Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name! (Blue-green eyes)
Favorite look from the week: Yesterday when I went to Sephora for GA Acajou, and came out with something else entirely….
Eyes: PMG Midnight Sun for the entire eye look. Taboo transition, Vermilion Venom crease, lower lashline and outer half of lid, Bronze Eclipse inner lid, Blood Moon mid lid, Jubilee to blend both shimmery lid shades, Skinshow Moon Glow and Astral Solstice tear duct. UD Alkaline 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil to line eyes in a a slightly smudged cat-eye, Starfire to line innermost lower lashline, usual tightline and mascara.
Cheeks: Becca x Chrissy Teigan Malibu Soliel bronzer, MAC Burnt Pepper blush, Becca Rise Gold highlighter.
Lips: I left here wearing Nyx Earthtone SLP and Bite Hot Harissa Lipstick. Came home wearing YSL x Zoe Kravitz Scout’s Red ?
Your most used product this week: Definitely PMG Midnight Sun Palette! Plus all my usuals for mascara, tightliner, and foundation.
Any beauty discoveries (new or old): Dang, but that eye look got a ton of compliments at Sephora last night! Midnight Sun is very quickly becoming one of my most used and loved e/s palettes ever. Oh, and apparently orange-red lipsticks do some sort of crazy good magic with my complexion and make my face look brighter and younger.
One thing: I accidentally wound up getting lipstick on my brand new teal green sweater! ?
Got most off using their alcohol spray and cotton pads, but some remains. Any tips on how to get the rest out, please?
I wish! 🙁 I’m terrible at removing stains!!
Nancy, can you not just launder it (either in the machine or by hand?). If not, take it to the dry cleaners (a lot of what people do to remove stains often make things worse, according to a few articles I’ve read). If you can launder it, use a mesh lingerie bag and cold water if it’s going into the machine and also, there is a wonderful product called Grandma’s Secret Stain Remover that I’ve used for years and years. It gets out just about everything without damaging the garment/fabric.
….also, shampoo works really well and is gentle on things like wool or silk – a dab of shampoo (go for something clear rather than creamy) on the stain and then wash in a sink of cool or tepid water and some shampoo (dissolved the way you would dish soap). Can you tell I have a real “thing” about fabric and garment care???
Yes! I’m going to use the clarifying shampoo that I use on my brushes and blender sponge, Mariella. That stuff gets EVERYTHING off my tools, so my guess is that it is gentle enough for fabric, but kills stains. Odd that I hadn’t thought of that until I read your 2nd comment. The joys of having an aging brain are neverending. I had totally forgotten about that bottle of cheapo, but great, shampoo!
Coloring: Under my name, green eyes, s&p hair
Favorite Look: EYES—MAC singles (Cranberry in crease, Twinks on outer V, Woodwinked on lid, Vanilla on brow bone), Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Burnished Bronze under outer third of lower lash line, ColourPop Precision Brow Colour in Cool Cocoa, Lancôme Definicils Mascara.
FACE—Estée Lauder Double Wear Makeup, Lancôme Effacernes Waterproof Concealer, Laura Mercier Translucent Powder, Clinique Cheek Pop Blush in Peach.
LIPS—Guerlain Rouge G #06
Most Used Products: Estée Lauder Double Wear Makeup, Lancôme Effacernes Waterproof Concealer, RCMA No Color Powder.
Beauty Discovery: I was looking for a way to store my single eyeshadows (MAC, UD, and CP Super Shock) that would allow me to label them somehow, and found that they fit perfectly in a 32-section bead organizer from the craft store. I put a “map” on the inside of the lid, so when I open it I can easily find the shade I want.
Your eye look sounds gorgeous, Seraphine. I don’t have Cranberry but I’m slowly moving into more red-toned browns (thanks mainly to UD’s Weirwood Leaves and Smashbox Headline) but may actually break down and purchase it one of these days! Twinks is one of my favourite shadows for this time of year.
Thank you, Mariella. I wasn’t sure about Cranberry when I bought it, but it is so pretty and surprisingly versatile!
Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name.
Favorite look from the week: Actually, it is the look I did today with my new MJ Steel-etto palette. I started with a mix of my two foundations that are in rotation right now, Dior Forever Skin Glow in 2N and Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk in whatever the lightest shade is!! I am losing my miniscule summer tan and Dior is becoming too dark for me. Anyway, I used that base with all the usual powders, (Guerlain Meteorites and Huda Cookie Dough), and MAC Fix + to set. For blush I used the Cover FX duo in Mojave Mauve and just swirled the shimmer with the matte and then I also used a touch of Becca Pearl. For the eyes I started with my usual primer, NYX Proof It Waterproof. I used “The Concrete” as my transition and it was a bit of work though not the fault of the shadow. I forgot to set my primer so I had to really buff the edges. I eventually got it blended but can’t blame the shadow for that! Over the mobile lid and up into the crease I used “Jungle” and then used “Rule” over the inner third and up to my brow bone just on the inner third. I get a lot of darkness in that area and usually try to use a matte shade to brighten the area. I tapped “Sparkling” over the center of the mobile lid, over the shade “Jungle” and then I used a bright shimmer shade from the Give Me Glow Cosmetics Vintage Rose palette to the tear duct. I finished with Buxom Waterproof mascara. For my lips I used Nuxe Reve de Miel balm and then Pat McGrath Matte Trance in ” Beautiful Stranger”.
Your most used product this week: Give Me Glow Vintage Rose palette.
Any beauty discoveries (new or old): So, I stopped using the Algenist Collagen lip because in comparing my lips and upper lip from when I started to when I ran out, I didn’t see any real difference. I took a before and after picture. It has been about a month since I used the last and my upper lip certainly has more lip lines. So now I am trying to decide whether to just go buy it again, try something else or what? I can’t account for the difference since I did take good quality photos, up close and personal but a month later they look worse. I also have been struggling with staying hydrated. This happens with the change from fall to winter in Montana and I have to relearn how to stay hydrated, moisturized and avoid the cold wind that just chaps everything.
Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name; magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes.
Favorite look from the week: EYES — TFSI. Huda Beauty Ruby Obsessions Palette: #7 crease, #4 deep crease, #6 lid and lower lid, #5 center of top lid. Wet n Wild Goth-o-Graphic MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Liquid Eyeshadow in Goth Tears (inner corner). UD 24/7 Eye Pencil in Zero (upper & lower waterlines). Clinique High Impact Mascara. LIPS — Black Moon Cosmetics Black Metals Liquid Lipstick in Immortal (which looks blackened red on me instead of purple). CHEEKS — Tarte Pampered. FACE — E.l.f. Poreless Primer, Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Full Coverage Foundation in F0.2, Apocalyptic Beauty Highlighter Powder in Ghostly Pallor, Sephora Tranquil (contour), and UD All Nighter Setting Spray.
Your most used product this week: Apocalyptic Beauty Highlighter Powder in Ghostly Pallor, Tarte Maracuja Miracle Founcealer in Fair (trying to use it up), plus my usual dailies. Daily mascara is now a Clinique High Impact Mascara deluxe sample.
Any beauty discoveries (new or old): I rediscovered what a beautiful highlighter Ghostly Pallor is, and I’ve vowed to use it more. I think it was an LE item, but I have a pretty big jar of it, thank goodness!
Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name, green eyes
Favorite look from the week: Light base (cushion foundation), brow gel, bronzer for bronzer/contour/eyeshadow, Mascara, highlighter, gloss, pearl earrings and a baseball cap.
Your most used product this week: Retinol. Mascara. Brow gel. (that’s three! sorry)
Any beauty discoveries (new or old): Put serum foundation in panned Laneige cushion foundation packaging = DYI cushion foundation. Yipee!
Your skin tone/coloring: fair, cool
Favorite look from the week: I used everything except the black shade (though I did use that on Halloween night) from Dior’s Celebrate in Gold palette for a lovely autumnal eye look; paired it with all my regular “stuff” – Sephora Cappuccino pencil, TooFaced Blur powder and then 2 “neglected loves from the past” – Smashbox Legendary lipstick and MAC Sweet Sentiment Mineralize blush (I’d forgotten how much I love that blush)
Your most used product this week: Elizabeth Arden Lip Primer, MAC Sweet Sentiment Blush and Sephora Cappuccino pencil
Any beauty discoveries…rediscoveries – MAC Sweet Sentiment blush, Urban Decay’s 15th Anniversary eyeshadow palette (gosh, I only wish it were packaged more practically) and the fact that as my skin gets drier and I get older and the weather gets colder, I’m starting to like using Albolene to take off my makeup at the end of the day (removing it with a warm, damp facecloth makes it more effective and results in much less pulling on my skin than their recommended method of using tissues).
Your skin tone/coloring: light, MAC NC 15-20
Favorite look from the week: Probably looks I’ve created using Juvia’s Place Warrior II and Lime Crime Venus I and Stila Shimmer and Glow in Jezebel!
Your most used product this week: Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume mascara, Bite Agave Lip Balm and La Roche Posay Double Repair Face Moisturizer w SPF 30
Any beauty discoveries (new or old):
I’m trying to use up a particular concealer so I’ve been using it as an eyeshadow primer and it works nice like that. I’m sure products marketed as eyeshadow primer probably are just concealer,in many cases, but I’ve never used it that way and wasn’t sure it would work on my eyelids. It does!
Your skin tone/coloring: above with freckles, green/gray/blue eyes, warm brown hair.
Favorite look from the week: I loved the makeup I wore on Halloween! I used a couple neutral shadows in my crease and put Fyrinnae Cosmetics Fantasy Creatures all over my lid, and wore Bite Beauty Kale on my lips. I figured if there was ever a time to pack as much duochrome on my face and wear green lipstick, Halloween was it. I unexpectedly LOVED how it turned out. For a green lipstick, BB Kale was very wearable.
Your most used product this week: Bite Beauty Lipsticks (I indulged in their 50% off sale and got a few new shades).
Any beauty discoveries… not really!
