Ciate Jewelled Astrolights Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Jewelled
Ciate Jewelled Astrolights Eyeshadow Palette ($35.00 for 0.56 oz.) is a new, limited edition peach and berry-themed palette. There were four mattes and five shimmers, though I could have used a bit more contrast out of the mattes (Quartz and Phlox could be further apart in depth). The quality was good across eight of the nine shades with the only miss being Paradise, which was more of a layering/glittery top coat.

Molten
Molten is a soft, peachy oral with warm, orange undertones and a frosted sheen. The texture was soft, slightly drier to the touch, but it blended out easily without fallout. It had good pigmentation that was buildable to full coverage with a second layer or applied with a dampened brush . It wore well for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Paradise
Paradise is a pale, glittering lavender with warm undertones. It had sheer color coverage with a more loosely-pressed texture that was prone to sheering out. This shade worked best to brighten the inner tearduct or to be layered over another shade to add a glittering finish. There was a bit of fallout when applied without a primer, and I would recommend using it with an adhesive spray or primer to minimize fallout over time, as there was a noticeable amount after eight hours of wear.

Mood
Mood is a light-medium lavender with subtle, warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had good pigmentation that was buildable with less than half of a layer on top. The consistency was soft and blendable with an airiness to it that kept it from feeling dry but didn’t give it a real firmness/denseness either. It lasted well for eight hours on me before I noticed any fading.

Glisten
Glisten is a soft, medium-dark peach with warm udnertones and a metallic sheen. The pigmentation was opaque, while the eyeshadow had a soft, more loosely-pressed feel (almost airy, as it wasn’t powdery) that applied well to bare skin and “melted” after a few minutes giving a very smooth, seamless effect on my skin. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading a bit.

Orchid
Orchid is a medium-dark, reddened plum with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had rich color payoff that adhered evenly and smoothly to bare skin. The texture was soft, smooth, and slightly firmer compared to other shades in the palette, though it wasn’t stiff or difficult to work with. It lasted well for eight hours before it started to wear down.

Aura
Aura is a soft, peachy-pink with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had a soft, velvety texture that was a smidgen powdery in the pan, but it had the needed substance to go on well on bare skin without sheering out too readily. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that stayed on well for seven and a half hours on me.

Quartz
Quartz is a bright, medium berry with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had opaque pigmentation in a single layer that adhered evenly and smoothly to bare skin. The texture was soft, velvety, and finely-milled without being powdery on my lid, though it soft enough that I would recommend using a lighter hand with it to avoid excess product kicked up in the pan. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading slightly.

Last year, it was orange, gold and copper. This seems to be the year of pinks and berries. I like this one, but I doubt that I will be buying it. Instead, I’m just going to sit tight and wait for your review of Huda New Nudes, as those look to be more my type of pinky shades.
Yes, on Huda…I’m sooo enjoying it. It’s more purplish than this palette, so I think you’d like it based on your past comments.
Down, girl. Sit. Stay. Afraid I like it.
LOL!
Those lavender shades really make the palette.
I think this color combination is really pretty.
There seem to be quite a few shades in this palette that are almost dupes of each other (Glisten and Molten, Mood and Paradise and Quartz and Phlox) A few different shades are needed to provide more versatiity to this palette. It also seems fairly similar to the one we saw the other day too.
Looks like another version of desert dusk. I had bought this one at Sephora but returned it as it was quite small
Surprised to hear it was too small! Each shade is ~0.06 oz., which is larger than standard (UD, MAC, ABH).
Haha gosh, well I guess it was just the look of it then!
The cooler lavenders really save this palette from being written off as “another warm toned palette”. I think this looks great and I might pick it up!
I’ve been hoping you would review this! If this is still available when Sephora does their “giftcards” at the end of the year (e.g. $25 off $50+ purchase) then this might be what I use the giftcard towards.
Wow, that eye look is awesome with your hair color! I also love the lip color.
Thanks!
I mentally imagine this with a navy instead of the rust (bijou) and suddenly it’s a lot more interesting.
I don’t have anything by this brand, but this could possibly see it’s way my way if I have few dupes. 😉
Thanks for the review! Ciate doesn’t get enough attention in my opinion. Don’t know if I will buy this one. Can you please review the new colourpop holiday collection, the gingerbread spice palette, and the tarte holiday collections/sets, as well as the ciate glitter storm palette. Thanks for all your hard work and reviews!
Hi Serena,
I reviewed the Gingerbread Spice palette awhile ago. I don’t have the Ciate or Tarte palettes, sorry!
This is gorgeous on you. Quick question, I know yo usually list what is on your face, but I need to know what is that highlighter???? Thanks so much!
