Huda Beauty Toffee Brown Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette ($29.00 for 0.45 oz.) includes five matte eyeshadows and four shimmer eyeshadows. Two of the shimmers were a little less versatile–better applied with fingertips–while two shimmers were really easy to work with. The mattes, with the exception of the lightest shade, were pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing.

It had rich color coverage with a soft, smooth, and blendable texture that was lightly powdery but velvety and more substantial, so it wasn’t prone to sheering out too readily nor was fallout a concern. It stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading visibly.

Toffee Brown #2 is a light-medium peach with warmer undertones and a sparkling finish. It had a denser, slightly firmer consistency that worked better with a fingertip or a dampened brush rather than a dry brush, which had a tougher time picking up product and laying it down evenly. It had semi-opaque, buildable color coverage that lasted decently for seven and a half hours on me.

A pretty palette and I thought I would really love this – but I find with the 5 mattes and a couple of dodgy shimmers that it’s really not quite working for me.
As much as I love it, I’m not wholly convinced that I need it. It just seems like I do have many similar enough shades around here, that the jury is still out.
Too warm and too “mustard-y” for me but I do find 2 of the shadows really interesting to look at in their pans. #2 looks like it does around here when the very last vestiges of snow are still hanging around and #4 really puts me in mind of those old MAC Mineralize eyshadows that had that same sort of swirled colour effect in the pans and that looked so fantastic – shadows like Earthly and Clarity and quite a few others (though once applied, of course, they just blended into one colour).
