MAC Smarty Pants Girls Personality Palette Review & Swatches
Smarty Pants
MAC Smarty Pants MAC Girls Personality Palette ($41.00 for 0.28 oz.) is a new, permanent (per MAC’s website) palette that features eight eyeshadows and one cheek highlighter. The mattes in the palette were nice–softer and more blendable than MAC’s typical formula–but the shimmers were much denser, heavier, and thicker, which made them harder to use with typical eye brushes. The shimmers were more workable with a dampened brush or fingertips, so if those are part of your usual arsenal of techniques/tools, then it might be a better-performing palette for you.

Something's Fishy
Something’s Fishy is a medium gold with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had good color coverage in a single layer, though it needed a second layer for full opacity. The texture was lightly creamy, dense and a little stiffer than ideal, so I had to use a heavier hand to pick up product well with a brush. It stayed on nicely for eight hours on me before fading a bit.

Totally Obsessed
Totally Obsessed is a soft, yellow beige with warm undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had opaque pigmentation that applied well to bare skin and had a soft, velvety texture that wasn’t too powdery. It blended out easily and lasted well for eight hours on me.

Whippersnapper
Whippersnapper is a bright, medium orange-copper with strong, warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had opaque pigmentation that applied fairly evenly to bare skin, but I had to press and gently push it into place in order to even out the application due to the thicker, denser texture. I found it applied more readily with a dampened brush or fingertip with the latter doing a better job at smoothing it across the lid. It wore well for eight hours on me before creasing faintly.

Whiz Kid
Whiz Kid is a muted, medium copper with warm, rosy undertones and a sparkling finish. It had semi-sheer, buildable pigmentation; though I could only get more full coverage out of it if I used my fingertips or a dampened brush to apply. The consistency was denser and a bit drier, which made it stiffer to work with. Once I was able to get it onto my lid, the edges blended out without much work. It stayed on well for eight hours with slight fallout over time.

No Mercy
No Mercy is a bright, light-medium orange with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had good color coverage with a soft, velvety texture that was a smidgen powdery in the pan but applied evenly and smoothly to bare skin without sheering out too readily. The eyeshadow lasted nicely on my lid for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Wisecrack
Wisecrack is a soft, rosy copper with warm undertones and a sparkling, frosted finish. It had medium pigmentation in a single layer, which I could build up to full coverage if I used it with a dampened brush. The texture was denser and stiffer in the pan as it was physically thick, which made it more prone to emphasizing my lid texture, too. I was able to apply, even it out, and blend out the edges with some extra effort–not tons but for this color family, there are easier formulas to work with. It wore nicely for eight hours before creasing slightly but had some fallout over time.

Smart Aleck
Smart Aleck is a medium-dark brown with soft, warm undertones and a matte finsh. The eyeshadow was intensely pigmented with a smooth, velvety consistency that was softer and denser than most of MAC’s matte eyeshadows, but it wasn’t too powdery or prone to fallout on my lid. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours on me.

French Lesson
French Lesson is a muted, medium-dark copper with warm, red undertones and a soft, frosted finish. It had opaque pigmentation with a thicker, denser consistency that required a heavier hand to dislodge product off the surface of the pan and onto a brush, though it would apply more readily with a fingertip. It blended out fairly well and lasted for eight hours on me.

Way Fresh
Way Fresh is a soft, light gold with soft, warm yellow undertones and a pearly sheen. It had semi-sheer color coverage that was buildable to semi-opaque pigmentation if desired. The texture was smooth to the touch but thin and denser in the pan; it was not the type of texture that would swatch or work well with fingertips but did well with brushes. There was a noticeable sheen that did not emphasize my skin’s natural texture. It wore well for eight hours on me before it started to wear down.

This could have been a really lovely palette if a tad more care was taken with the glitter shades. Also Whiz Kid and Whippersnapper seem to be fairly similar.
A beautiful eye look Christine.
Looks to have decent enough quality, though not top of the line. Problem is, the shades are profoundly dupable and therefore the quality needs to to be nearly flawless, I think.
Interesting that it seems the mattes did better overall. Hard to tell the size of it, but it seems like a good basic palette for the price. Love that the outside looks like a composition notebook!
I have this and I enjoy it even though those shimmers are really bad !!
