ColourPop Social Butterfly Palette Review & Swatches
Social Butterfly
ColourPop Social Butterfly 5-Pan Pressed Powder Palette ($10.00 for 0.15 oz.) includes three matte eyeshadows and two shimmer eyeshadows in a peach-and-blue color story. There was a good amount of contrast offered between the five shades, which was nice to see. The eyeshadows were pigmented, blendable, and longer-wearing with slight fallout being present in a couple of shades.
This palette is one of five in a holiday vault, though ColourPop said they would be available individually when I asked, but they have not appeared individually on the site. It’s not realistic for me to review it as a set (takes much longer, but I also started testing them across sets already, and the system is better setup for a palette, not five palettes within a set, for readability!), so I decided to review them individually still.

Joy Joy
Joy Joy is a light-medium peach with warmer undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had a more loosely-pressed consistency that resulted in light fallout when applied with a dry brush, but it was very sparkly and fully opaque when applied with a dampened brush. It wore well for eight hours with light fallout over time (when used dry).

Formula Overview
$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce
The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.
The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Air Crew
Air Crew is a darker, yellowy peach with warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was smooth, more velvety, and slightly dense, though still a little powdery when picked up with a fluffy brush. It had opaque color coverage in a single layer, which stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading visibly.

To the Sky
To the Sky is a deep navy blue with lighter blue and teal micro-sparkle that gave it a twinkling, metallic finish. The eyeshadow was richly pigmented with a smooth, almost cream-like texture that wasn’t overly dense but had good adhesion to bare skin. It lasted well for eight hours before fading a bit.

Fly High
Fly High is a rich, deeper navy blue with cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had opaque color payoff paired with a slightly thinner texture that was on the drier side, but it wasn’t prone to fallout and didn’t take too much additional effort to diffuse. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.

I’m not a big blue eyeshadow wearer, but other than wishing that Soar was a shimmer or metallic, this isn’t bad. To The Sky is gorgeous, though!
CP is making a big mistake, if they sell only as sets. So many people like one, but not all of the colorways. A fiver costs virtually nothing, but sets are sufficiently pricey that a customer starts to play the cost:benefit game. And it disincentives purchases. BITD Soar clones were about all I wore. With EL hyacinth sky liner. Pretty funny, but then mono is back and so, kind of, is one and done. Soar is the best iteration of that gray-blue but not periwinkle shade I’ve seen in decades.
The blues are really beautiful
CP has done the blue shades really well, although I do wish more of them were satin shades and not matte.
I really like these shades but I wish you had put together a look for us to get an idea, as these colours can be quite tricky to use!
Well done matt light blue shade, this one is difficult to get right!
This was the one I was interested in, but so far it seems only to be available in the set which bothers me too.
