Huda Beauty Naughty Nude Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Naughty Nude
Huda Beauty Naughty Nude Eyeshadow Palette ($67.00 for 0.59 oz.) is a new, rose-toned neutral palette with a mix of finishes and formulas across 18 shades. Per the brand, there are 5 different formulas within it. It’s not the most user-friendly palette with so many formulas as some apply just fine with dry brushes and others really work best with a fingertip or a dampened brush.
The mattes seemed more blendable and better-performing, overall, compared to some past offerings by the brand, though they were a softer, more powdery formula. The marbleized eyeshadows were easier to use than anticipated but can be hard to visualize how they will appear when putting together a look as they end up mixing to a color. In general, the more sparkly and metallic shades were better applied with a fingertip to minimize fallout and improve evenness in the laydown of product.

Filthy
Filthy is a light-medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had medium, buildable pigmentation paired with a soft, moderately powdery consistency that had light fallout. It also caused other shades to turn grayish, which may or may not be desirable. It lasted nicely for seven hours before fading visibly.

Passion
Passion is a medium plum base that leaned slightly warmer in tone paired with cooler, blue-to-violet shimmer that contrasted against it. There was less of a shift as it was shimmer in contrast to the base. The texture was lightly creamy, thin and not stiff to work with, so it yielded opaque coverage that blended out well along the edges. It wore well for eight hours before showing signs of fading.

Shameless
Shameless is a brighter, light-medium coral-orange base with flecks of cooler pink and gold sparkle throughout. The texture was lightly creamy and more emollient to the point where the added slip made it harder to apply the color evenly and to build it up to greater opacity (it was more medium in coverage otherwise). There was also some fallout that occurred if I tried to build up the color. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Please Me
Please Me is a brighter, light caramel brown with moderate, warm undertones and an intense, metallic finish with flecks of pink and gold micro-sparkle. The eyeshadow had a creamier, more emollient feel to it, though it was still more of a powder formula than a cream one. It had opaque color payoff in a single layer, which applied evenly but had a touch of fallout as I blended it out. This shade wore nicely for eight hours before creasing a bit.

Hard
Hard is a medium brown with subtle, warm undertones and a satin finish. It had less overt shimmer as it had a subtle sheen. The texture was more like a cream-powder eyeshadow in feel–more emollient and felt like I could push on it like a cream product but behaved more like a powder eyeshadow once it came into contact with my skin.
It had rich color coverage that applied evenly and was fairly blendable but worked better with a denser brush for diffusing the edges. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Slippery
Slippery is a glossy base with a tinge of pink and gold pearl paired with a subtle sheen. It had some tackiness, too, but it wasn’t overly thick. In order to get greater coverage out of it, one needs to use a toothpick or a tool to break up and mix all the pearls with the base, as just using it with a brush or fingertip from the surface resulted in next-to-nothing coverage (it was intended to have “sheer” coverage, per the brand).
The glossiness did cause other products to break down a bit and crease. I felt it worked better as a tacky base for increasing intensify of some of the shimmer shades, though it sometimes made it harder to blend out matte shades.

Tantric is a brighter, medium gold with strong, warm orange undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. The texture was lightly creamy and more emollient, so it applied better with a fingertip or a dampened brush than a dry brush, though a dry brush was still workable–it was just more prone to fallout and wasn’t as even in the initial laydown of product. Naughty is a medium-dark, reddish-brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had medium, buildable pigmentation with a soft, moderately powdery texture, which was prone to fallout. This shade wasn’t as blendable as it could have been either. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Provocative
Provocative is a medium-dark pink with moderate, warm undertones and flecks of pink and gold micro-sparkle over a more pearl-like sheen. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation, which seemed to be more a result of a slightly translucent base. The consistency felt lightly creamy, smooth, and dense without being overly firm or too thick. This shade wore nicely for eight hours before showing signs of fading.

Desire
Desire is a brighter, medium red with strong, warm orange undertones and a metallic finish. The texture was more cream-like, slightly thicker, and it was harder to apply it with a dry brush as a result. I had the best luck using fingertips to smooth it into place and then a rougher brush to diffuse the edges. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer but was harder to work with to build up or even out the color. It wore decently for eight hours before creasing on me.

Juicy
Juicy is a dusty, medium-dark coral with warmer undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque color coverage that applied well to bare skin with a smooth, even lay down of product that diffused readily along the edges. The consistency was soft, finely-milled, and blendable but lightly powdery. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

This is a gorgeous palette, and I actually do love it. However…I do have Huda Rich Nudes, New Nude palette, CT Bejeweled, etc., And so I’m trying to talk myself down off this proverbial ledge. Deep down I know I don’t really “need” this. But man, it’s such a perfect deeper and richer toned “nude/naked” palette!
As a side note, since this is popping up at 8:30 a.m., please tell me that you slept last night? I worry!
My posting schedule is 5AM (QOTD), 7AM, 9AM, 10:30AM (community post), 12PM, and 2PM PT unless things go really awry (sometimes that 2PM PT might be worked on the day off and go live late, e.g. sneak peek swatches of a super collection). I did stay up late to get the last wear times in, but I did sleep some! Don’t worry about it 🙂
Wow! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! God bless you for this schedule!!! I was hoping for dupes for the latest ND palette and I see why they were available so fast!
What do you think of the palette when it comes to creating looks? It seems to me that there’s to much metallic shadows, so it’d be harder to create something that’s not overly metallic using just this palette.
I do love this color scheme, but I’m not really a fan of metallic shadows, when I do use one it’s just one on the lid in each look….
It had a decent balance of depth and finish for me, though the type of looks will be in a similar tone since they are all closer together tonally!
Eh; I’ll be skipping this one. I can dupe most of it, and my hooded eyes won’t get along with the gloss shade. Plus, I think the packaging is really unattractive.
After the unique Mercury Retrograde from holiday last year, doing a bunch of berry tones seems like a huge step backwards to me.
I’ve read mixed reviews of Slippery; some love it as a topper, but I can’t see how it would work well on my already oily eyelids. That would be the only reason I’d want to try this as I can dupe most of the shades.
Thank you for such a quick review!
I need this like a need a hole in the head and yet here I am adding it to my Sephora cart.
Sice I used to be a fan of Huda’s palette, I’m happy that the brand has retuned to the old quality standards, after some dud relases. It is very nice indeed, but I also think that there is nothing very unique into the colour story. Huda has her own colours, and she tends to repropose them everywhere. As result? She is duping helself many time! Really, 75,% of my pallettes are hers, and with them I think I am very close to dupe this. Sadly, because it looks much more promising swatched than from the releases picture. Side note: does someone else than me notice that some ehm… Weird things occurred after searching on internet for swatches or review of this palette? I mean, I was in train reading the news and the aids in the site changed in an unexpected way… I think the only reason could be that I googled the name of this? I was lucky that due to the social distance, on train it is mandatory to leave a void sit between each passenger, because if there was someone near me… It would have been a lit… Embarassing 😅😅
Hmm, your review of this is worse than what you wrote for Colourpop’s similar recent releases. Did you factor the price in, or this is really just worse absolutely despite the price?
Price isn’t part of the rating for either palette.
Wow, this palette is all over the place. I was considering it as I thought it would be good for dark skin, but it’s too erratic. And what’s up with slippery? Just looking at it makes me very uncomfortable. Kinda grosses me out.
Having not read about Slippery, I thought, whaaaaa? Pass me that bong again, Priscilla. I.Really.Did.Not.Understand. I always like the idea of formula experimentation. But sometimes it seems like experimentation for experimentation’s own sake. The results, even as a topcoat, don’t exactly warrant the ‘special treatment.’ The end does not justify the elaborate means. Especially if the treatment leaves you scratching your head. Hmmmm…
I have the New Nudes (which I love) but this just seem like its darker little sister. I don’t see any reason to have both of these.
I’ve never been tempted, at least not enough to consider buying a Huda palette, this one doesn’t make the wish list either. I think this would be too warm, and with my hooded eyes Slippery would be a joke, and not a good one. Besides, it, Slippery kind of grosses me out.
Easy pass, but still, thank you for reviewing it!
Wow, they swatched pretty well. Didn’t expect this from this palette. Hmmm. Don’t really need these colors though, so it will be a pass, but it’s not a bad palette at all. I like the diversity in textures. I enjoy that in a palette.
