Gecko's Tail
Clionadh Gecko’s Tail Duochrome Eyeshadow ($5.25 for 0.06 oz.) is a brighter, light-medium green with a cooler base color and warmer, contrasting gold shimmer that gave it a soft, metallic finish. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which applied well to bare skin and blended out easily without losing its intensity. It stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours before fading visibly.

Formula Overview

There do not appear to be any specific claims made for the brand's regular eyeshadow range, so being held to typical industry claims (as well as looking at the brand swatches), I'd expect rich pigmentation along with being blendable. The brand has an assortment of finishes, and the price point varies from finish to finish and has some variance within finish as well, but they tend to range from $6.00 CAD to $8.00 CAD, which converts to around $5.00 to $7.00 USD.
The more shimmery formulas were similar; they tended to be dense, lightly creamy, and blendable with excellent pigmentation and minimal chance of fallout. Some of the more sparkly shades felt more loosely-pressed while a few metallics were more emollient to the touch. They typically wore between eight and eight and a half hours on me before fading visibly (without primer).

Shroom
Clionadh Shroom Duochrome Eyeshadow ($5.25 for 0.06 oz.) has a medium, plummy-brown base with blue-to-green shifting pearl. The finish was lightly metallic but very smooth and shiny, especially when applied to bare skin. It had opaque color coverage that applied evenly to my lid and diffused well along the edges. The consistency was soft, smooth, and blendable without being too firmly nor too loosely-pressed in the pan. It lasted well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Necromancer
Clionadh Necromancer Duochrome Eyeshadow ($5.25 for 0.06 oz.) is a blackened navy blue base with lighter flecks of navy blue pearl and micro-sparkle throughout. The texture was a bit thicker and chunkier, which resulted in light fallout during application. It had nearly opaque color coverage that applied best with a dampened brush or fingertip, which helped the powder go on more smoothly and evenly. This shade showed signs of fading after eight hours of wear.

Aqua Vitae
Clionadh Aqua Vitae Duochrome Eyeshadow ($5.25 for 0.06 oz.) is a light, sky blue base with contrasting, greenish-gold shimmer that gave it a metallic finish. It was richly pigmented with a smooth, lightly creamy texture that was slightly thicker but not to the point where it gave me trouble during application. The powder applied evenly and sat smoothly on bare skin. It wore well for eight hours before creasing faintly.

Crystalline
Clionadh Crystalline Duochrome Eyeshadow ($5.25 for 0.06 oz.) is a brighter, light-medium purple–almost a darker lavender–with cooler undertones with gold and violet shimmer throughout. It had a subtle, duochrome shift from blue to violet, but the flecks of gold pearl seemed to soften it a bit.
It had intense color payoff that applied well to bare skin with a smooth, even lay down of product. The texture was lightly creamy, not too dense nor too firmly-pressed into the pan, and was easy to work with. There were signs of fading present after eight and a half hours of wear.

These are all gorgeous eyeshadows, full of rich pigmentation. Shroom and Necromancer were my favourites.
Shroom looks like my kind of brown/green duochrome, because it’s not an extreme shift, but softer.
Necromancer is a gorgeous navy metallic! I love those two a lot.
Crystalline is lovely, but I’m eyeing a different lavender from Terra Moon.
I would just love to be able to work this into a conversation “I’m wearing Gecko’s Tail and Necromancer today!” Not only do I love their shadows I love the names they’ve given them!
Haha!!
I placed my very first Clionadh order last week, for four shadow pans. One of them is Aqua Vitae, so it’s great to see a real live swatch here! I’m looking forward to playing when they arrive. When I ordered, very few items were available. I’m eagerly awaiting the restock!
