory palette so am set.
