Chanel Rouge Feu & Rouge Vie Rouge Allure Velvets Reviews & Swatches
Rouge Feu (57)
Chanel Rouge Feu (57) Rouge Allure Velvet ($38.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a brighter, medium-dark orange with moderate, warm (redder) undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had nearly opaque color coverage that adhered evenly to my lips and didn’t seem prone to catching on my natural lip texture, though it wasn’t as flattering as some of the best shades in the formula have been.
The consistency felt smooth, lightweight, and wasn’t slippery–it glided on readily but didn’t have that “wet” feel that traditional lipsticks have had, so it did look and feel more velvety. It wore well for five hours and felt lightly moisturizing while worn.

Formula Overview

The Rouge Allure Velvet formula is supposed to be a "non-drying matte lipstick" with "intensely rich, long-wearing colour" and has a "velvet matte finish." Over time, I felt like the formula has improved and is actually non-drying (the original launch did not wear well on me) to lightly drying (seen more in shades that have lasted six to eight hours). The pigmentation varies from shade to shade but is usually semi-opaque to opaque with a semi-matte to satin finish. The texture had a velvety, glide-on feel that doesn't feel particularly creamy or wet, yet the lipstick is comfortable to wear over the four to six hours it typically lasts for. Like most Chanel lip products, they have a rosy scent but no discernible taste.

PPermanent. $45.00.
Rouge Vie (58)
Chanel Rouge Vie (58) Rouge Allure Velvet ($38.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium-dark plum with moderate, warm undertones and a satin finish. It had rich pigmentation in a single stroke, which had a smooth, more velvety-creamy feel that wasn’t too slippery but didn’t feel too silicone-heavy.
The latter was why I felt it applied better and was more forgiving of lip texture/lip lines. The color lasted well for five and a half hours and felt lightly hydrating over time.

I have and love Rouge Vie. It’s a favorite during autumn and winter for me… except for this year. I’d wear it, but for masks, I cannot. Next year, I hope I can again.
Classics that look beautiful on you.
Rouge Feu is a little too orangey for me, but the plum shade of Rouge Vie looks perfect.
