FORMULA OVERVIEW | Anastasia Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.06 oz.) is supPosed to be a “finely-milled, highly-pigmented” powder eyeshadow. The brand has a large range of individual eyeshadows that are available as pan-only (no compact to hold them); if you purchase four, you’ll get a 4-well palette for $40 ($10 per eyeshadow), or purchase eight and get an 8-well palette for $70 ($8.75 per eyeshadow). The palettes are thick cardboard palettes with tabs on the side for easy removal/rearranging. There are several different finishes, and the performance can be better or worse depending on the finish, though it also ranges from shade to shade. On average, the formula is semi-opaque to opaque, lightly dusty to buttery, wears seven to nine hours, and is fairly blendable. The Metallic and Titanium finishes seem to be the best-performing to me, but there are some really standout mattes and shimmers as well. I have not tried the sparkle, satin, or velvet finishes as extensively as the other finishes, personally.

Oh no, as usual the blues and purples are the trouble makers 🙁 but surprised the green bombed. Someday, they will find a way to get colors to perform just as well as neutrals….
It’s so sad how true that is 🙁
Hmmm.. Sometimes swatches through me for a loop.. On dragonfly: is that your skin peeking through giving a bit of a purply taupey background to the colour, or is the shadow nuanced as such?
That’s definitely the base of Dragonfly–a sort of blackened element that is giving it a smokier/purple backing!
The looks you managed to create with these are quite pretty, but I think that’s about all there is to say about these shadows. 😛
Well, thank you! 🙂
Aw boo, not even a single A…
The brighter/more colorful shades seem weaker in this range 🙁
Opaline is pretty, too bad about the rest 🙁
I know! 🙁 Too bad!!
With one exception: Opaline, these look really weak. Powdery to the point that it’s quite noticeable in the swatches, they appear really thin in consistency too. The one upside, I suppose, is that at least they got the purple right!
Yep, they definitely aren’t the best in the range!
Oh, dear, the brights singles are not good at all. 🙁
Right? There are some good finds in the range, but aside from the Titanium shades, they are inconsistent 🙁
This is a real heartbreaker. Dragonfly, Star Blue, and Fresh Green are colors that would look so beautiful on me. At least I’m glad I waited for your review, Christine, and didn’t just order them! I could probably wear Opaline, but it looks like it leans a bit too red/pink to be really flattering on me.
Phew!! 🙂
I like the look of Dragonfly. I wish they’d improve the formula though.
Oh no… A total pass for me. The shades are real pretty but what is this about the dusty and less pigmented part. If I remember correctly, Guerlain used to have very good eyeshadow formula few years back.
Sorry… Anastesia( not Guerlain) used to have some good eyeshadow formula in the past
Not many brands can successfully pull off blue eye shadow well, and Anastasia is no exception. This is disappointing because the colours are lovely.
Beautiful eye looks you have created Christine.
Not a good group of eyeshadow this. You manage to make most swatches look good, though.
