Chanel Rouge Majestueux & Rouge Noble Rouge Allure Lip Colours Reviews & Swatches
Rouge Majestueux (847)
Chanel Rouge Majestueux (847) Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour ($45.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a muted, pinky-red with subtle, cool undertones and a natural sheen. The lipstick had good color payoff (though not full coverage) that adhered well to my lips in a smooth, fluid stroke. The texture felt smooth, velvety, and thin but wasn’t clingy, so it was comfortable to apply and to wear. It wore well for five hours and was moisturizing while worn.

Formula Overview
$45.00/0.12 oz. - $375.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have a "satin finish" with "ultra-thin pigments" that yield "full coverage" while also having a moisturizing base. Most shades in the range have a satin to luminous finish--not glossy but they have a luminosity to them that gives the appearance of lighter-weight color and smoother, fuller lips that a true satin finish doesn't have (in my experience).
The texture has a more velvety feel--smooth with great glide but not a lot of wetness, so they go on comfortably but feel very lightweight and thin but don't emphasize lip lines/lip texture. The coverage tends to be more semi-opaque to opaque, so they aren't always living up to the "full coverage" claim.
Most shades wear four hours or longer with some of the deeper and richer hues lasting six hours or more, and the formula has been hydrating for me. They have a subtle, floral scent but no discernible taste.

Rouge Noble (857)
Chanel Rouge Noble (857) Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour ($45.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a deep red with subtle, cool undertones and a natural sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied fairly evenly, but it seemed like there was a tendency for the product to build up slightly on itself in places so it didn’t look as smooth as it could have. The texture was very lightweight and thin but never felt clingy or dry, and while it had a noticeable sheen to it, the actual feel was more velvety than emollient. It stayed on well for six hours and was hydrating over time.

Rouge Majestueux is gorgeous, but I already have the top dupe, Guerlain #21, so money saved.
Rouge Majestueux looks like a gorgeous, rich cherry red for bringing some cheer to the winter doldrums! Of the two shades, I’m a bit more partial to this one. But, I know that I seriously don’t need another red lipstick in my stash! ?
Both shades are beautiful! I’d like to buy one Chanel holiday lipstick and leaning towards Rouge Noble.
I’ve had this question a long time, and Rouge Majestueux is a perfect example. Some shades are not particularly true to tube. With RM, I would predict the shade would have been darker, more of a medium to dark blue red, rather than a medium pink red. At times the tube is WYSIWIG for the shade applied. At times the two have nothing in common. Over the years, expecting a dark shade, the application is anything but. Any thoughts?
Light reflection, finish, density, and opacity all play a massive role in how it looks! If you look at some lipsticks, once you use it, the interior looks different than the untouched portion of the tube!
I’ve often wondered that also. Thanks for the explanation.
Rouge Noble is so pretty on you, Christine!
Wow, I love Noble on you. I believe I have Sedition floating around somewhere in my house. I really have to organize my lippies. And gosh, I do not need another red.
Oh my – Rouge Noble is a glorious shade, perfect for autumn.
