Skin tone: Under my name.
Favorite look: I actually didn’t wear makeup even once this week. I have been in one of my weird moods where I am somewhere between a depressed wreck and an artistic genius, LOL! I have been working on several art projects in hopes of snapping me out of my post, too much has happened too quickly and none of it is good, depression. As you all are aware, my older sister passed away before Christmas, then my 82 year old mother slipped and fell on the ice/snow while trying to fill her bird feeders (? why I ask) and she laid in the snow and cold for quite a while before she was able to get my brother to hear her screaming. She was hypothermic, sore and really lucky he heard her when he did or she likely would have lost some digits. My brother had both of his hips replaced and has needed help. They live on the same property but not in the same house and my nephew, who still lives at home at the age of 38, didn’t hear my brother calling for him as my brother couldn’t get out on the ice to help my mom. What a mess. So, I had been going over there until things stabilized and all three of them ended up with that nasty bug that is going around where they all were ill for a good 3 weeks. Now we are in the middle of a major winter storm. I should be grateful as we need the moisture but high winds with temperatures in the -4 neighborhood mean that wind chill is -50. I can’t actually get out of my driveway until the snow is plowed and it is too cold to do that now. I am thinking I may have to buy a small John Deere with a scoop on the front rather than using a snow blower. I don’t mind blowing snow but when it is this cold you have to stop so frequently that it takes forever. Anyway, that is a very long answer for why I haven’t worn any makeup this week. Feels like I needed to get it off my chest!!
Favorite/most used product: Toss up between my Joy perfume and my art mediums.
Beauty discoveries: Nothing. Hoping for inspiration from others on this question.
What an awful winter this has been for you and your family, Deborah! That’s just not fair, and it most certainly would be depressing. I am so sorry that on top of all of this, the winter doldrums got to you, too. Hoping and praying that things get better for you and that your Mom, brother and nephew feel better soon. ?
(I’m digging that John Deere idea!)
Deborah, I’m so sorry to hear about your mom being stuck outside, and now everyone being sick. Your family has had such an awful time the last few months. Praying for some relief for you all.
Thank you, Rachel. It can only get better!!
Most best wishes to your mum. My mum was always falling, trying to walk a malamute and wheaten, with her walker, and winding up in a snowbank, then castigating her friend/our neighbor for doing the same with her scottie. (She had already had a 15 piece hip on one side and a cracked femoral head on the other…)n You cannot keep ’em down, which is a tribute to the resilience of age, as well as a major contributor to our anxiety and depression. BW to your brother, as well, with two THRs. I am not far behind…. I miss my mum immensely. F…abuncha m/u under those circumstances. Good luck.
Thank you, kjh. They don’t make them like our parents, anymore. My mom is a tough “old bird” . She was raised on a farm and they worked hard back in the 40’s and 50’s. She had to go help with the bailing from the time she was 7 years old. In 2007 she had 6 brain surgeries and each time the surgeon told me she would be in the hospital for a week to 10 days and she would go home the next morning. After she moved up to Montana I took her up in the mountains to pick huckleberries and I sent her surgeon a picture of her up on this really steep mountain side, bending over picking berries. He was flabbergasted. I know that I am not that tough!
Overall, she is in good health but no matter how tough you are, mother nature is tougher!
When mine had her 15 piece hip, she told them she needed to be able to walk on uneven ground. IDK if it was MD or PT, but the response was, why? You’re not going to live another year, anyway. Doesn’t anyone think before they speak? Med professionals should not be immune to looking at things from the listener’s p.o.v. She lived another ten. Funny how, when you’re cranky about s.t. (medical stuff) all the supportive evidence comes flooding back. I love how, as you age, you find that behavior and personality factors are hardwired to your parent. And how you hear them in your mind: You really ought not get a dog that’s smarter than you… You really liked that dog. Why didn’t you just knock that wo/man out and take it home? Those of us with great parents were so fortunate. Good luck with the crisis.
OMG Deborah, I have just read your post. Your poor mother – how awful for her to be stuck outside, freezing and screaming and no-one hearing her for awhile. It must have been traumatic for her. I hope she is recovering well now.
You have really been through the wringer lately and just to top it off, the winter has turned savage on you. A John Deere would make things a lot easier, not just now but in the future too.
Are you OK for food and supplies? Hopefully your nephew can help at bit more.
Your skin tone/coloring: Next to my name! (blue-green eyes)
Favorite look from the week: On Thursday I did a full face of makeup for probably the first time in 9 days.
Eyes: All MAC e/s’s. Orb browbone, Tete-A-Teint transition, Saddle crease and lower lashline, Goldbit inner lid and tearduct, Amber Lights most of mobile lid, Mulch outer V and to deepen crease. Sephora Contour Pencil in Go For A Ride on lower lashline smudged a bit, followed with my usual black tightline, upper lashline wing and WP mascara.
Cheeks: MAC Burnt Pepper blush and x Taraji P. Henson Highlight The Truth.
Lips: Nyx Mahogany SLP, MAC x Selena Prohibido Amor lipstick and x Mariah Carey Butterfly Bling Lipglass.
Face: A mix of two BB creams, concealer and my wintertime favorite setting/finishing powder WnW Reserve Your Cabana, which is sadly DC ‘d.
Your most used product this week: Not much of anything except skincare, BB cream, concealer and brows. Been a bit of a plain Jane the past 2 weeks.
Any beauty discoveries (new or old): Rediscovered many of my old favorite MAC Pro single e/s’s this week. Especially right as I was entering in “Best Matte Eyeshadows” a few days ago. Plus seeing some listed as dupes for a few e/s’s I really liked recently.
Correction: I was wrong about the lid e/s, it was MAC Creative Copper, NOT Amber Lights!
Reading your original comment and seeing that you had thought you used Amber Lights reminds me what a lovely colour that is. I haven’t pulled Amber Lights out in quite awhile. I will have to do so when I get my mojo back! Thank you for your care and concern, Nancy. It will eventually pass I am sure just haven’t felt like doing much of anything. After reading your response to my comment I got to thinking about how much my no/low buy may be affecting my mood. I am usually pretty generous with myself and I do most of my buying in and around the holiday season. Because I didn’t buy much before hand and haven’t purchased anything since, it might be why I am not really feeling like doing anything makeup wise. I think I probably rely on the new products to keep me inspired. Anyway, something for me to think about.
How is your arm? Healing well I hope and that you have good use of it. I never really loved the arm approach, always preferring the groin although I do know why Drs. like it. I always felt that people would be happy to lie around for a few days but would like to be able to use both arms freely! I also think since it is a smaller space, the inflammation and swelling/bruising is more noticeable and more debilitating. What are their future plans as far as testing goes? Have you had a 2d echocardiogram done? I am assuming so since you have had the heart cath. There aren’t too many things that would cause your symptoms that a heart cath wouldn’t show so I would think they should be able to narrow it down pretty quickly. Anyway, hope you are doing well and again, thank you for your concern.
Deborah, I do believe you may be onto something there! The correlation between being on a low-buy /no-buy and how new products spur creative juices to flow vs. a lack of motivation to use our stuff is definitely a thing. Add to that the snow, sick family members and the recent loss you’ve suffered, and I don’t know that any of us would be feeling it either, tbh. I know I wouldn’t!
As for my arm, it is slowly getting better. The elbow has proven to be the more painful incision of the two. Every time we get a rain storm come through, I really feel it. On Monday I have my follow up appointment with the cardiologist. It was supposed to be this past Thursday, but I wasn’t feeling okay, so I rescheduled. Hope to get an answer that makes some sense this Monday! And a treatment plan that I can deal with, too.
Best of luck Nancy and I hope your arm is getting better.
Skin Tone/Coloring: Light neutral skin tone, green eyes, salt & pepper hair
Favorite look: I used the same look every day, but switched out the lipstick. EYES: ABH Brow Wiz, MAC Omega Eyeshadow used lightly in crease to give depth to my hooded eyes, Milk Kush Mascara (mini that I got free from Sephora). FACE: Estée Lauder Double Wear Makeup, Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, RCMA No Color Powder, Clinique Blushing Blush in Cupid. LIPS: These are the lipsticks I used on different days with this look: Chanel Mélancolie, MAC Velvet Teddy, Guerlain KissKiss Crazy Nude, NARS Anna, MAC Brave.
Most Used Products: Everything listed in my “Favorite Look” except the lipsticks.
Beauty Discoveries: Nothing this week.

???? ???? ???? ??????? ???? ????: Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear 24H Foundation in 090 Ivoire N (to cover cystic acne) + usual dailies
??? ?????? ??????????? (??? ?? ???): Rediscovering my BareMinerals quads and duos. I haven’t touched them in a while, so I’m going to try to use them more. The quality is so good!
I love bareMinerals quads – I have a few, but don’t have The Truth. I just looked it up and it is beautiful. A perfect set of neutrals. It would look lovely on you.
Thank you! The browns in it are really flattering, I think.
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair, neutral-to-warm NC 15-20 in MAC
Favorite look from the week: I recently picked up Pat McGrath Mthrshp Platinum Bronze. I was a little nervous the colors would look a bit “dull”, but not at all. It’s a really gorgeous palette on the eyes. The colors in the pans don’t do them justice in my opinio.l I paired that eye look with a bronzey face and the Fenty glossbomb in the rosey tone, and I really liked it.
Your most used product this week: Probably my Girlactik luminous face powder in fair. I REALLY love this. It has enough shimmer to give your face a great subtle glow but not so much that it’s a highlighter. It’s one of the few glowy powders (in addition to the Hourglass ambient lighting ones) that I can use all over the face without looking like a light bulb.
Any beauty discoveries (new or old): I picked up the Buxom Seychelles blush, and I’m really liking it so far. I’ve also been enjoying the BH cosmetics Desert Oasis palette, which I’ve had for a while.
First of all, Deborah, I am so sorry for the loss of your sister and all the ill health and accidents that have befallen your family. It is a lot to handle. Please take care of yourself and whatever lightens your mood or helps to brighten your day- maybe a manicure or massage?
Light skintone, dark brown hair, dark green eyes
Today I did more of a “look”. I used my usual Chantecaille just skin vanilla, I used a YSL liquid concealer and the Sisley highlight pen under eyes, Kevyn brow pencil, Nars light eyeshadow base( love this) and from the Anastasia Prismatic palette the icy blue color on lid and a shadow called faux fur in crease ( not from palette)and a whitish sparkle inner corners, Chantecaille faux cils mascara and BB fresh melon pot rouge with a bit of Pale pink powder blush to give it a bit more oomph. Mac capricious lipstick.
Most used: Everything above except for the prismatic palette, the Mac lipstick( used different ones other days. I really like the BB tint in blackberry . I also use a bit of the Givenchy loose powder every day on tzone and a bit of bronzer.
New /old discoveries- Found the capricious lipstick! I ordered the new Urban brow pencil/liquid pen for my daughter to send in her Valentine’s package( she’s away at college) so I’ll report back what she says about it.
Medium with yellow undertones
Am panning my Smashbox Full Exposure palette as it’s the oldest one I own. I’m not a fan of the grey shimmers however to make them work I’m wearing Too Faced Rich Girl on top from the Chocolate Gold palette. Paired this with NARS Outlaw blush and Albatross highlighter (also panning the Killing Me Softly palette) . Been loving MAC Lost Invite this week too.
All of the above were my most used products this week
A host of discoveries this week:-
1. The Ordinary Rose Hip Oil. My skin has more clarity.
2. Mally eyeshadow stick. The quality of this is marvellous. Think I will definitely purchase more at some stage.
Your skin tone/coloring: fair/cool skin, gray eyes, brown hair with red highlights and scattered blonde and blue strands.
Favorite look from the week: Actually, the one I did today! Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Ivory concealer, Fenty Amber Match Stick, Fenty Pro Filt’r 110, Revlon Ravishing Rose blush, UD Electric Gonzo on outer lid, UD Freak on inner lid, UD Fringe under eye, Sephora V for VOLUME Turquoise League mascara, and a blend of lipsticks: KVD Studded Kiss Creme Backstage Bambi and Revlon Super Lustrous Pearl Paparazzi Pink.
Your most used product this week: Probably Fenty 110.
Any beauty discoveries (new or old): That heavy eyeshadow looks great under fluorescent lights! I bought my aunt’s birthday gift at Kohl’s today and I looked really good in that makeup section!
Your skin tone/coloring: light, MAC NC 15-20, med brown hair and eyes
Favorite look from the week: I’ve played around with the Too Faced Semi Sweet palette. I loved the smokey chocolatey look I created yesterday. Set my MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Soft Ochre w Coconut Creme. Put Mousse as transition shade. Put Truffled in the crease. Put Rum Raisin on eyelid. Patted Pink Sugar w finger on eyelid. Lined top lashline with MAC Power Kohl Pencil in Raven. Wore Diorshow Pump and Volume Mascara. My blush was Essence Babydoll. Bronzed with Chanel Bronzer Soleil Tan. Wore Revlon HD Gel Lipstick in Dawn.
Your most used product this week: Too Faced Semi Sweet Palette. Chanel Bronzer Soleil Tan. Essence Babydoll blush. NARS Orgasm Blush. MAC Haute n Naughty Mascara. Dior Diorshow Pump and Volume Mascara.
Any beauty discoveries (new or old): After using the Too Faced Semi Sweet palette for a week I’m wondering why TF needed the Chocolate Bar, Semi Sweet and Bon Bon palette. I get they were riding the wave of the Chocolate theme but I find it unnecessary to have both the Semi Sweet and Bon Bon. No wonder they both are ending up at TJ Maxx and Marshalls lol
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair/neutral, preferring cooler tones.
Favorite look from the week: I did a great look with Berries & Cream’s Chocolate Mousse, some concealer and the Sand Castle Killa Watt from Fenty. Didn’t go anywhere with it though, lol.
Your most used product this week: A mini of the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk lipstick
Any beauty discoveries (new or old): None (thankfully for my wallet)
Your skin tone/colouring: Porcelain, with pink undertones
Favourite look from the week: Cleo from City Color – bronze/gold shade; navy blue from bareMinerals on the lower lid and a peachy wash over the lot. Paired with Bite Beauty Maple lippie.
Your most used product this week: Just my staples.
Any beauty discoveries (new or old): None really this week.
