Sweet Nothings

ColourPop Sweet Nothings 12-Pan Pressed Powder Shadow Palette ($16.00 for 0.36 oz.) is a new, limited edition palette exclusively available at Ulta. There are only three shades (Canele, Tuile, and Mousse) that are new (at least, to me), while the others have been released (across various products) in the past. I think the palette is cohesive and easy to create a myriad of pink/plum-themed looks. There was a good mix of shimmers and mattes and depths. For those that don’t have similar color schemes in their stash, it’s an affordable, high-quality palette to consider.

Outta Luck

Outta Luck is a peachy beige with warm undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow was richly pigmented with a smooth, velvety texture that was somewhat powdery in the pan but had the substance necessary to adhere well to bare skin without sheering out too readily. It stayed on well for eight hours on me.

FURTHER READING: Formula Overview for details on general performance and characteristics (like scent).

Formula Overview

$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

11:11

11:11 is a medium peach with warm, orange undertones and a metallic finish. It had opaque pigmentation with a soft, more loosely-pressed consistency, so it was easy to disturb the surface–use a lighter hand–but was blendable and adhered well to bare skin so there wasn’t much fallout. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading slightly. It was actually improved against the version I tested previously!

Pretty Cruel

Pretty Cruel is a deep pink with warm undertones and flecks of fine gold pearl and random flecks of larger gold micro-sparkle over a matte finish. It looked mostly matte on my lid as a lot of the larger flecks disappeared and the finer ones weren’t noticeable. The texture was soft, a little drier than most of the brand’s mattes, but it remained blendable on my lid. The eyeshadow had rich pigmentation that stayed on well for eight hours on me.

Come and Get It

Come and Get It is a medium-dark pink with strong, more contrasting golden shimmer that gave it a more metallic finish overall. The eyeshadow had a smooth, lightly emollient texture–it felt a bit slippery to me–that yielded rich pigmentation that applied fairly well to bare skin. It wore well for just over eight hours before creasing very faintly on me.

On the Rise

On the Rise is a bright, medium purple with strong, warm pink undertones and a pearly sheen. It was richly pigmented and adhered evenly to bare skin, while the edges blended out without issue. The consistency was smooth to the touch and felt a little more silicone-like, as there was a bit of slip, but it picked up well with a brush and transferred well onto my lid. This shade lasted nicely on my lid for eight hours.

20 Something is a medium, peachy gold with strong, warmer orange undertones and a metallic finish. Upon a Star

Upon a Star is a rosy copper with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The pigmentation was fantastic with rich coverage delivered in a single layer. The consistency was smooth, lightly creamy, and denser but not too thick or heavy, so it worked well with brushes and did not needed to be used with fingertips or with a dampened brush to sing. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me before I noticed any fading.

Sparks Fly is a deep brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. Tuile

Tuile is a medium-dark mauve with subtle, cool undertones and a mostly matte finish. There was nearly imperceptible shimmer in the shade when I looked at the swatch image but not enough that I could see it in person. The color payoff was good, though it took two layers for full coverage, and it had a drier, dustier texture. It could have been a little easier to blend out but wasn’t that fussy. It wore nicely for eight hours before fading noticeably on my lid.

Mousse

Mousse is a deep brown with cool undertones and a matte finish. The pigmentation was opaque in a single layer, while the texture was slightly firmer in the pan compared to most of the brand’s eyeshadows. That helped minimize fallout and also made it easier to control so I could build up coverage if desired. This shade lasted nicely for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I snatched this up without waiting for a review, since I figured it was a pretty good risk at $11 with the coupon. Come and Get It is such a pretty color. Same with Tuile, though I did have to use a little translucent powder on my brush to get it to blend.

I may have to go and grab Redezvous, too. Those two would make a nice compact set for travel, and cheap enough that I wouldn’t cry if something happened to them.

We try to approve comments within 24 hours (and reply to them within 72 hours) but can sometimes get behind and appreciate your patience! 🙂 If you have general feedback, product review requests, off-topic questions, or need technical support, please contact us directly. Thank you for your patience!
