Bite Beauty Éclair, Chutney, Purée Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Éclair
Bite Beauty Éclair Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick ($24.00 for 0.25 fl. oz.) is a brighter, medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and a cream finish. It was richly pigmented with a creamy, lightweight texture was smooth, lightly tacky, and easy to spread across the lips for even coverage. I had just the slightest amount of product settle into my deeper lip lines but the shine helped to minimize the appearance from a normal viewing distance. It wore well for five hours and was moisturizing while worn.
The Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick is supposed to be “moisture-rich, high-pigment” in a “liquified” consistency that has a “creamy, comfortable application.” It’s a lightweight, fluid consistency that was neither runny nor thick on the lips. It does not dry down and feels mostly like a liquid-form of a lipstick (and not so much like a gloss). The majority of the range was incredibly pigmented and spread evenly across the lips. Some shades had a bit of color that sat in my lip lines, which was noticeable from a normal viewing distance with a few but not all. It had a lightly tacky feel on the lips, which helped to adhere as none of the shades I have tested have feathered on me. The formula was lightly hydrating, wore for four to seven hours, and had a light, herbal, lemony scent but no discernible taste.
If you’ve been following Bite for awhile, you might remember the Cashmere Lip Creams from a few years ago, which were also a liquid formula. Unfortunately, I had a couple leak on me and ended up tossing all of them out of fear, so I couldn’t do a true comparison, but from my memory, it was slightly thicker and less tacky while both had a more natural shine after initial application.

Chutney
Bite Beauty Chutney Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick ($24.00 for 0.25 fl. oz.) is a muted, medium rosy mauve with subtle, warm undertones and a cream finish. The consistency was smooth, fluid but not too thick or too thin, and still quite lightweight on the lips with a touch of tackiness that helped keep it in place–no feathering on me. It had opaque color coverage that applied evenly and lasted for five hours. The formula was comfortable to wear and hydrating. The only issue I had was that it seemed to emphasize my lip lines a bit due to a bit of settling (though it wasn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance.)

Purée
Bite Beauty Purée Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick ($24.00 for 0.25 fl. oz.) is a rich, coppery red with warm undertones and a cream finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that spread evenly across the lips without streaking. There was a slight amount of lipstick that welled in my lip lines, though the shiny finish and richer color made it less apparent in person. The consistency was lightweight, comfortable to wear, and lightly tacky. It lasted for five hours and was hydrating over time.

Really like purée. Marlene is more of a straight up orange red on me…none of the brickiness shows. And Chili died, I think. Will have to get on this one soon. Can’t think of a single puréed food this color, so find the name odd. Who cares? All three are lovely. Glad bite has another success.
I wonder what inspired the name then…
Éclair and Chutney are on my wishlist for sure now. 😉
Woohoo 🙂
All of these shades are beautiful on you!
Thank you, Pixie!
Chutney is beautiful.
It is!
I am glad these scored well. I’ve not been a fan of liquid lipsticks so, as I said, I was hoping these would be good and it seems they’ll be my next foray into this type of lip product. Just have to wait for your review of more colours, Christine (the swatches on the Sephora site are beyond abysmal).
These are definitely more like a traditional lipstick (in feel) than the matte, liquid lipsticks that have the full dry down/transfer-resistant finish!
Eclair and Chutney really make nice everyday shades!
Agreed!
Chutney and Puree are very pretty. I do however like Puree’s dupe, Mac Chili better 🙂
Chili is a nice lipstick!
All 3 super nice, especially Chutney.
They are gorgeous shades!
Ooh…tough choice! I am loving Chutney, however, a longtime WL item is Hourglass Activist. Decisions can be a pain in the tush!
Pureé is a lovely shade as well!
So many good options 🙂
I don’t know if you’ve answered this anywhere (I looked and couldn’t find that you had), but are these similar in formula to the Nars Velvet Lip Glides? I was really interested in those but then Nars went and gave up its cruelty free status so I’m on the hunt for formula dupes. Even if they aren’t this formula seems great, I definitely want to try it!
Velvet Lip Glides feel more like a gloss than a lipstick, whereas these feel a lot like a lipstick… just in a more liquid form!
Understood! Thank you so much, Christine 🙂
So far everyone’s been raving about their formula so I’m keen to give this a go!
Let us know your thoughts when you’ve had a chance to try it!
Oooh, Chutney is pretty! And Puree is pretty, will need to swatch in person to see if I can pull it off
Keep me posted, Katherine!
Love love love Chutney. I knew I would from just the color of the outside packaging. It’s definitely my usual fare: almost every single dupe is on my wishlist and I already own Red Queen and Twig… I’m not seeing any perfect 100% dupes that I own so this one may find it’s way into my shopping cart, since I’m so curious to try this formula.
I do love the Hourglass formula and Activist is on my wishlist too… Decisions decisions!
Please don’t post this if you don’t want to, but your use of the adjective “brighter” is not only incorrect, but also tells me nothing about the shade of the product you’re describing. “Brighter” is a comparative adjective, meaning noun it describes needs a comparison. If you wrote “this lipstick is brighter than that lipstick,” it would be helpful. Without a comparison, it’s useless. It’s like using “brightened,” which is a verb (“the lipstick brightened”–what, it got lighter? It would be meaningful if the shade lightened on your lips with wear, but otherwise, it doesn’t work) and will mean something different to everyone who reads it, despite the photos (which appear different on different devices and even different browsers). I know you strive to write accurate reviews, and I think eliminating these words will make your reviews much more so. Instead of “brighter” or “brightened,” you can use “vivid,” “strong,” “bold” or “vibrant,” which are generally very accurate when describing shades, particularly for the lips. If you’re not receptive to this, please just delete and forget it. However, I hope you’ll consider using more accurate adjectives in your descriptions.
Thanks for the feedback!
