Becca Gold Lava Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Review & Swatches
Gold Lava
Becca Gold Lava Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed ($38.00 for 0.25 oz.) is a pure, yellow gold with a strong, metallic finish paired with a dusting of larger, pink flecks of sparkle. Unlike the typical gold highlighter that is often more peach- or orange-leaning, this ran much more yellow-based. That being said, Becca itself has released yellow-toned gold highlighters in the past, and it’s that pink sparkle that makes this particular shade a little different but the difference applied will be less and less as sheerer coverage levels. The consistency was smooth, blendable, and easy to work with, while the highlighter yielded opaque color payoff in a single layer that was easy to sheer out for softer coverage if preferred. It applied well to bare skin and didn’t emphasize my skin’s natural texture while still giving me a luminous sheen. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me before fading a bit.

Formula Overview

The Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed formula is described as having an "ultra-reflective shine" with a "creamy" texture that "applies seamlessly." In general, the texture of the highlighters is incredibly smooth, silky, and finely-milled with frosted to metallic finishes and the occasional more sparkly finish.
They tend to have a high-shine, more metallic finish and are a stronger highlighter, so they are going to be best suited to someone who likes an obvious highlight over a very subtle one. That being said, with a fan brush and a deft hand, one could certainly achieve a subtler, all-over luminosity as well, but if one takes a typical, tapered highlighting brush, there will be quite a bit of pigment and highlight on the skin.
I find that some shades can emphasize the look of pores slightly to moderately, depending on application. They tend to last between eight to nine hours on me.

This looks beautiful on your skin based on the pictures.
As interesting as I find this shade and the theme of the collection, I don’t think it would suit my skintone and I always balk at the $38 price tag.
I actually love this one far more than expected. Yellow, yes, which I usually shy away from for facial or lip products as they can turn my neutral olive skin a strange, sickly jaundiced color. But this appears *soft* enough a yellow to potentially work…maybe?
Pretty and I like the color, that’s why I have 4 dupes lol. May still end up getting this during a sale since I love Beccca’s highlighters.
Gosh, this is so pretty! I don’t have anything like this. Will swatch the next time I’m in Sephora.
Love the color, but you last me at “sparkles.” Still, this should make someone very happy. 🙂
While I love BECCA’s highlighters, I’m not sure that color would work with my coloring. Although I use highlighters whenever I wear makeup, I have had a deluxe sample of champagne that is barely gone. It’s the only color I use! I donated all my other highlighters to daughter and grands. The only other one I keep is a Laura Mercier in a warm whitish color.
Wow, I love yellow gold highlighters! Will need to check this one out, thanks for the swatches/review
It’s beautiful but it probably wouldn’t look good on fair skin would it?
Really depends on what you personally like – I don’t see why it wouldn’t look good on fair skin.
No one does Highlighter quite like Becca – I will be getting this!
