Coloring: Under my name. Green eyes, s&p hair
Favorite Look: I did a very soft eye look to go with a very bright lip shade. EYES—Primed with MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre and set with Urban Decay Foxy eyeshadow. MAC single shades (Kid as transition shade, Haux on crease and outer V, Grain on lid), Marc Jacobs Highliner in Blacquer in upper lashline, Lancome Definicils mascara.
FACE—Estée Lauder Double Wear Makeup in Ecru, Lancôme Effacernes Waterproof Concealer in Light Buff, Clinique Berry Pop Blush, RCMA No Color Powder.
LIPS—MAC Show Orchid lipstick
Most Used Products: Colourpop Precision Brow Colour, MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre set with Urban Decay Foxy eyeshadow, Estée Lauder Double Wear Makeup, Lancôme Effacernes Waterproof Concealer, RCMA No Color Powder.
Beauty Discovery: Nothing this week.
Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name.
Favorite look from the week: I used the Viseart Rose Edit palette a couple of times this week and like the second look I did. I used my usual base products: Australian Gold 50 SPF, MAC Fix+, Dior Forever Glow Foundation in 2N, Cle de Peau and Lancome Effercenes Concealer, Buxom Wanderlust Blush in Seychelles, Becca Pearl Highlighter and buffed it all in with Guerlain Meteorites in shade 02 Claire. For the eyes I used NYX Waterproof primer and started by using shade 4 over the entire lid to set down the primer. I then went in with shade 6 for my transition, shade 7 over the mobile lid with shade 4 over that and finally shade 9 to deepen the crease. I had to pull in a brow bone highlight and I used the creme shade from the Pony Glam palette.I tightlined with MJ Blaquer. I used Becca Opal as my inner corner highlight. I did my brows with the MAC Brow Pen in Fling and finished with Buxom Waterproof Mascara. For my lips, I primed with MAC Prep and Prime for lips and UD Ozone lip liner. I lined with Charlotte Tilbury in Iconic Nude and used MAC Orange (the free lipstick from National Lipstick Day, at least what they were giving out in Spokane, WA. It wasn’t NLD but they had extra and gave me one). This is not a shade i would ever choose to wear as it is too white based, too shear and too slippy. Having said that, I liked how it looked with this particular eye and cheek. I didn’t like the performance at all. It immediately settled into lip lines and slipped outside my lip margins even though I used both a wax lip pencil and the MAC Prep and Prime for lips. Midway through the day I took it off and just reapplied the lip liner.
Your most used product this week: My Buxom mascara. I did a couple no makeup/makeup looks this week and used just the mascara on my eyes. I am liking the formula and find that it really fans my lashes out and gives me good volume. I wish it were a little more lengthening. I have been enjoying the more fanned out lash versus the clumpy lash that I use to love. I haven’t had any issues with raccoon eyes or smearing which has been a chronic problem my entire makeup using life and settled on Cover Girl Super Sizer more years ago than I care to count and I would try other mascara’s but always went back to the CG. I am wanting to try the TF Badass mascara since Allana raves about it but besides being obscenely overpriced, it doesn’t have all that great of reviews on Sephora. I think like an average of 3 stars. I had been on a many-masara-a-day train for the past couple of years and may have to rejoin in order to get both volume and length.
Any beauty discoveries (new or old): I had stopped using my Sunday Riley Good Genes about a year ago in favor of trying other products. I tried a ton of them but most notably, DE and Algenist Bi Phase Peel which is what I have been using for the last 3-4 months. I wasn’t happy with my skin and decided to go back to the Sunday Riley. I am so happy that I did as I can see my skin improving, slightly. I have found in the past when you stop a product you love and then go back, sometimes it just doesn’t work as well. I am thankful that doesn’t appear to be the case with GG. I read an article quite some time ago and it was comparing GG to many other products, like about 20, and the outcome was that while many have almost the same ingredients, there is something about GG that just makes it work better. I don’t love the scent but if it will get my skin back to wear I was or at least improve, I will be happy.
Your skin tone/coloring: By my name (blue-green eyes).
Favorite look from the week: The one I did using ColourPop Strawberry Shake! Eyes: MAC Orb browbone, CP Paper Straw transition, CP Shake It Up crease, CP Berry Fine lid and inner lower lashline, UD X inner tearducts, UD Dive Bar e/s outer 2/3 lower lashline, MAC Blacktrack Fluidline for upper lashline wing, Sephora Purple Stilettos and My Boyfriend’s Jeans ombre on lower lashline. Cheeks: CP Wallaby Blush Stix as my highlighter (?), UD Jawbone bronzer and X-rated blush to add pigment to cheeks to help out poor Wallaby! Lips: CP Faded Lippie Stix blotted with PMG Heavy Petal LUST Gloss on top.
Your most used product this week: Mixing my MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation in NC41 with a little Lumene BB cream seems to help with making my large pores less obvious. Also, I realized that I totally confused Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof with the much nicer looking on Studio Sculpt when I bought it. I’m not sure how I did this, but I did. I do like Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation, but it seems to be drying my skin out a bit, plus it is more apt to emphasize pores and deeper expression lines than Studio Sculpt ever did. ?♀️
Any beauty discoveries (new or old) See last question! Oh, and that I will probably NEVER order anything from Ace Beauté again. It took 2 weeks to arrive, cannot return it or exchange it either, and the mattes are a serious pain to apply and try to blend out! Oceanic Palette is a half bust. The shimmers aren’t so bad. I looked worse than Mimi from Drew Carey yesterday! ?
Oh, no! The mates in my Oceanic Palette are soft and blendable, if a bit powdery. Two weeks to ship is ridiculous. Did you try contacting their CS to see whether they’re willing to send you one of their other palettes, or something?
*mattes, not mates.
I did send them an email last Monday, Rachel. And then it very suddenly showed that it had arrived at the USPS facility for shipment! The mattes are weird. Soft, buttery, but they stick and won’t let me blow them up and out, at least not the lighter, more vivid mattes. The deep mattes do blend easier than those. I will try it again using the pale minty greens from Huda Emerald underneath Fiji, the worst offender, before I throw in the towel.
That’s is very weird. I haven’t encountered the blending issues at all. Maybe Ace hasQC issues. I don’t blame you for being frustrated.
Nancy T, your eye look sounds so interesting! I have most of those products and dupes for the ones I don’t, so I’m going to try it out.
Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name; magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes.
Favorite look from the week: EYES — Pinky-lavender NYX
Prismatic Shadow on lid. Smashbox Covershot Palette in Ultra Violet: Matte lavender in crease, matte dark violet in deep crease and outer V, pale lavender shimmer on the brow bone, and matte indigo smudged over UD 24/7 Eye Pencil in Goddess on lower lashline and outer half of the upper lashline. ABH Moon Child HL in Purple Horseshoe on the inner corner. NYX Slim Line Pencil in Black on upper and lower waterline. UD Perversion Mascara. LIPS. — Geek Chic Lip Zazz Liquid Lipstick in Bio-Exorcist. CHEEKS — Milani Rose Powder Blush in Romantic Rose mixed with a touch of MAC Blush in Undercover Heroine. FACE — Mix of half NYX Angel Veil and half e.l.f. Hydrating Face Primer, BH Cosmetics Naturally Flawless Foundation in Ivory, RCMA No Color Powder, Sephora Tranquil (contour), ABH Purple Horseshoe, and Apocalyptic Beauty Badass Setting Spray in Lavender.
Your most used product this week: BH Cosmetics Naturally Flawless Foundation in Ivory + my usual dailies.
Any beauty discoveries (new or old):
The Milani Romantic Rose and MAC Undercover Heroine blushes mix ended up being really pretty. I’d wear it again.
The Simple Human mirror is the most frustrating thing I’ve ever tried to set up! It may have to go back. The light won’t even consistantly stay on while I’m using it.
There should be a setting that allows you to keep it on or to keep it on for longer!
I put it on the longest setting. Sometimes it stays on, others not. Thank you for helping.
Oh no! 🙁
I’ll follow Nancy’s advice and call their CS. I do appreciate your trying to help; it’s sweet.
Rachel, I had to literally phone Simple Human’s CS number, and the CS was able to program my mirror with me looking into it! It worked, and I no longer have that bizarre issue of it randomly turning off as I’m applying makeup. My patience level being low, I was on the phone with them that Monday morning after having a miserable time with it that weekend. Now, it works just fine!
Nancy, thank you! I will definitely give them a call then. It’s crazy how little information/directions they give you with the mirror itself.
Your skin tone/coloring: above, with freckles, green/gray/blue eyes, warm brown hair.
Favorite look from the week: I used Fyrinnae’s Fantasy Creatures, all over my lid, with a mauve to blend it out in the crease and added some darker pink on the outer corner and a little bit of an orangey color to add a touch of warmth. Paired with Em Cosmetics True Gloss in Secret Blush and a deeper coral blush. I REALLY love Fantasy Creatures. I don’t have anything like it in my collection.
Your most used product this week: Missha M Perfect Cover BB cream paired with Maybelline Better Skin Concealer. I haven’t used anything else for my base in a couple of weeks.
Any beauty discoveries… I love using a cream or liquid blush and topping with a glowier powder blush. Blushes always tend to fade on me, and this seems to keep it in place without making my cheeks look cakey or powdery.
Also, does anyone know if the Maybelline Better Skin Concealer has been discontinued? I love that concealer so much and need to find a replacement, but don’t know if it’s still in stores.
No beauty discoveries or any of the rest of that — just came in here to say that seeing Feline Pretty Femme next to Opulent Red is giving me serious vampire vibes, and I’m seriously wanting to base a look on something similar.
