Chanel Ardente & Independante Rouge Allure Lip Colours Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Ardente (175)
Chanel Ardente (175) Rouge Allure Luminous Lip Colour ($37.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a bright, medium orange-red with warm undertones and a satin finish. The Rouge Allure Luminous Lip Color formula is supposed to have “intense” coverage with long-wear and a satin finish. This shade had nearly opaque color coverage that applied smoothly and evenly. The texture was thin but very, very smooth and lightweight on the lips without being clingy. This shade lasted for five hours, stained my lips moderately, and was slightly hydrating over time.

Formula Overview
$45.00/0.12 oz. - $375.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have a "satin finish" with "ultra-thin pigments" that yield "full coverage" while also having a moisturizing base. Most shades in the range have a satin to luminous finish--not glossy but they have a luminosity to them that gives the appearance of lighter-weight color and smoother, fuller lips that a true satin finish doesn't have (in my experience).
The texture has a more velvety feel--smooth with great glide but not a lot of wetness, so they go on comfortably but feel very lightweight and thin but don't emphasize lip lines/lip texture. The coverage tends to be more semi-opaque to opaque, so they aren't always living up to the "full coverage" claim.
Most shades wear four hours or longer with some of the deeper and richer hues lasting six hours or more, and the formula has been hydrating for me. They have a subtle, floral scent but no discernible taste.

Independante (176)
Chanel Independante (176) Rouge Allure Luminous Lip Colour ($37.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium red with subtle, cool undertones and a seatin finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage that went on evenly and did not tug or pull ont he lips. While the consistency was thin on the lips and nearly weightless, it didn’t feel clingy or drying over time. The lipstick was smooth, creamy without being emollient, and was comfortable to wear for the six hours this shade lasted for.

Chanel always does nice reds
That they do 😀
My thought exactly, followed by …as does bite and besame. And some UDs are smashing, also. EL does some decent ones, too. Glad I like it, bec there are so many great choices.
Both are gorgeous shades of lipstick! I especially love how Ardente looks on, as it has a touch of orange, but not Lady Danger level of vivid, in-your-face intensity, though. I really like that one! ?
Sometimes I forget just how smooth Chanel’s Rouge Allure formula is – they seem so thin initially but look great on.
Those lipsticks are just perfectly gorgeous shades that can be worn day or night. Beautiful.
They would be great for an evening out!
Beautiful shade!! CHANEL always knows how to impress!
They did a good job with these!
Nice reds!
Agreed!
These are pretty perfect lipsticks, very wearable reds.
There’s something about the finish that helps them be more “wearable,” I think!
Simply classic. And fab on you.
Christine, you look simply radiant in the picture featuring Chanel Independent lipstick. I just love how cohesive the eye and cheek makeup and lipsticks are together. This is sizing up to being another solid collection by Chanel.
Ardente looks lovely! If I’m wearing red (which doesn’t happen too often, to be honest) this is the kind of red I go for.
Christine I really like Chanel Ardente it looks beautiful on you. The only lipsticks I am buying lately is Givenchy nothing beats their formula for me and they have so many shades to pick from.
Both gorgeous reds I must admit.
I have the Bite dupe for Ardente and I really like Independante. I might need that one. We’ll see. There is a typo on the word satin I think for Independante.
Love your EOTD Christine!
Do you plan on reviewing the Dior Star Foundation? I’ve seen you wearing it recently & am very curious about it. I got a sample (thank goodness for samples) of the MUFE foundation and it instantly made my face so itchy I wanted to die. I also had the same immediate itch crazed reaction (different day) to Darphin’s INTRAL moisturizer. I was so bummed because I had done quite a bit of research about Darphin. The INTRAL line is for sensitive skin/Roscea. I did fine with the serum, but I don’t want to mix different brands as I’m nervous that the ingredients may not mix well. Luckily I didn’t have any rashes (crosses fingers) from either the MUFE & Darphin items.
Point is, I’m on the hunt for a foundation that will even out my skintone and help cover up the redness.
Any help or suggestions about skincare for highly reactive skin with Roscea & all its many gifts, as well as foundation suggestions that help even out skintones, cover redness, etc. (l don’t need a full coverage fondation) would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
I don’t write too many foundation reviews, so I really don’t know if or when I would review it. I’m so sorry! If you are highly reactive, I’d say look at the ingredients list for it (and any other foundations) over everything else! It seems like it’s going to require trying to figure out what it is that is bothersome via ingredient(s).
My skin doesn’t really react poorly to much – like I can’t even remember the last time something broke me out even! The Star foundation has fragrance in it, and it does have a lot of silicones in it. It also uses both chemical and physical sunscreens, so it’s just hard to say if it would react n your skin or not.
