This is the limited edition shade released for August, which is (was?) still available when I started writing the review. Every month, I keep hoping Bite will release something really unique or more interesting, but this shade ended up being fairly dupable. I like Bite’s Creme Deluxe formula, but for hydration, I prefere their Luminous Creme formula. The Creme Deluxe formula can be more satin-like in finish with less of a glossy sheen with a thinner consistency overall. This month’s shade had rich, opaque color coverage that applied evenly and smoothly without tugging on the lips. It wore well for six hours and was neither drying nor hydrating over time.

I got this, and I really do love it, but now that I’m seeing all the dupes, I’m wondering if it’s worth keeping at this price point. The formula is lovely, but again I’m not sure it’s “ground breaking,” especially since I’m more a matte finish fan in general.

I bought this after hesitating upon reading the description thinking “I have tons of brightened oranges and do not need more”. I was pleasantly surprised when I received mine yesterday. Mine isn’t as quite as bright as it appears on my screen on you for some odd reason. Maybe because my lips are naturally a little deeper. I like it . It’ isn’t very unique- I agree. I think they need to pick it up in that dept. I like this one though because I think it can be taken into fall with a red liner or just by mixing it with another red lipstick. I only have a couple of the minis from the Luminous Crème Formula. I think I need to check those out. But, my Sephora doesn’t carry the full line of Bite. That will give me a reason to play with the new swatch gallery! 😀

I really thought they were going to do more unique shades, since it’s a monthly thing, you know? It’s not a bad line, but I don’t know that they’re as special as Bite wants them to be.

It does seem really well balanced between red and orange, though, so they nailed that!

Nicole Avatar

Yeah, I understand. I don’t think they are unique in any regards either as far as shade. I think they should just add them as a permanent range and drop the price a little. They probably would wind up making more money in the long run because it’s a really nice quality lipstick line IMO. Maybe ,in just a fool for buying them. Lol. I really wasn’t exposed to BITE prior to your blog. So , I missed when Luminous creme launched.

It’s a gorgeous orange and so glad it got an A, but it is very easily dupe-able. My birthday is next month, so I’m really hoping they come out with some unique shade. Hey BITE, how about a violet purple with an opal sheen? Or surprise me 🙂

I love my Lady Danger but yeah, I’m kind of bored of this type of color (personally). It seems, idk, odd to me that the shtick is you have to grab it immediately, sight unseen, but then they’re delivering such a dupable color that everyone almost certainly has already. Judging by this pattern I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything and I’m very unlikely to buy any subsequent ones. Obviously that’s just me and this is just a marketing gimmick, but I don’t feel like they’re truly delivering a product that’s worthy of the customers. Like this is the definition of pure hype. (Compared to, say, the Lips and Boys collection that actually had some fantastic and unique colors). Idk if that makes sense?

Christine Avatar

I totally get what you’re saying, Ginny! Between the price increase and that most (I think only one or two of the eight released so far were slightly more unique) are pretty dupable, it doesn’t seem like you’re missing out if you decide to pass or it sells out.

This is insanely gorgeous on you 🙂

Christine,
It would be cool if you had a score for originality of product or colour…not sure if any products would get a high score as most are usually dupable!

#008 Sweet Mandarin is a beauty! However, with so many dupes listed, apparently not all that original. Thankfully, I already have Morange which I think looks just as awesome on.

I just noticed readers can now also leave reviews. Woah! The improvements you made are fantastic! The only thing I’m having a hard time getting used too is the background color, I feel like this much white/light grey makes it a bit harder to read because it all blends together.

Ashleigh Avatar

I was all excited that one of these didn’t instantly sell out online, and that it was a color I like… but then I realized that they’re priced so much higher than the normal line and decided it wasn’t worth more than a YSL lippie or a NARS audacious lippie when they have perfectly good options in their regular lineup!

Hey not sure if this is intentional or a known bug – just letting you know that in the Make Up Look segment on the top right hand corner you have “on lips” as OCC Hollywood.
