Weekend Warrior

ColourPop Weekend Warrior Pressed Powder Shadow Palette ($18.00 for 0.20 oz.) includes four shades of powder eyeshadow–yes, powder!–the brand’s first release featuring their new formula. The pressed powder formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety” and “silky” texture that is “long-wearing.” It’s a solid formula, so I’m definitely curious to try and see more shades from them in the future but hope we’ll see a little refinement over time. The texture of their formula was soft, a little powdery, but there was substance to it–I wouldn’t say dense, but it wasn’t thin or prone to sheering out, just that there was a lot of excess product kicked up in the pan and some fallout during application. The pigmentation varied from shade to shade, though they were all buildable. I had no trouble blending out any of the four shades, and they lasted between seven and eight hours on me.

Throttle

Throttle is a light, peachy beige with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had good color coverage with a soft, smooth texture that was somewhat powdery in the pan. It did not look dry on the lid, but there was a noticeable excess amount of product kicked up in the pan. The color applied well to bare skin, blended out without sheering out, and lasted for seven hours on me.

Formula Overview

$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Harley

Harley is a muted, medium purplish taupe with cool undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque coverage with a silky, smooth consistency that wasn’t too powdery or too firm in the pan. The color applied beautifully to the lid and did not sheer out immediately, so it was easy to use it all over the lid without having to pack it on. It lasted for seven and a half hours before fading on my lids.

Burnout

Burnout is a deep, subdued teal with cool undertones and a satin-to-matte finish. There was a hint of micro-shimmer strewn through the product, but it looked like a matte finish on the lid and to my eye. It had good pigmentation, which was buildable to opaque coverage, paired with a smooth, blendable texture that was just a touch powdery. I noticed fading after eight hours of wear.

Chopper

Chopper is a dark, muted purple with more neutral undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff with a lightly powdery consistency. I had better luck applying this in sheerer layers (two to three) and building the coverage up rather than patting and packing it on the lid, as there was some fall out, even after tapping excess off the brush. This shade wore nicely for seven and a half hours.

Hmmm, not great, not horrible, but I feel like CP could’ve done better, as they make the Kylie shadows, and those swatched better for me, although those colors are easier to get right. I look forward to more powder shadows from CP!

I wish the beige shade was more on the cool side, like a MAC Vex type of shade. But, overall a cool-toned palette, very nice! I’m glad for their first powder palette it’s not the usual suspect neutrals (white, beige, tan, black).

LOVE this color combo! Actually did something using similar shades yesterday, but with a metallic mid lid using CP Koosh, with MAC Kid as transition, Copperplate in crease, CP Rhinestone in outer corner worked upwards into lower crease and lower lashline, some of the deep taupe matte in Viseart Choma to define crease more. In other words, everything but the deep taupey-purple!

I personally feel that these should of been at a lower price point to complete with what is currently on the market, especially in pan form since Mac is now on $6 for an eyeshadow pan and Inglot and Makeup Geek around around the same. I just don’t feel tempted at all by these knowing I would rather have those other brands. On the other hand if they had maybe priced themselves at $3 or $4 per pan I think they would be more desirable.

Hmm, not sure if I’m hyped for their powder shadows. Their Super Shock formula holds up amazingly on my oily lids! It’s nice to finally see a cool toned palette amidst so much peach and brown, though.

How do Harley and Chopper compare to Girl Crush and Doe-a-Deer, respectively?

GAfromCA Avatar

Thanks for the swatches. I like how you combined the colors, but they just don’t do anything for your beautiful warm green – brown eyes. However from your photos I can tell that these are perfect for my coloring – muted and cool, and the teal matches my eyes. Guess I have to get this!
