Givenchy Magnolia Organza (301) Le Rouge Lipstick ($36.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “bright reddish pink.” It’s a bright, bold, medium-dark pink with warm, reddish undertones and a luminous sheen. The color payoff was incredibly rich and yielded full color coverage in a single stroke. It wore well for five and a half hours and was hydrating while worn. MAC Pleasurefruit (LE, $16.00) is pinker. Givenchy Rose Dressing (202) (P, $36.00) is lighter. Maybelline Shocking Coral (P, $7.49) is darker, slightly warmer. MAC Watch Me Simmer (LE, $15.00) is lighter. MAC Heart to Heart (LE, $15.00) is lighter. MAC Force of Love (LE, $15.00) is lighter, pinker. Guerlain Gracy (LE, $49.50) is slightly darker. See comparison swatches.

Mandarine Bolero (304) Le Rouge Lipstick ($36.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “muted red orange.” It’s a muted, coral-orange with a luminous sheen. It had smooth, opaque color coverage, and the consistency applied evenly. This shade wore well for five and a half hours and was lightly hydrating while worn. Givenchy Rose Dentelle (203) (P, $36.00) is somewhat pinker. MAC Sweet Grenadine (LE, $16.00) is more orange. Chanel Pygmalion (LE, $34.00) is slightly pinker. MAC Lady at Play (P, $22.00) is pinker. See comparison swatches.

Carmin Escarpin (306) Le Rouge Lipstick ($36.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “warm poppy red.” It’s a orange-red with warm undertones and a soft, luminous shine. The consistency was lightly creamy, easy to apply, and applied evenly. The color coverage was very nearly opaque, and the lipstick lasted six hours and left behind a soft stain and was nicely hydrating. NARS Future Red (LE, $26.00) is slightly redder. Urban Decay Bang (P, $22.00) is more orange. Maybelline Orange Edge (LE, $7.49) is very similar. Maybelline Infra-red (LE, $7.49) is redder. Maybelline Vibrant Mandarin (P, $7.49) is similar. Love this grouping .. Wow! I have Magnolia Organza 301 and it is my top pick from this line.. far better on my skin than Rose Dressing which is very nice, but doesn’t have the same oompf factor.

I am loving your reviews on these Givenchy lipsticks. Even though my colouring is similar to yours (GA maestro 5.5), i seem to be wearing a cooler lip lately. Is this an absolute no-no with a warm skin-tone?
Are there any lipsticks in this collection that you love (and recommend) that lean to the cooler side?

You look amazing in most photos…these lipsticks are outrageous on you! Stunning. I don’t think I’ve seen you look better. Loved the first…then scrolled down and couldn’t decide which one was most flattering. I know you get buried in options to wear in your everyday life outside testing new products. Please, get a lot of use out of these three. Just lovely!!!!

Oh my god these colors are amazing.

I can’t afford one $36 lipstick, let alone three so I can’t buy these…but I am definitely shopping my stash for dupes!

I bought several shades from this particular collection and they never lasted long on my lips. Three hours max.Quite moisturizing but the fact it wouldn’t stick around for very long was quite a disappointment considering the price. 🙁 These shades look marvelous on you Christine.

102 Beige Plume, 104 Brun Cachemire and then 301 Magnolia Organza which is my fave shade out of them all. I will probably need to fill in my lips with a nude lip liner to help them last a little bit longer.

Christine I was wondering, in a review when you write that a lipstick lasted 4 hours on you, are you eating and drinking during that time? I just can’t get anything to last on me over an hour if I’m eating and drinking.

Christine Avatar

Hi Elisa,

I’m usually not eating, but if it’s something that wears 8+ hours, then I’ve probably eaten with it on. I don’t have an issue with color fading really while drinking as I either use a straw or sip with the inside of my lip cupping the edge of the glass so minimal product is left on the cup/glass. I usually apply one lip color in the morning, eat lunch, then another 1-2 colors then, and then 1-2 colors after dinner.

Hi Christine,

Thanks so much for your reply. I was curious about your routine when test lip products. Maybe a straw will help improve the longevity for me. Thanks for the info as always!

Christine Avatar

Generally, if you really need it to last for hours and through drinking (and somewhat through meals), drier formulations will always last the longest – which is why often putting a lip pencil on underneath a lipstick helps everything adhere better. A shade like red, berry, wine, etc. also lasts longer even in more emollient textures, as they often stain the natural lip color, so the fade is much, much more gradual and less visible in a sense!

Hope that helps! 🙂

I just purchased this lipstick in the shade Carmin Escarpin. This is one of the smoothest and creamiest lip applications I’ve experienced! The shade is complimentary to my skin tone, and I love the leather case! Definitely a winner!
