Dominique Cosmetics Lemonade Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Lemonade
Dominique Cosmetics Lemonade Eyeshadow Palette ($42.00 for 0.63 oz.) is a fun, summer palette that features six shimmery shades and four matte shades. The mattes were particularly impressive, while the shimmers were good with one being a slight miss for me (but workable). The majority of the eyeshadows had good pigmentation, were blendable, and lasted for eight hours.
Worth mentioning, this palette was originally released a couple of months ago, but there were numerous complaints with respect to a couple of the shimmers being very stiff/too firmly pressed, and the brand responded (quite quickly, actually) by going back and tweaking the press of the shimmer shades and then sending out replacement palettes to everyone who had ordered this palette (without requiring anyone to send their original palettes back). The shimmers in the replacement version were definitely softer and more yielding than the original palette. I was impressed by that level of customer service, though, and it was communicated very well throughout, from the initial information to follow-ups on ETAs and shipping notifications.

Lemon Soda
Lemon Soda is a bright, light-medium yellow with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The pigmentation was opaque in a single layer, while the consistency was smooth, lightly creamy, and dense but not thick or stiff to work with. It applied well to bare skin and wore well for eight hours on me before creasing faintly.

Pink Lemonade
Pink Lemonade is a bright, medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had rich color payoff in a single layer with a smooth, lightly creamy texture that was soft enough to yield product onto a brush but dense enough that it adhered well to bare skin and didn’t have issues with fallout. The color stayed on well for eight and a half hours before it started to crease slightly.

Nude Tea
Nude Tea is a soft peach with warm, yellow undertones and a matte finish. The pigmentation was good, while the texture was soft, a smidgen powdery in the pan, but blendable and easy to work with. There was a touch of sheerness when I tried using it on my brow bone, but it didn’t turn other shades gray. This shade lasted for seven and a half hours on me.

Peach
Peach is a medium peach with a hint of pink undertones and warmer, golden shimmer that gave it a metallic finish. The texture was slightly denser and stiffer, so I had to use a heavier hand with this one or else use a dampened brush to get maximum coverage in a single layer. Once on the lid, it was more blendable than I expected but wasn’t as easy to work with as other shades in the palette. It wore well for eight hours on me before it started to crease faintly.

Cucumber
Cucumber is a light green with strong, warm yellow undertones and a metallic finish. It had rich pigmentation with a smooth, dense texture that wasn’t too firmly pressed in the pan that it was difficult to work with, but I would recommend using a flat, synthetic brush over a fluffy one. Mango
Mango is a rich, medium-dark yellow with warm, orange undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had opaque color coverage in a single layer that adhered beautifully to bare skin and did not sheer out (unless I wanted it to). Strawberry is a medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and a sparkling finish. It was slightly pinker and cooler compared to Pink Lemonade. The texture was soft, dense but not thick, and picked up well with a brush. Blueberry Fizz
Blueberry Fizz is a deep, bluish-purple with a sparkling, metallic finish. It had good color coverage, but there was noticeable slip (felt more silicone-heavy to me) and had a tendency to spread a bit too easily, which resulted in a bit of sheerness. I liked this shade best applied with a flat, stiff brush pushed and gently pulled into place or else pressed onto the lid with a fingertip. The key is really to lay it down where you want and then gently blend the edges to avoid moving it around too much (a bit like a cream eyeshadow). It wore well for eight hours on me with a touch of fallout over time.

Ooh, those are really quite lovely and that kind of customer service will go a long way in getting me to try a brand. I know she’s coming to Sephora. Maybe i’ll pick it up then!
I’m curious if the brand is staying at Ulta or moving to Sephora.
She had an instagram post saying she was coming to Sephora. I think it was pretty recent, I just saw yesterday.
I know 🙂 I was curious whether the brand will remain at Ulta as well.
Me too!
The Latte palette is no longer available on Ulta’s website, so I’m guessing the brand is moving.
Oh, thanks for the heads up! 🙂
I’ll have to wait for that because at 23$/* added for shipping to France, that won’t do it for me. Argh!
You can get it for 36€ at Beauty Bay. That’s how I plan to order mine 🙂
I have to chime in because Dominique went above and beyond with this palette as far as their Customer Service, and they deserve acknowledgement.
I ordered the “first” Lemonade palette and the colors I used worked well, although I didn’t use every one of the shadows. But I was surprised and very impressed when I heard from Dominique that they were sending out replacement palettes, no questions asked, to everyone who bought the first release of the palette. I have received the “second” Lemonade palette but haven’t yet used it.
That kind of regard for the customer — not to mention the great quality palette — have won me over.
BTW I had the Latte palette and it’s very nice, too.
I was very surprised at the response – they responded quite quickly and went with a really expensive solution (replace everyone’s palettes, so the cost to manufacture new palettes + additional shipping fees) that is pretty rare to see brands do… so for a new, smaller brand like Dominique Cosmetics, it was just impressive because I imagine the financial toll was quite painful as product-based business like makeup can require a lot of cash on hand to due to inventory requirements.
I’ve never heard of this brand but that is a pretty cute palette. it definitely says “LEMONDADE” to me. I love the branding on the it as well.
It’s an influencer brand, but they started selling the brand’s first product (Latte palette) at Ulta recently – Christen Dominique is the influencer!
That is seriously impressive customer service! I had no interest in these palettes until Tarababyz on YouTube raved about them both and now I’m excited the brand is coming to Sephora so I can check them out in person!
I was quite impressed myself! I can only recall Bite replacing one of the LE lip releases last year, but I can’t remember any other brand going that route for a product getting complaints (contrast with ABH Subculture or TF White Peach).
What a pretty palette! I like that it has spring/summer colors that aren’t too pastel.
Me too! They have some pop, which makes them easier (and likely more pigmented) than typical pastels but fits the theme.
I think maybe it’s because they aren’t white based. I love lighter eye colors, esp bec my eyes are deep set, but pastels so often fail. I’d rather see this at Ulta than S, esp having the points to get it free. This is the first colorful palette that has grabbed me in a long time. Verrrry pretty.
You’re right, they don’t look white-based. Fingers crossed that you can find it at Ulta.
*Canadians who don’t have Ulta crying in the distance*
This palette looks like a winner. I am loving the pink shimmers, the green and the yellows.
It s a fun palette!
Received mine yesterday afternoon, did a stunning look using every matte, plus Lemon Soda and Peach, added Sephora Fairytale Contour pencil on lower lashline and KAPOWIE! I definitely agree with everything you said about this perfect summer gem of a palette. An added plus is their CS and the love shown even in how well this was secured in the shipping box and the little card inside. I’m very impressed!
So glad you’re enjoying yours, Nancy! 🙂 A lot of new brands get CS wrong, so it’s nice to see one get it right, LOL.
Love your eye looks. I got one of the originals. I was able to swatch it but now they are so firmly pressed I can’t even get color payoff from Pink Lemonade or Blueberry Frizz. Its odd to me how no color at all will come up at this point. I just got my replacement. I agree great customer service.
Hope you enjoy your new palette, Emily!
I’ve never heard of this brand, and this particular palette wouldn’t work for me, but I’m so impressed by the customer service that I’m curious about their other products.
They are new-ish!
I don’t know what to say, my replacement came in last week and I cannot tell the difference between the old palette and the new one. I contacted customer service , They wanted pictures and I sent them in. I never heard from them again. I then sent them an email saying never mind I’ll just keep the palette and I still haven’t heard from them . I loved the Latte Palette and had her hopes for this one.
That’s too bad! Is it possible that because they asked for photos that perhaps it’s being elevated and taking a little longer to get back to you? I know that after I send photos in of broken items, maybe places take a week to approve an exchange/return. The experience I had with customer service went quite well on my end.
I guess it’s possible. I’m not sure how much they could see in the pictures anyway. I’m a subscriber of Dominique on YT and really happy for her so I guess I won’t push it. If I scrape the hard pan from the top I can use it. For the price I really shouldn’t have to though.
Oh, definitely not – you are totally in the right to send in an email if yours isn’t different from before! I just went through three different brands in the last couple of weeks with broken products and turn around 2-4 business days after receiving pictures.
It’s also a possibility that you fell through the cracks; that doesn’t mean they have bad customer service, just means their customer service people are human. Never hurts to follow up with another email if you’re congenial about it.
Now that is the way a brand should react when their initial palette is awry – take note ABH!
Beautiful summery, fun shades of excellent quality. Lovely shades and a pretty good eye look Christine.
Thank you so much, Genevieve!
I love this palette they asked me about the original and honestly the light pink on the top row didn’t have that much pigment ibut overall the rest was great.. I would of been cool without a replacement but they insisted. I don’t usually put shimmer in the tiny v but the blueberry color is so pretty there.
Happy to hear you’re enjoying your palette, Janine!
Okaaay, that’s why you had swatches up awhile back but I could never find the review! I thought I was just being incredibly dense. I was on the fence about this one but the review and that customer service just put me right over it. These colors are lovely. I’m not sure if I can pull off that bright yellow but the rest is still worth it.
Yeah, once they announced the replacement, I wanted to wait to receive it. I re-swatched but only re-uploaded swatches for shades that changed 🙂
I just love Christen. I’ve been following her for a couple of years. I have the latte palette and really like it. I wasn’t planning to get this one as I’m not really into yellows and oranges, but I really want to support her company…especially after hearing about her customer service. Maybe I’ll give it to a friend?
I’m sure the brand will release more products, so you could just sit tight 🙂
I purchased the Latte palette shortly after it became available at Ulta and have loved it. I wasn’t sure about this palette as I am not one for light colors and yellows on my eyes. I think because I hadn’t purchased this palette I didn’t hear anything about the problems but I am glad to hear that the company has taken customer service to heart. I love the eye look you did and now I want this palette. I am kind of surprised at myself, to be honest.
Happy to hear you’ve been enjoying the Latte palette!
Woaw, just because of the way they handled this issue I think I’ll lok at them more closely ! Plus thir color scheme is fun
I was so impressed!
I bought this at launch, and it was bad. I tried four shimmers, and could not get them to adhere to the lid. Each one also started getting hard pan, just from me using it. Before I even reached out to customer service, I received the email saying something had gone wrong. Received my new palette and the difference is amazing. Really impressed with the customer service! They even included a discount code for future purchases.
I’m thrilled to hear the replacement palette is significantly better for you!
I don’t think the palette is for me — several shades not likely to wear (like the bright yellow) — but I’m totally interested in the brand because of that that customer service ethic. Refreshing! I shall keep an eye out for their products now, and will try to support.
That makes sense, AB! They have a more neutral palette, the Latte palette, as well, but I’m sure we’ll see more new products from them this year.
I almost missed this review (due to being on vacation)! And so glad I caught up a little on my mail to see it. Beautiful look and you sold me on the brand now! Never had heard of them before your reviews. And since the palette is fruity and fresh (though spring is over and summer is long into play), I guess I’ll be sporting a fruit and punch look this fall. 😉
Aw, thank you, Jel! 🙂 Hope you had a lovely vacation!
I have absolutely no interest in influencer brands…. however this palette has won my heart.
Those yellows, oranges & pinks are completely up my alley… Dominique did a fantastic job curating the colors! I had the excuse that it might not be great quality-wise so I wouldn’t purchase it…
Well… can’t hold myself back anymore HAHA
Hi Christine, Have you used this palette anymore? I just bought mine today at Sephora and am hoping to have the same results as you. I am concerned because of the negative reviews on Sephora’s website. What are your thoughts?
I haven’t had any issues with mine! The second one they sent (I bought my first one, just to be clear, so the second one was a replacement as a customer!) was noticeably more yielding/forgiving on the problematic shimmers from the first palette, though my first palette didn’t seem QUITE as bad as other people experienced.
Do you happen to know if there is a way to tell the two apart? BTW, I love you soooo much and trust your reviews! Xoxo
I do not!
