Huda Beauty Rose Quartz Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Rose Quartz
Huda Beauty Rose Quartz Eyeshadow Palette ($67.00 for 0.59 oz.) includes eight matte eyeshadows and 10 shimmery eyeshadows. I appreciate that the brand does different textures and formulas throughout their palettes, but it does make for a bit of a learning curve when working with their products and ratings can be all over the place as performance is not consistent from shade to shade.
The matte eyeshadows were a little thin and more often lightly to moderately powdery, so they performed best over an eyeshadow primer. The shimmers tended to be on the thicker side, so they did not always layer as evenly with the thinner mattes; a few shimmers had to be applied with a fingertip or thinned out with a dampened brush.

Quartz
Quartz is a very light, peachy orange with moderate, warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had mostly opaque pigmentation but applied best with a fingertip as the texture was denser and a little stiff, while still being thin, so it did not transfer as evenly to bare skin as desired. There were signs of fading after seven hours of wear.

Cosmic Love
Cosmic Love is a medium purple with warmer undertones and cooler, blue-to-violet shifting sparkle. The texture was moderately dense, slightly thick, so it picked up best with a fingertip to get an even layer of product that transferred to the lid without lots of fallout. It had mostly opaque, buildable color payoff. This shade wore well for eight hours before fading a bit but had light fallout over time.

Joy
Joy is a light-medium pink with subtle, warm-toned pink with a sparkling finish. It had a thicker consistency that was more prone to emphasizing lid texture as it had a tendency to “clump” a little, so I’d recommend applying it with a fingertip or a dampened brush, which helped to smooth it out a bit. It had semi-opaque color payoff that lasted decently for seven and a half hours.

Love Stone
Love Stone has a glossy, transparent base with fine pearl that was slightly pink and warm-toned. Short of breaking up the pearls in the pan itself, it was hard to get more than a glossy finish on skin. It made everything it was next to migrate and slide around, so it did not work well as a companion product to the rest of the eyeshadows. The “best” use I had for it was on the brow bone or as a cheek highlighter (the latter being the best).

Serenity
Serenity is a darker mauve with cool undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had a soft, moderately powdery texture that was on the thinner side, so it was more prone to sheering out. It had medium color payoff that was only buildable when applied over an eyeshadow primer. It stayed on well for seven hours before fading visibly.

Abundance
Abundance is a darker lavender with neutral undertones and a metallic finish. It had a very soft, almost too yielding consistency, so it was best picked up with a lighter touch and a denser brush. It had opaque color coverage that adhered evenly and blended out well. This shade lasted well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Moon Magic
Moon Magic is a bright, iridescent pink and blue mix of shimmer and fine sparkle. It had a more emollient consistency that helped all the sparkly bits adhere to bare skin without being prone to fallout (even during wear). It had semi-opaque coverage but the base seemed more transparent to my eye. This shade wore well for eight hours before fading a bit.

Radiate
Radiate is a medium, rosy mauve with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff paired with a soft, somewhat powdery texture that was on the thinner side, but I didn’t have issues with it sheering out too readily or having fallout. It stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading visibly.

Self Love
Self Love is a light pink with soft, warm undertones and a frosted finish. The texture was thicker and almost chunky, which I found resulted in a more textured/thicker look applied to bare skin. I’d recommend using a dampened brush, which helped to stretch and spread the product out without compromising the full coverage. It lasted well for seven and a half hours on me before fading noticeably.

Despite the wide variations in quality, I still really like this palette. Thank you for reviewing it, Christine!
Yes, I want it. But on sale only. So, this nearing my end of being Rouge for a bit, might be the perfect time to purchase it at 20% off. Only catch? I then remember that I have ColourPop Lilac U A Lot and It’s My Pleasure, Viseart Amethyst, ND Lila and Glam, Huda Jaguar and New Nude. Perhaps I have enough purples, pinks, rosy browns and all? Calculating, calculating, calculating…
Bye, rouge, significantly. Preach!
A very interesting palette: on the plus side there are lots of varied colours and shades in the pink/purple family so you can make a whole lot of tonal eye looks. On the negative side, who would have thought that stones were appropriate as an eyeshadow?
I know how I want my mattes to be and these are not it. I should know this by now.. I find Huda mattes to be too thin and dusty for my tastes and so I always feel like I am working too hard. I can grab other formulas and have my eye look done in minutes. I was miffed at Love Stone (wot dat?) and Mantra swatched horribly for me. I sent the palette back. The next time I get all doe eyed at a Huda palette, remind me of this post..
I’ve been anticipating this review because some of these colors do appeal to me, but overall it looks like a pass. And I can’t even LOOK at that Love Stone monstrosity! Blecchhh!!!!
I do like this color style, very wearable. And the look you created is beautiful! Seamless blending. They always wanna throw in that one weird glossy shade though.
Oh Christine, what are you doing to me.
I was really hopeful about this palette as I love cooler toned eyeshadows and most pinks that are released always end up warm so this had such potential!
I’ll have to just keep hoping that one day, the perfect cool toned palette will find me.
I’m in the same boat as you, but I actually really love the palette. I got it before she posted the review and it’s really nice. It reminds me of K-beauty shadows. The petri dish gloss shade is garbage though. The only use I can seem to get out of it is as a base for the shimmers. But I’m so tempted to scrape it out and pop a depotted ABH shadow into it. The tiny square pan looks like it’s the right size to fit inside.
I bought this with my Rouge 20% discount and im loving it so far. Cosmic Love is stunning and one of the main reasons I bought the palette. I totally agree about Love Stone, it doesn’t play well with others. I expected that though so ill just use it under my brow bone or as a quick glossy eye look by itself.
I still have to find a Huda palette I want to get. The smaller ones from earlier this year almost made me want one or two of the. So far not one of the larger palettes have made me feel for it.
I love some of the shades in this, and would buy them as singles, unfortunately there are a lot more shades I don’t like. I also find that glossy shade that looks like uneven pearls, Love Stone awful. It’s something with it that just make me think of bacteria growing on a perti dish.
I see one or two minis I would enjoy from this. But the whole palette, no. It’s unlikely I would get minis, since my first low buy rule was no new brands. Many Hudas have appealed, but between no new brands…they only drive you more towards additional selections and the finicky nature of the mattes, no. Thanks for clarifying the thought process about how to rule things out.
I bought this palette during the Rouge sale and have been loving it so far. I don’t always use a primer, but I haven’t had any issues with the eyeshadows, matte or shimmer. I only own one other palette from Huda, which is Mercury Retrograde, and I find the quality comparable. I like that the Rose Quartz is a cooler palette overall with a bit of warmth thrown in for variety. If it’s a colour story someone in interested in, I still think it’s worth picking up and trying. And Love Stone, really, it’s not that bad. Mine is just an iridescent pink blue that does amplify shimmer if you apply a light layer. If anyone’s ever used Fyrinnae’s Pixie Epoxy, it’s kind of similar in feel. Tacky, doesn’t really dry down, but if you use a really light hand, it grips flaky and high shimmer/sparkle eyeshadows well.
Thank you so much for clarifying! I suspected that might be the intent behind Love Stone, but everyone gets so bizarrely angry (it’s makeup, not politics) about these glossy ones included in her bigger palettes that I just couldn’t figure out why she keeps putting them in… for the controversy, I thought, perhaps. But as a base to amplify shimmer makes PERFECT SENSE, and it’s how I will use it, if it ever arrives… !
Thanks again for the counterpoint and the perfect explanation (I don’t have Pixie Epoxy but have always wanted to try it) to all the static I’ve been reading.
Well, yesterday, I jumped the shark and bought this palette DESPITE having more purple/pink/mauve themed palettes than anyone would ever need. Wore it today. HATED Cosmic Love so much because of the fallout all over my cheekbones and how sheer it looked that I was all set to return the palette to Sephora today after my Remicade infusion… until I read your two comments about the petri dish shade being a sticky base. Tried it on the back of my hand and put Cosmic Love over it; and WOW! No more flake city! It looked absolutely delightful. Going to try it on my lids as a super thin layer, then add that shade over it. Fingers crossed, it doesn’t crease. But it didn’t seem like it would? Has anyone else had success using that combo?
