Menage a Muah

Colour Pop Menage a Muah 12-Pan Pressed Powder Shadow Palette ($18.00 for 0.36 oz.) is a new, limited edition pink and mauve-themed color story that featured a mix of matte, shimmer, and glitter shades. The mattes were fairly powdery across the board–some that were more workable than others but tended to be messy enough where they had to be used over primer and eyes had to be done prior to complexion products as. One shimmer was particularly disappointing as it was quite dry and had very poor adhesion (even over primer–it had to be used wet).

Crave

Crave is a light beige with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had an incredibly powdery consistency, which resulted in a lot of fallout and a tendency for the product to sheer out when applied and blended out, even though it seemed to have opaque coverage initially. It wore decently for seven and a half hours before fading visibly.

FURTHER READING: Formula Overview for details on general performance and characteristics (like scent).

Formula Overview

$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

After Midnight

After Midnight is a medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and flecks of warmer, gold micro-sparkle over a matte finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation with a moderately powdery texture, so there was a fair amount of fallout working with it–even when being careful to tap off excess–and a tendency to sheer out. It showed signs of fading after seven and a half hours of wear.

Novel

Novel is a muted, medium-dark pink with strong, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff in a single layer, which applied evenly to bare skin and blended out well. The texture was soft, somewhat powdery but more velvety, so it wasn’t prone to sheering out too readily. It stayed on well for seven and a half hours before fading a bit.

Confess

Confess has a transparent base filled with an assortment of smaller, glitter particles that was dominated by a darker, warmer pink particle but had some other colors going on in it. It contained plastic (PET) glitter, and it came with the warning that it was not to be used around the eye area. The texture was more emollient, almost wet to the touch, so it had better adhesion than a standard, powder glitter might have had. The glitter also dispersed decently across an area, which made it easier to work with. There was noticeable migration from stray particles after seven and a half hours of wear.

It contained plastic (PET) glitter, and it came with the warning that it was not to be used around the eye area. It had semi-sheer to medium “coverage” as a result of all the glitter. The texture was more emollient, though it had good dispersion over bare skin, and was best applied using a fingertip. It lasted well for eight hours with light migration over time (I wore it as a cheek highlighter).

Miss U

Miss U is a medium-dark red with warmer, coppery undertones and a frosted finish. It had a more loosely-pressed, drier consistency, which resulted in a lot of fallout and poorer adhesion to bare skin. I’d recommend using it with a dampened brush as even fingertips did not get it to adhere very well. It had mostly opaque coverage, if one could get it to stick to the skin and not fall off! The color wore for seven hours before fading noticeably.

Formula Overview

$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing." The way the Pressed Pigments differ is that they're not intended for usage on the immediate eye area.

The majority of the shades are semi-opaque to opaque in coverage, blend out fairly well, and can sometimes be a bit drier/more powdery compared to typical matte shades. They often wear eight to nine hours on me before fading, but many shades in the Pressed Pigment family leave some staining behind.

NOTICE: All products categorized under "Pigment" carry a warning in the US that the product is "not intended for use in the immediate eye area." Brands in the US typically market these products as "Pigments" (instead of "Eyeshadow"), and there is often a warning on the back of packaging or the label. The product includes color additives that are not approved for usage on the eyes per the FDA. Some color additives in "Pigments" have no usage restrictions in the EU, per CosIng, and can be used on the eyes. We recommend checking ingredients to confirm current safety assessment/restrictions: FDA/CosIng.

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Cp palettes remind me always Huda beauty’s obsession ones. For example here removing the plastic glitter, you obtain exactly the mauve obsession (which I adore). Maybe this is not voluntary, it is simply due to the fact that mainstream brands propose the same colours all over their different releases

I am really tired of all of these eye shadow palette being released with shadows that “aren’t for use in the immediate eye area.” I feel they are being disingenuous with this and one of these companies is going to have a class action lawsuit brought against them to test this deliberate deception.
Other than that, I like the palette, but since I have Huda’s New Nudes and a couple of PMG’s rosier type palettes, I don’t see a need for this at all.

I have this pallette. I regret buying it. I look great in berry colors, but wine/burgundy is apparently not right for me. One of the darker colors has terrible fallout and makes me look like a strung out zombie after an hour. It could be the one with the D- rating, I thought it was No Drama that was practically melting off my face.
