Bobbi Brown Bobbi to Glow Shimmer Brick Trio Review, Photos, Swatches
Bobbi Brown Bobbi to Glow Shimmer Brick Palette
Bobbi Brown Bobbi to Glow Shimmer Brick Palette ($69.00 for 0.52 oz.) includes three Shimmer Bricks, which are very shimmery powders. Each Shimmer Brick has five shades, so the color that you get can vary depending on where you concentrate your brush. All three shades have been released before, though only Bronze is part of the permanent range from what I could tell! It’s a powder highlight that features five colors, which are designed to be used together (though you can concentrate your brush in areas as well, or if you have an eye brush, you can use them individually) and applied to the face to highlight.
The three included in the palette all highlight the skin and add noticeable color on my light-medium complexion, so they be even more blush-like on fairer complexion and will likely show up on deeper skin tones with subtler tints. The texture of Gold and Bronze was smoother and more finely-milled with less overt sparkle, whereas Wild Rose was drier and seemed to have larger chunks of sparkle, which were more prone to emphasizing the skin’s natural texture. They were easy to apply, wore for about eight hours, and are well-worth a look for someone who likes a more intense, noticeable highlight. They’re the type of highlighter where a little can go a long way to adding luminosity, so they can definitely be too intense for some people’s preferences.

Gold is a light-medium gold with warm, yellow undertones paired with a frosted, lightly metallic finish. It had good pigmentation with a soft, smooth texture that blended out easily on the skin. I did not find that it emphasized my skin’s natural texture, but it does have a strong sheen to its finish. This shade wore well for eight hours before starting to fade. Bronze is a medium-dark, coppery brown with warm, reddish undertones and a softer, light-medium golden bronze shimmer. The pigmentation was rich, but the texture was soft and blendable, so it could easily be applied in sheerer layers or diffused for less intense coverage if desired–a little did go a long way, though, and I’d recommend using a lighter hand initially. On me, the powder lasted eight hours before fading. ColourPop Glo Up (LE, $8.00) is lighter (95% similar). Anastasia Bronzed (LE, ) is warmer (95% similar). ColourPop Candyman (P, $10.00) is darker (95% similar). rms beauty Madeira Bronzer (P, $38.00) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (95% similar). Wild Rose is a slightly muted, medium-dark pink with warm undertones and cooler, frosty pink shimmer. The shimmer particles in this shade seemed larger with both finer and more obvious flecks of sparkle used, which gave it a bit of a drier, looser consistency that was sheerer in coverage. The texture and shimmer in this one did emphasize my pores a bit, making them seem larger than they were. I didn’t have any trouble blending out the color, though, and it still wore for eight hours like the other two. Makeup Revolution Peach Kiss (P, $9.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Wet 'n' Wild Halo Gorgeous (P, $5.99) is lighter (95% similar). Anastasia Sassy Grape (LE, ) is more shimmery, lighter, brighter (95% similar). Makeup Geek Starlight (LE, $20.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Make Up For Ever 10 Peach (P, $21.00) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler (90% similar). Sigh… mine is arriving tomorrow. I hope it works out but if it’s too glittery it’s going back ?
Fingers crossed you like it, Julia!
I owe one BB shimmerbrick, Nude Glow, when they were made as a quad. I use 3 of the 4 to get a bronzy blush glow and quite like it. I have always thought of shimmerbrick as blush/highlighter hybrids. I prefer BB’s Brightening Bricks (Coral, specifically), mostly due to a texture issue. Glad to see a good value for money combo palette.
I gave my sister-in-law BB’s Rose Shimmerbrick and my 14 year old niece commented that it would make her mom “look pretty”…out of the mouth of babes. ?
Haha! 😉
Yes, I think they are more like a highlighting blush than straight-up highlighter, but it’ll depend on one skin tone – kind of the same most multi-colored highlighter ranges (like Becca Topaz isn’t a highlighter on fair skin but can be a highlighter on very deep skin).
I definitely don’t need this and probably wouldn’t even use it if I had it, (I don’t tend like the way shimmery stuff sits on my skin) but this looks so pretty I’m almost tempted!
Hopefully you can resist, because if you don’t like shimmery, totally the wrong palette for you, I swear it 🙂
Wow Bobbi Brown finally caught on to the blush palette craze. I’m surprised they didn’t release these earlier, their shimmer bricks are so pretty!
Same here! I’m glad it finally came out, because it’s nice to have at least a couple of things that aren’t subpar this season.
I wish I could buy Gold as a single. I know many people are going to find it way too yellow, but I’ve found out that a lot of yellow gold highlighters don’t show up well on me, as my yellow undertones can absorb ridiculous amounts of yellow–it’s like putting white on white, can’t see anything! So I need something really yellow for it show up as yellow gold. But I do have the dupe Prosecco, and it’s gorgeous, so I will be fine. And I have dupes for the other two, but I feel like there’s way too much product in this one. Given you only need a little bit of product, but EACH pan is .40 oz, this would probably last me like 2 lifetimes. And $ 69 is a lot. I think it would’ve been better if they had done 1/2 the size at 1/2 the price.
It was released once upon a time, but the permanent range is pretty edited at the moment.
I’ve been a fan of the Shimmer Bricks for many years, so I’m glad to see that Bobbi Brown is finally promoting them again. I was wondering why they weren’t in these times of highlighter frenzy! Unfortunately I already own Bronze so it takes down the value of this palette for me. And like you said, I haven’t made a dent in it despite using it regularly and owning for at least 8 years!
It is strange, isn’t it?! The Shimmer Bricks are some of the first that came to mind for an OTT highlighter, LOL.
I saw this and swatched it in Sephora during the promo day a few weeks ago. You know, I like makeup a lot, but I have to say this product not only had no allure for me, but it kind of confuses me. I mean I “know” what it’s for, but how in heaven’s name would I ever shimmer myself to that degree if I tried to the end of my days?! 🙂 I like to get product I at least think I might finish — even if that finish line is “someday.”
Lots of product, options are endless, it’s swatched fine, but it’s not something I think I would reach for except for the gold part, maybe, on occasion. It’s a beautiful world when one woman’s “meh” is another’s treasure trove.
Even the full-size versions are massive – they used to mention that they could be used on eyes (sort of as a “oh, you can also do this”) but saw no mention of it presently.
Is this coming to Australia Christine? I need it!
I won’t lie, this one is incredibly tempting. Could certainly see myself rocking all 3 shades, and quite nicely. It will come down to this one vs. the Laura Mercier highlighter quad.
I like the brick mosaic and the chosen shades are lovely. However I feel that it is a tad too glittery for most, certainly for me.
Thank you once again for your indepth review and for showing all the separate shades Christine.
Pretty but I already own Bronze and Platinum Pink shimmer bricks . And they look brand new, lol.
Said it before, I love the look of the shimmer bricks but with my skin I just can’t wear them. Way too much shimmer. Just doesn’t look flattering.
There is no doubt that Bobbi Brown is an awesome Brand But unfortunately this is not available in India. One of my friend living in US recommended this to me. And She is sending this beautiful products to me. After reading this Detailed article I am eagerly waiting for this product.
Thank you for sharing this article with us.
Pretty!
I have probably said this already, but these look so delectable! I don’t know how much use I would get out of them, but I almost want to buy them regardless.
I got it! I’m so obsessed
Yay!
this is what I got….
Cost of full-size: $46.00 for 0.40 oz., $115.00/oz.
Cost of palette: $69.00 for 0.52 oz., $132.69/oz.
Value: $59.80
Thank you, Viv! So sorry I was too stupid to read the back of the box and relied on Sephora for that info! I updated it after seeing your comment but am again, failing at a lot of things lately, slow to reply to comments. Thank you again!
Thanks Christine, no need to be sorry. Thank you for all the detail reviews, they really help me in determining what to purchase. 🙂
Christine, just FYI, the cost per ounce of the palette is wrong. It should be $132 instead, so a little pricier per ounce than the singles.
I updated the post about a week ago – clear your cache if this isn’t working! I believe the value comes out to $59.80.
