Dallas Mavericks

ColourPop Dallas Mavericks 9-Pan Pressed Powder Palette ($14.00 for 0.32 oz.) is a new, limited edition palette in collaboration with the Dallas Mavericks based on the team’s colorways. The quality was decent, but the matte eyeshadows were on the powdery side, so I found an eyeshadow primer was necessary overall and that doing eyes first would be preferable due to some fallout.

The Hangar

The Hangar is a pale gray with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. The texture was more substantial, which gave it a velvety feel and better, more opaque color coverage that adhered to skin without immediately sheering out as very light mattes often can. This shade showed signs of fading after seven and a half hours on me.

Formula Overview

$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

AAC

AAC is a bright, iridescent bluish-white with cool undertones and a pearly sheen. It had semi-sheer color coverage with a more transparent base, which would work as more of a topper product, whether to highlight the inner tearduct or over a darker eyeliner/shadow. The texture was lightly emollient but a little chunkier to the touch. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Run and Gun

Run and Gun is a light-medium taupe with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was smooth, more velvety but somewhat powdery, so I’d recommend using a lighter hand and tapping off excess to manage the fallout. It had opaque color coverage that wore well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Victory Park

Victory Park is a bright, bluish-silver with cool undertones and a shiny, metallic finish. The eyeshadow had rich color payoff paired with a lightly creamy, moderately dense texture that picked up readily with a dry brush and had great adhesion to bare skin. It lasted well for eight hours before fading a bit.

Mavs

Mavs is a light, sky blue with moderate, cool undertones and a pearly sheen. It had nearly opaque color coverage that applied well to bare skin and diffused nicely along the edges without sheering out. The texture was lightly emollient, denser without being too firmly-pressed. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Pegasus City

Pegasus City is a bright, cornflower blue with strong, cool undertones and flecks of silver sparkle over a matte finish. The sparkles didn’t translate much to the lid, and there was light fallout during application of both sparkles and some of the actual blue powder as it had a fairly powdery texture. It had mostly opaque pigmentation that sheered out somewhat, so I’d use it over an eyeshadow primer to give it better hold. It wore well for seven hours before fading noticeably.

Royal

Royal is a faded, denim blue with cool undertones and a matte finish. The texture was thinner and a little powdery, which resulted in more medium color coverage that was hard to build up, even over an eyeshadow primer. It lasted decently for seven hours before fading a bit.

DAL

DAL is a deep, bluish-purple with a matte finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation that adhered fairly evenly to bare skin but had light fallout during blending. The texture was soft, smooth, and moderately powdery so using a lighter hand and building up was ideal. It wore well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

I really find the colour story of this palette interesting, and this is a very rare statement from my side nowadays, in a sea of palettes that are all the duopes of the others. Unfortunately, the quality is not impressive and Colour pop isn’t still able to offer a decent international shipping. So no story here

Blues… it seems you see them in a monochrome, possibly a mega, but most often as the ‘pop’ in a neutral or ‘sunny’ palette. With grays, seldom. If this rated better, I’d consider it. Natch, the ones that aren’t duped in stash are the worst rated. Time for another dupe the feel.
