ColourPop Butterfly Pressed Shadows Reviews & Swatches (Part 2 of 2)
What's Your Sign
ColourPop What’s Your Sign Pressed Powder Shadow ($4.50 for 0.04 oz.) is a medium, peachy beige with strong, warm yellow undertones and a matte finish. There were faint sparkles that didn’t bind with the underlying powder, so they disappeared during application. The eyeshadow had a moderately powdery texture, which made it more prone to light fallout and some sheering out. It had opaque coverage initially but had to be built up back up after blending or used over a primer to maximize coverage. This shade stayed on well for seven and a half hours before fading a bit.

Formula Overview
$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce
The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.
The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Mambo
ColourPop Mambo Pressed Powder Shadow ($4.50 for 0.04 oz.) is a medium-dark orange with subtle, warm red undertones and a mostly matte finish. The texture was soft, a little dusty in the pan, but it applied evenly to bare skin and blended out well without sheering out too easily. It had nearly opaque color payoff in one layer, which lasted nicely for eight hours before fading visibly.

It wore well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Painted Lady
ColourPop Painted Lady Pressed Powder Shadow ($4.50 for 0.04 oz.) is a light, peachy orange with warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. The eyeshadow had opaque color coverage, while the texture was more loosely-pressed so there was a bit of excess product kicked up in the pan if I wasn’t careful to use a lighter hand with the product. It applied evenly to bare skin but had light fallout during application. This shade wore nicely for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Zing
ColourPop Zing Pressed Powder Shadow ($4.50 for 0.04 oz.) is a muted, light-medium orange with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had excellent pigmentation in a single layer, which applied well to bare skin with a smooth, even layer of product that diffused easily along the edges. The texture was soft, a little powdery in the pan, but it was easy to work with and wasn’t prone to fallout. It stayed on well for eight hours before I noticed signs of fading.

Soo Good
ColourPop Soo Good Pressed Powder Shadow ($4.50 for 0.04 oz.) is a medium-dark, peachy orange with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The texture was slightly more loosely-pressed, so there was the sense of dryness by touch and some excess product that loosened from the pan when I used it, so I’d recommend using a lighter touch to minimize potential for fallout. The eyeshadow had opaque coverage when applied with a pressing/patting motion on my lid and had a touch of fallout during application. It wore well for eight hours before I noticed slight fading.

TBH
ColourPop TBH Pressed Powder Shadow ($4.50 for 0.04 oz.) is a soft, muted orange with moderate, warm undertones and a satin finish. It had rich color coverage that applied well to bare skin and blended out easily, though the texture was on the more powdery side, and I felt like it looked a bit drier over my lid than other ColourPop shades. There was a bit of excess product kicked up in the pan but the product wasn’t prone to sheering out nor was fallout a concern during application. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

The Vibez
ColourPop The Vibez Pressed Powder Shadow ($4.50 for 0.04 oz.) is a medium-dark copper with warm, brown undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. The texture was more loosely-pressed into the pan, which resulted in a product that kicked up a lot of excess in the pan and had moderate fallout during application. I would recommend applying this with fingertips or a dampened in brush, which improved the payoff from medium to mostly opaque and minimized fallout. The color wore well for eight hours but had a touch of fallout over time as well.

For me, it’s a toss up between either Painted Lady or Sooo Good. I love how reflective both are, especially for an inner lid shade or halo eye look!
The rest are just kinda ‘meh’ in that they’re just more everyday basics…. again.
Painted Lady and Soo Good are fairly similar shades, one is just a tiny bit more peachy. They are both lovely and perfect to use with lots of darker shades as a good foil.
I have In the Buff by bareMinerals, which is a dupe for Soo Good and I use it often, especially with navy eyeshadow – the peachy shades with the navy really work well together.
Who on earth thought “ICU” was a good shade name? I get what they were trying to do there, but I can’t think of anything besides “Intensive Care Unit” when I see it!
Sometimes I start to feel a sense of dupeception (dupe inception?) when I look at ColourPop shadows, because they are often duping themselves as much as any other brand. It is probably inherent in their quick-to-market business model and necessity to stay on trend, but it is also hysterical/interesting to me.
