ColourPop Chasing Rainbows Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Chasing Rainbows
Colour Pop Chasing Rainbows 15-Pan Shadow Palette ($20.00 for 0.60 oz.) is another winning eyeshadow palette from ColourPop. This is a nice mix of color, undertone, and finish that works well as a single palette but paired well with the various products released in the collection (like the Super Shock Shadows and Jelly Much Eyeshadows). I really enjoyed playing and putting together color combinations with this palette and had little difficulty using and working with the shades in it.
Wiggles
Wiggles is a medium, peachy beige with warm undertones and a matte finish. The pigmentation was nearly opaque in a single layer, while the texture was soft and velvety–denser and more substantial without being overly powdery–but it did sheer out a bit when applied to bare skin. It stayed on nicely for just over eight hours on me.

Formula Overview
$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce
The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.
The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Blurred Lines
Blurred Lines is a pale, white gold with subtle, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had good pigmentation, which was just shy of full coverage, that applied well to bare skin and blended out easily. The texture was soft without being too loosely pressed or powdery in the pan. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

So Meta
So Meta is a medium, golden yellow with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had a denser, heavier consistency that made it harder to apply evenly as the product just didn’t press and smooth out on my skin. I had better luck using it with a fingertip or with a dampened brush, which helped give it the extra glide it needed to go on evenly. It had opaque pigmentation but it just took more effort to even it out to get there. On me, it lasted well for eight hours before creasing faintly.

Feeling It
Feeling It is a burnt copper with warm, orange undertones and a matte finish. It had rich color coverage that adhered evenly to bare skin and blended out easily along the edges. The texture was soft, a smidgen powdery in the pan but easy to work with and did not have fallout. It stayed on well for eight hours on me before breaking down.

Realness is a deep, reddish-copper with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. Woke
Woke is a medium-dark pink with strong, warm undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow was intensely pigmented with a smooth, velvety texture that was a bit powdery in the pan. As long as I used a lighter hand (just by a bit) to pick up product, I didn’t experience fallout during application as the color adhered well to bare skin (instead of just sweeping right off of it). It blended out easily and lasted for just over eight hours on me.

Wish List
Wish List is a rich, reddish-coral with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had rich color payoff that applied well to bare skin with smooth, even coverage that was easy to blend along the edges for a nice gradient effect. The texture was soft to the touch without being powdery or prone to sheering out when applied to my lid. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours on me before fading a bit.

Manifest It
Manifest It is a bright, medium fuchsia pink with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. The pigmentation was fantastic with rich coverage in a single layer that applied evenly and blended out easily along the edges. It wore well for eight and a half hours and stained my skin just a smidgen at the end of the day. Note, this shade “is not intended for use in the immediate eye area.”

Formula Overview
-
The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing." The way the Pressed Pigments differ is that they're not intended for usage on the immediate eye area.
The majority of the shades are semi-opaque to opaque in coverage, blend out fairly well, and can sometimes be a bit drier/more powdery compared to typical matte shades. They often wear eight to nine hours on me before fading, but many shades in the Pressed Pigment family leave some staining behind.

Keep Cool
Keep Cool is a deep eggplant purple with warm, pink undertones and a mostly matte finish. There were very faint shimmers that I could detect in the pan and swatch close-up photos but not so much in person. The eyeshadow had a soft, velvety consistency that was denser and more substantial without being too powdery or prone to sheering out. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation that lasted well for eight and a half hours on me before fading a bit.

Not Playing
Not Playing is a medium pink with subtle, cool undertones and a frosted finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation paired with a more loosely-pressed consistency that could have used more binder or else started out pressed better, as it had some fallout when applied. I would recommend using this shade with fingertips or a dampened brush to get better payoff and application. On me, it stayed on nicely for seven and a half hours.

Lucid
Lucid is a plummy base with blue-to-purple shifting shimmer paired with a metallic sheen. The texture was incredibly soft, almost lightly creamy when it was applied to the lid, so while it seemed a bit more loosely-pressed in the pan, it went on beautifully with good adherence and even application. The pigmentation was opaque in a single layer. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me before it started to show signs of fading.

Bring It
Bring It is a rich, medium-dark blue-teal with cool undertones and a matte finish. The pigmentation was fantastic with a velvety, smooth consistency that applied well without losing its intensity. The eyeshadow blended out easily along the edges, which I was happily surprised by, though for a really blown out effect, it will take more time than a more flesh-toned shade as there’s further to go (given the contrast). This shade lasted nicely or eight and a half hours on me.

On One
On One is a deep blue with subtle, “warm” undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. The eyeshadow had rich pigmentation that applied evenly and blended out effortlessly along the edges. The consistency was soft, lightly creamy, and blendable. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours on me.

Eclipse
Eclipse is a soft, golden bronze with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had a softer, more loosely-pressed texture that applied best by pressing and patting it on, then diffusing the edges, as sweeping it on resulted in some fallout. It was richly pigmented and had a very smooth, flattering look on my lid, while wearing nicely for eight hours on me.

Prism
Prism is a deep brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. There were those very fine, almost imperceptible micro-shimmers in it that I could detect in the close-up photos but not in person. It had good color coverage that was buildable to full coverage with less than half of a layer. The texture was soft, a touch drier, but it did not appear dry on my lid and still blended out nicely. This shade lasted well for eight and a half hours before I noticed slight fading.

Truly, I did not want to want this one. But now I do. Oy vey! It’s so stinkin’ PRETTY!
(BTW, I did place my order for CR QoH’s palette around a half hour ago. So I am beyond up to my neck in palettes. And still hoping that Sephora will have Dior Volcanic available on their site before the sale ends!)
I don’t think you’ll regret CR’s Queen of Heart palette. It’s lovely! Oh, so lovely! It’s my ABH Modern Renaissance, since I don’t have that one and prefer CR’s. That said, it’s vibe is not on my list right now, too fall-like and I’ve hoped into dark, frost and winter already so the Cheers to The Beauty suits me more right now.
UUGGGGHHHH it’s so pretty and I want it but I can dupe too many of the shadows with my own collection already. Being a responsible adult is overrated.
I had to order to this, even though I could probably dupe the whole thing. It’s just so pretty and I love CP’s shadows.
I love the eye looks you did with it!
What a bright and beautiful palette this one is! Full of gorgeous shades, particularly On One – that is a standout blue shade. Fabulous rating with lots of options for eye looks.
Nice job, ColourPop!
Came back to say: that’s a gaaaaawgeous teal eye look.
Also … now I want this — I’m terribly attracted to the mattes in this palette. Didn’t I just get done answering questions about how I resist temptation, yada yada yada?
[sigh]
Alrighty, that’s it- you’ve convinced me. I neeeeed this haha <3
The palette comparison tool doesn’t show too many dupes between Chasing Rainbows and the TF Life’s a Festival palettes but looking at them side by side they really have the same vibe. However, they each have enough of a difference that it would not feel duplicative. It’s almost like they’re sisters or perhaps cousins.
I want this just for Lucid!
(No, I’m not actually getting it, I’ll have to check back in in the new year after my budget resets.)
This is absolutely beautiful, but, Colourpop has spewed out SO many releases these past few months it gets confusing as to what I want to buy and I just give up and focus on another brand.
Anyone else?
You are not alone! I still don’t have a palette by them. Actually I only have four individual colors (that I rarely use, I need to fix that). Sooooo many choices! And I know they have good quality and I could purchase their palettes for much less than many that I own, but then I feel my collection (and I call it that for a reason) would be too much like a basic, paint palette than a real panoply of shades, textures, and colors. This one is another of their palettes that I really like, but then I can dupe six of the colors, so then I think it’s not worth it.
Oooo, I’d like Prism alone though. I have a few Aubergine type colors, but no one white as deep, dark or neutral as this one. And it has the right purple, brown combo to smoke with, so I’ll have to see if it can be purchased as a single. As a matter of fact, I need to visit CP and may just create my own palette again.
